  • I respect K2 more than I respect my father

  • That's one hungry mountain.

  • rather not thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • 25% death rate. I'll pass guys. Enjoy the trip.

  • stop this bloody sunni shia fight shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh be muslim very muslim

  • what are people doing there??is there a toko on top???

  • you see, us pakistanis will anyone....anyone but the americans!

  • awesome k2....

  • @MrNaryal No stop your madar chod

  • I would never do it, i think those that do are insane but i respect the shit out of them. I've always been facinated with people that climb dangerous mountains. I don't care if its the Eiger, K-2 or Everest, I love documentries and movies about it.

  • @LordDeathspit lol, same here. I think i would like to go to the base of some of the mountains, but fuk climbing them.

  • @AntaresInScorpius I feel the same way. I want to see them up close but never go up them.

  • It's a shame when someone passes attempting to live out a desire or dream. We call it a tragic accident. Even when the person dies it's a celebration, the died doing what they wanted to do. They may not got to the peak of a mtn., but they have reached a much higher peak. I pray for all that have died attempting to live out there dreams

  • much respect to the people living there dreams .its a shame they died trying

  • K2 is a monster.....

  • @funkyflights A monster ? It's only one of the most beautiful mountains we have. And just cause every year mountaineers (you can call them live sick idiots as well) try to get their peak pic of it, or die already trying to get up doesn't make the mountain to a monster :) - Just look at the garbage dump they made out of the Sagarmatha. It's a shame. Loads of oxygen tanks, tents & other rubbish covering the highest mountain we have. Men is the monster.

  • @Penthesileya

I think your misunderstanding me when I say monster... It's ok though... I understand your point ...

  • @funkyflights sorry then :)

  • @Penthesileya

    No worries!

  • in loving memory of my uncle, Hugues d'Aubarede, from his nephew from spain. i'll remember our holidays in Chamonix......hpe you're of wherever u are......

  • I'll just keep pulling my pud (because it's there) and stay alive.

  • @m2verick

Probably the most difficult 8000m, and therefore famous, peak. While K2 is a beast, several lower mountains are by expert account more difficult, such as Baintha Brakk (The Ogre) and Latok I&II.

  • @Waleed97j K2 doesn't stand for killer-2. When K2 and the surrounding peaks were being categorized, they were given a number and the prefix K for Karakorum, the range in which they lie. There was no local name for K2, so it stuck.

  • Nanga Parbat is know as 'The Killer Mountain' ...... I think K2 is now mre dangerous but Nanga Parbat used tu be. (The mountain obviously hasn't changed but technics and equipment have improved).

  • why do people want to do this? aren't there plenty of other, safer mountains to climb? you still get pretty much the same view at the top, and it's not like its a race to be the first person to climb it anymore.

  • @jimmyshitbags As George Mallory said 'because it's there'.

  • zzzzzzz

  • Now I'm no Good Will Hunting, but 1 out of 4 die summiting K2. I'll pass!

  • I thought Annapurna had the most deaths per ascent.

  • thumbs up if ur reading my comment during the advertisement

  • @mrpielovingpie no one cares, attention whore

  • If the Taliban doesn't get you.....the Death Zone will.

  • @rizvif

Don't worry, it's no secret the ISI pays off the Taliban to stay away from that mountain so that rich Americans can grow a dick.

  • @member5738 Sadly that is true...There are many members of the Wahabbi sect in the ISI....People like MrNayal are those who do not want to see the truth....

  • i jizzed all over the death zone

  • @covingtonium You probably did you sad wanker.

  • "K2's makeshift shrine..." more like an idiots' Hall of Fame.

  • @UserName11374 When people know their life can't amount to others they tend to mock them...even in death. Your pathetic mate.

  • I chickened out at the Death-Zone twice in 3 years. Will try again next year.

  • @jshanker2005 Good luck next time. Watch out for summit fever and 'chicken out' again if it's too dangerous.

  • Woow. I saw a simulation of what happenend with those guys. Respect for those guys. Especially who died trying to save some man.

It must be terrible to see your Comrades falling on a mountain like that. 18 man // 11 kills. Unbelievable. Again. Respect for those who died.

  • @m2verick very very true. Everest's Terrain is much more smoother. K2 is a difficult climd. much more obstacles than everyest

  • @mountaingirl1995 , Yes, I have seen the show, thanks! I've pretty much read every book I can find on the subject too.

  • Wow, straight out of a movie.

  • @Rivamus I imagine so...it's not in me! Lol! But I do love reading about it and looking at the photo's. It is quite beautiful.

and to all the people that say "these people deserve what they get"...shame on you. Nobody deserves to die because they have an ambition.

