Us hull fans are off to boothferry later today to say our final goodbyes to the old girl before she gets built upon. Then after that we'll thrash millwall with any luck. You 'ull!
Such a shame. Why did Hull City leave BP? I went there c1977 to see Carlisle Utd, must have been in the 3rd division & got off at Boothferry Park railway station to get there. Hull back then had a pub called the "Grab & Ducket"! I went there for refreshment afterwards
Excellent clip, inclusive of non-red phone box, as Hull - for reasons I've yet to understand - had their own telephone system, independent of the GPO
Fucking quality. I never went to Boothferry for a game as I only started following City during their first season at the KC, but I went to pick my way through the rubble and weeds on a couple of occassions before it got demolished and I admit that it brought a tear to my eye.
i was 4 years old when i went to my first city game at fer ark i remember every saturday if city wer playin at home me my dad and my brother would got and stand in kempton and sing our hearts out as loud as we could no matter what the result we would be there and stay till the very end
My God, I remember playing at boothferry park in1974. I had just left school (16). I was signed on at Mansfield Town F.C. I had been doing well in the youth team prior. We played your reserve side. I can remember in the dressing room... the team was read out... and I was to start. It was a fantastic experience to say the least. I will always remember boothferry park. result: 2-2 draw. I scored to make it 2-1. came as a boy, left as a man. great memories.
Brings a tear to my eye just to see the old place again. Flying high up in the sky. I'm tempted to link this to the new found fans our glorious club has and see if any of them can even remember Fer Ark.
Knew there would be at least one comment like that on this vid. I mean, I have supported the club for a good few years now so I see exactly why alot of long-time fans have a problem with people going just because they're in the top flight, but it's all money to the club and it's great to see the ground full. Only problem I have with it is that I can hardly ever get tickets for the east stand.
During the 70s citys pitch was voted the best playing surface by players year after year, they also had the tallest flood lights in europe at the time to.
I remember my first time going to city in the 70's the pitch must have been the best in any league, next best moment was city beating big head man utd 2-0
Yes i rember it well, got a boothferry return train-ticket from beverley, stood in line at paragan, then on to park yes that was my every other saturday
I am very proud to say my uncle created this short film..he is a die hard Hull City Fan and has supported them through the good times and the bad! This film brought a tear to my eye! Well done Marcus!! Lots of love Caraxxx
can anybody remember the great escape season of 98-99, when we played scarbourough at home, all season we'd only got crowds of about 5,000 max, and that day against scarbourough we got 14,000, rumours are that they was more than 14,000 in the ground that day but cos of health and safety reasons they want allowed to say they was.
remember my Dad telling stories about training with Raich Carter and running up and down the terrraces to warm up, he took me there in the 70's as a kid, it was a mystical place, sad the way it ended, the KC is nice and modern but lacks the character of Boothferry. Thanks for sharing this with us.
great but sad video my memories, played on the great surface for citys youth team, watched hundreds of ciyts games and got arrested on it,on the 1995 pitch invasion against bradford, when the police gave bunkers to bradford fans, big mistake never know a more hostile atmosphere at a footy match.best game city coming back from 2.0 down to beat derby 3.2 whitehurst got the winner happy days,p.s i hate all seaters. kev city old skool
First visit to this stadium was in 1958/9 season, stood on Bunkers Hill. Billy Bly in goal, along with the likes of Stan Mortensen, Neil Franklin, Andy Davidson etc. Then of course the best years, Chilton, Waggy et al, with some good back up, notably Ken Knighton. Then it all fell apart for me, not just Hull City but football in general. Around the time the fencing started going up around the grounds due to crowd trouble, I didn't pay to look through a fence. Bye Boothferry Park, and many thanks
great film reminds so much of my youth..magnificent ground, 42000, 6 floodlights, the best pitch in the league, railway station, kempton, north stand clock...happy days...up The Tigers.
Great video! Remember being spat on as a ballboy by Oldham fan`s after Leigh Palin scored a pen! Great memories. The real city fan`s went to boothferry when we had nothing and a awfull team! Forever Kempton!!
Will there ever be happier times than standing on the terraces cheering whilst rust fell down from the roof into your hair? Hard to beat. So long Boothferry.
Visited BP last season & looked a crackin ground, even tho it was in such a state. Very sad it's gettin knocked down, was hopin 2 visit it again next month.
