Doom is the game that brought popularity to the FPS genre. Half-life reinvented how FPS games can be played. Halo showed that FPS games can be just as good(maybe better) on consoles. without ID software, fps games would be MUCH different. the modding community probably wouldn't exist, and indie games may not include fps.Doom was the first game to feature true deathmatch, and many games copied the formula.

Garry's Mod, at the time, this was version 9, it is now 11.

Source SDK faceposer (which requires a high amount of skill to master, and recreate G-Mans awesome lip syncing, no joke, it took me 30 minutes to get a line down from a song I liked in SDK)

And to edit, I am guessing he used Sony Vegas. Probably version 7 at the time.

When Half-Life came out it changed the way games at that time were to be. 10 years later Half-Life2 changed gaming again this time creating the first ever physics engine that even now is better than the BF3 engine and with HL3 coming soon it'll change the genre again. Halo was just the first for xbox & offered nothing different to N64 or sony games at the time

yet Half life need computers to make all those great things. Halo used the Xbox engine and did what no one else could do. Make a game with a realistic feel muc like half life but made it on a console. Since then other games have looked at what Halo did a copied it so there games would work like theres.