  • these people get what they deserve they climb knowing what to expect

  • It's not describable. If you climb, you just feel it. It's in you. The mountains call, and you go. You have to.

  • LIVE FOR NOTHING OR DIE FOR SOMETHING

  • if you cant understand why anyone would want to climb a mountain, I feel sorry for you. Why would anyone want to go Skydiving? Skateboarding? Bungee Jumping? Life is a lot better when you aren't scared to enjoy it. Keep playing those xboxs kids.

  • @wlgildog shut the fuck up. Everyone go about and enjoy life differently. If those kids wants to play their xbox so be it. Live your life accordingly to how you see fit; it's yours. What did they get out of climbing that mountain: a segment in the news and a short life span

  • @wlgildog Play your xbox, sit around eating bon-bons and die early as a fat diabetic lump. Man that sounds exciting! Good luck with that.

  • I just finished the book "No Way Down" about this tragedy. I have also read several other books about the Everest disaster. I find it morbidly fascinating for some reason. Why do these people do it? They seem so happy when they reach the summit and yet that is not even half their battle. More people die on the decent. None of what I read sounds like "fun" of any sort. If you want to watch a pretty good documentary about the subject, watch "Touching The Void".

  • @jeannebug1 Its just in you or it isn't. Words just can't describe the ambition to set out and do things to such a great magnitude. Its a high once you are out there I assume. I suppose just like runners get a "runners high" but only 50 times more extreme. I'm no expert on mountain climbing, but I want to climb Everest one day.

  • @jeannebug1 Jeanne, you should watch Everest: Beyond the Limit. It is a fascinating Discovery channel program about the actual process of climbing Everest and what the climbers go through. I think you might enjoy it!

  • @jeannebug1 Touching The Void and The Beckoning Silence are fascinating ...... the only problem is they are about and by Joe Simpson who is an irratating arsehole. Try and ignore him when watching and you will enjoy them more!

  • @TheEnoughisEnough I didn't mind Joe Simpson's personality. I found both the book and movie to be very fascinating. What is "The Beckoning Silence"?

  • @jeannebug1 The Beckoning Silence is the next book and film by Joe Simpson. It's not about Simpson himself this time it's about a famous climb of The Eiger in the 30's by an German/Austrian expedition. II think it's better than Touching The Void but once again there is just too much Simpson in it for me. I can't stand the bloke. If you don't mind him then get the book-DVD and enjoy ;-)

  • White people...

  • so wait... 2 people died.... and they're just like: ah nevermind, lets just continue to the summit.... WTF?

  • @MRmels1 at that altitude you can't save people, if you can't walk, you die, no helicopter can get to the summit, and you can't carry people arround up there, the bodies stay on the mountain...

  • @MRmels1 different world up there, by there logic the 2 men who died would want them to continue on

  • K2 is the most deadly & dangerous mountain to climb. All pro-climbers know that.

  • @giriisindahouse well, except for Anapurna, that is even more dangerous

  • @XxDEFLESHEDxX maybe it is. But facts say that K2 has more deaths than any other mountain so it is the deadliest

  • @giriisindahouse Nah, if counting the total deaths, I would guess Mount Everest beats K2

So if counting total death, Everest is more deadly, if counting summit success/death ratio, Annapurna is more deadly.

  • @XxDEFLESHEDxX Agreed:

The Annapurna peaks are the world's most dangerous mountains to climb. As of 2007, there had been 153 summit ascents of Annapurna I, and 58 climbing fatalities on the mountain.[5] This fatality to summit ratio (38%) is the highest of any of the eight-thousanders.

  • @davidmc107 Annapurna is not dangerous as K-2 . U can simply imagine No one simply no MAN has ever tried to climb K-2 in winters as Annapurna has been climbed many times. I my self have seen K-2 quiet closely it looks like monster. And it doesnt not matter wether its Annapurna or K-2 its all about fight to survival and coming back alive

  • I'm making an assumption, so please feel free to correct me but, those of you speculating on the mindset of mountaineers have never intentionally engaged in any activity to test your own physical limits (corporate tee times w/clients don't count...sorry) correct? "Common Sense" would dictate that we do not drive cars based on statistical danger so while it's wonderful to abide the "rules of life" ..I'm not convinced you have a thoughtful argument. Here's to all adventures,

  • little penis?

  • @hltdude09 Yup.....very tiny penis - that's why people become climbers. Someday I'm going to fly by climbers on K2 or Everest in my jet, drinking a cup of coffee, while getting a blow job from a flight attendant, and flip them the bird.

