  • The Original Group Comes Together Every Now And Again To Perform At The Lane County Fair Eugene, OR.

  • Now that's entertainment. Bring this back to primetime.

  • Such songs will never die, they proved it already.

  • i love the manhatan transfer, thank you vey munch

  • What's Laurel been doin', since she left MT? Please let me know. They hit #22 in Billboard, 11-22-75. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • One of their greatest. Laurel videos are rare! Thanks much!

  • I love this song

  • I used to worked for the agency that represented them back in the 70's and they played the Roxy in LA and we all went to the shows. They were amazing in person. Those were fun days. Great talent back then.

  • I worked for the talent agency that represented them back in the 70's and they played the Roxy in LA and we all went to the shows and they were amazing. Those were fun days. Great talent back then.

  • if i had on a wig i'd snatch it off

  • saw them live the second time less than a week ago, wonderful !

  • Now Laurel and Janis return to sing TOGETHER AGAIN !! they have formed together with Lauren Kinhan the vocal group called "JALALA"

  • mean as

  • This is class indeed.

  • I remember this show. Quite a change from the dreck that rules the airwaves today. These people can actually harmonize!

  • Janis Siegel! That girl has a powerful pipe.

    Thanks for this gem.

  • I remember the summer series. This was back when reruns were NOT the thing, and CBS allowed certain music groups to have a "summer" show. It was a great way to introduce the music buyer to the performer outside of the records and to get people to see performers live in concert. The dinosaur of the past: Variety shows.

  • I think this clip came from a short lived television show they had back around 1975 more or less. It use to run on Sunday's at 7 pm and was a type of variety show. They still sound amazing today.

  • Great song, great arrangement, but what are the stupid dancers doing there? Send them home. Excess baggage. Those know it all idiot producers just can't leave well enough alone can they? It always ceases to amaze me that when they do a country show, they have to have hay bales and Broadway dancers with guys in checkered shirts and girls in big fluffy skirts prancing around. Do they honestly think they are doing something worth watching? Janice Segal is something else. Viva Manhattan Transfer

  • Class from the past. Love this!!!

  • C'est trop bon !!!! Excellent ! Bravo à vous !

  • Magical harmonies!!!!

  • Love them! They are amazing!!

    Thank you Rich!

  • FANTASTIC...5 stars...saw them years back in New Orleans they brought the house down!!

  • Feel good music baby. When you are sitting around feeling like hell just crank this up....lol.

Unfortunately the acoustics and the sounds sucks on this version.

  • also check out their java jive, its great :)

  • Class and sophistication...Do they still exist today?

  • of course XDXD

  • @keyjack100 yes they do!!

  • @keyjack100 , they sure du, coz we all still listen to them, how could you not ay

  • @keyjack100 Yes! I went to see them tonight! STILL AMAZING.

  • @keyjack100 - I believe they still exist and check the youtube for more of Manhattan Transfer.

What a wonderful group so refreshing with their harmony, style and class act - I definitely love them!!!

  • i love it :)

  • um... AT&T... the telephone company? stands for american telephone and telegraph? i just thought that was something everyone knew. are you not from the united states?

  • No.

But thanks heaps for the informaSHUN.

    Kindest regards.

  • I love the song. I love them, etc.

But I'm curious to know if she really hoped to get anywhere with her request.

After all, she was hoping to have a telephone conversation with someone who died 2,000 years ago.

And telephones weren't even invented then.

    Still, I love the song.

    Thankyou.

P.S. Spare a thought for the operator.

  • Jesus did die a little over 2,000 years ago, but he also arose from the dead! And thank the Lord we don't need a telephone to talk to him. I agree it's a great song!

  • Dear Mariedolls,

We agree it's a great song.

    Kindest regards.

  • LOL idk why people discounted this, Clever, sir ;)

  • it is also just a song. so. yeah :D

  • i think you are missing the point. the song is a metaphor. it isn't meant to be taken literally. we all know that there aren't ATandT's in heaven. it's symbolism.

  • Yes, I know.

I was being a little cheeky.

Thanks anyway for requiring me to listen to it again.

Just quickly, forgive my ignorance, but what did you mean by AT and T?

  • Back in the 70s I worked for the agency that represented them and when their "The Manhattan Transfer" album came out they were booked at The Roxy and all of us went to see the shows and they were freakin' amazing. They were totally unique and one of a kind and I was a fan for life. Janis rocks on "Operator".

  • The best video clip is with her in the go go boots. Don't know why they took it down but I wont have links on my page anymore due to that removal. Bummer

  • we have to sing this for our show choir

    cant wait :)

  • we want to sing this so bad in our chamber group!

  • Toutes les Sheila sont bien foutues...

  • WOW!! Great performance. Always loved this song and Manhattan Transfer.

  • this song is good very good

  • Just saw them in San Jose last Sunday. Thirty

years later, they are as great as ever!! Janis

can still sing her behind off on this song. They

can sing in any style, with beautiful harmony.

(with Laurel then, and Cheryl now)

  • The song and performance are amazing, the dance breakdown is weird.

  • I loved them when Laurel was with them, she was so pretty.

  • Maybe they are dancing because they can't sing. Isn't that racism to assume that just because they are black they should be in the front?

  • I just think it's weird.

  • This song is awesome. Thanks for posting it!

  • Timeless!

  • I watched this short summer series when it aired. Do you know if it's available on DVD? I'd love to get my hands on it. Thanks for posting it.

  • My Mom would sing this song to me/ Wonderful,Rocking Gospel song/Thx for posting