  • K2 are way harder to climb than Ever rest

  • watching the climbing down..helll noooo i would never do that

  • omtomt..........people have a choice to climb that mountain, and risk death, or not climb it at all, and still be alive to this day..........and I'm the asshole for my comment? Some choose to be race car drivers, same thing....some will die, most won't. And go ahead, call me the lowest of the low but......you know what....I use common sense, and rules of life, and I stay away from stupid decisions to risk my life, and a group of others. How many others died over the years?..dumb hey

  • Mountaineering has always been one of my dreams. Hope to get started in a few years climbing.

So some people died. It's a fact, some people die in high altitude mountaineering. But just the same, it's also a fact that getting in the car to drive to the nearest grocery store can also kill you.

When your times up, your times up. Your life can go at any minute. At least these people died while doing what they love doing. And there's nothing stupid about that.

  • @ThotfuLCitizeN yeah but the odds r a lot higher of dying on that mountain than getting in a car, its like either jumping out of a building or not, ur gunna die jumping out rather than not, even though there is a small chance that u can die bu falling in the building and landing on a pen going through ur eye, very small odds, but still a chance

  • All idiots. Death is what you deserve for your stupidity to summit K2.

  • @psilocyberspaceman your a fucking moron. sit inside your lexus and experience the "joys of life". give some respect for the fallen climbers. there balls are 1000000x bigger than yours

  • @trentandjordan Thanks for the roses. Guess the "big balls" boys also play chicken with trucks on the highway. Their balls are now 1,000,000 times more frozen than mine... "joy of life" hahahaha... you’re hilarious!

  • hahahaha....looks awesome on all of them..........if they're too fuckin stupid to read......DEATH ZONE...........go ahead, climb it, you stupid motherfuckers...hahahaha, my only regret is that there wasn't any wild animals about to snack on their remains....and to all of you pouting because some of us love watching others misfortunes....fuck off......these assholes want to fuck with mother nature....go ahead, but be prepared to pay the price....hahahaha

  • @TheGreasepit thats a pretty fucked up thing to say dont u think, pretty immature actually. what kind of person r u, making a statement like that makes u the lowest of low. what if someone close to u died, maybe someone has already, how would u feel reading a statement like that of ur loved one? i bet u wouldnt be saying shit like that. LOWEST OF THE LOW

  • lol adamb9098. you are right, the payoff is only in peoples' heads. either you look like a dipshit for dying on a rock or you climb a rock and no one cares. the important part to remember is that this provides news stories for the networks and entertainment for the rest of us.

  • @mrnoodleisdead Yes let's all remain little children and be entertained by the death and misery of others.

Let's all celebrate not doing anything at all to challenge ourselves, and sit in our warm little hovels and cynically pretend that we're better than the rest of them - whilst sitting on our fat asses doing absolutely nothing.

    Grow up.

  • Where's the payoff, yipee, I climbed a giant fucking rock? WTF?

  • its not about ego its about climbing it because its there .. because its a challenge

  • K2 is 10x gnarlyer than everest

  • Teleprompter bobblehead

  • must be scary..when falling

  • Hopefully very soon all of these idiots that want to throw away their lives for their egos will have all died on these mountains. Then the entire masturbatory practice will be ended as well.

  • @bashfulbrother Sounds to me like obvious projection: I've no doubt that it's people like you who're the only real folk who masturbate incessantly to get through your own sad little life.

The rest of us understand that life is for living, not cowering in fear...

But I'll never actually hope you die.

Because I'm not a childish idiot spewing hate just because I can't get off my ass and live...

  • @cinesimonj First, go and educate yourself on defense mechanisms. Second, look up the term PSEUDO-intellectual. Third, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. I won't bother trying to explain to you the meaning of my statements as I would have to use one or two syllable words, and you are not worth the effort. Plain and simple, the only reason these guys and women climb is to bolster their low self-esteem. Much the same as you when you try to pretend you are educated.

  • @bashfulbrother Nice projection,,kiddo.

    Grow up.

  • @bashfulbrother People don't climb mountains to bolster their low self-esteem, at least not any more than any other area. It's about the adrenaline rush, and pushing the limits of what one is able to do. All professional climbers are fully aware of the dangers of their expedition, especially if they are on K2.

  • @dgtucker I realize that. I was just giving the "genius" a hard time. I do think that on some of these climbs the goal of reaching the summit becomes all consuming at the expense of humanity. Take the climbs in Everest, there are several accounts of those in the death zone walking past people dying in front of them and they are more concerned with reaching the summit than helping their fellow climber. In that case the only motivation has to be ego and selfish concern.

  • why do american reporters ALWAYS sound retarded?

  • Remind me to not attempt to summit mountain with a section labeled "death zone"

  • @WillBilly425

every mountain that goes over 8000 meters has a death zone

  • @WillBilly425 everest has one too

  • if you haven't read k2 by ed viesturs, you should read it. There were 3 sherpas that helped the climbers, some even climbed back up to help. Its stupid they don't ention them here. They are real hereos.

  • @levimoviemaker This was an immediate-after news! They didn't know all details by then!

  • @lotwyo oh, ok. still, the book is good

  • i thought annapurna 1 was the worlds deadliest mountain....

  • I love the way the last survivor of this expedition, Marco Confortola said "Instinct" makes you want to rescue others... was he thinking that when he abandoned Ger McDonnell as ger was trying to rescue the Korean climbers, eventually succeeding but was killed in a further avalanche hours later on the descent. Or was he thinking it was "instinct" when he subsequently stole the late Ger of his heroic feat, changed the story and sold the story...

  • @dark90ist Wow those are very serious accussations! I would love to know the details and fyrthermore how you know them to be true?

  • @dark90ist damn who the fuck does that?

  • @TehAWAL I guess he saw an opportunity to make a life for himself outside of mountaineering.

For anyone interested in a proper non biased account of what happened that day, No Way Down is worth reading. In it, the author highlights that Marco Confortola was reluctant to speak with him about the events and when he eventually told his side of the story, it was unbelievable and did not add up.

The proof of this is that Ger McDonnell was post posthumously awarded the Targa D'Argenta, an ITALIAN

  • mountaineering award for bravery... the Italians ignoring their own native Marco and awarding Ger instead.

  • thats what they get for smoking k2 while climbing k2

  • And this why K-2 is illegal my friends.

  • this would not be a good video to watch while smoking K-2

  • whoc are just another piece of meat fell on some rock and got tenderized biug deal thre are over 7 bilion more hahaah

  • @AmericansSexualPreds You sound real intelligent with a statement like that!!

  • Its because its there..

  • strange interests people have.

  • @bilalhidayat Personally I have a strong liking for small shelled animals such as turtles.

  • @bilalhidayat You can't tell me you wouldn't feel accomplished after doing something like this. There are so many people in the world, and very few accomplish anything worth mentioning. You only live once.

  • @lCheatAtGolf

I wouldn't feel accomplished having to walk over dying people to summit. I'd feel more of a sense of accomplishment from being a part of the rescue mission, myself.

  • k2 is 1 of the hardest mountains to climb...

  • @McHeada because its steeper then everest.

  • Man i know how those guys feel i had to descend Ben Nevis last month with a slightly aching calf muscles.

  • Pakistan side of K2 ..Baltaro glacier ..

    getting kinda touristy ...

    the north side ..China

    over Aghil pass ..Shaskum river

much more wilderness experience to K2 north base camp

    Qogori..the hard far away

    stop at the top ..

  • porters of the baltaro

    the best part of k2

  • @MegaWoWpally u need a medical care

  • Slava im...

  • You climb a notorious mountain, it's not an "accident". it's the odds against you finally built up. You dont get to cry foul.

  • They summitted too late. Again.

    People NEVER learn.

  • K 2 the killer mountain.

  • man always no 1 is no 1 doesnt matter how n wat is no 2 coz its sec n its came after first,,,,,so no 1 n then no 2 thats mean mt.everest(nepal,,8848 ft) n then k2,k3 or watever so wat u tried to say by mt.everest is not for mountain climbers....hahahha r u kidding me right??????good joke mate

  • @thehyppack -- Please learn to spell. I couldn't read that at all. "U" is not a pronoun. "1" is a number, not a pronoun. "wat" ?? yeah "wat" did you say ?

  • @thehyppack yeah but k2 is number 1 in hardest to climb, everest is easy compared

  • One Pakistani died trying to save others

  • @jshanker2005 something is burning,,,i can feel the burning smell.

  • T___T

    Now I'm all depressed....

  • It is better to live like a lion for a day then to live like a pussy forever!

  • @VoiceOfReason1966

why not live like a cat? not a lion and not a pussy

  • @VoiceOfReason1966 then why are you posting youtube comments, i've never seen lions do that, or pussy's for that matter :S

  • @VoiceOfReason1966 lions sleep all day

  • @VoiceOfReason1966 you better live for an hour free, than fourty years in slavery and jail.Something like that, was what a Great Greek said before Greeks fight back for Greece @ 1821.Not that relevant at the first glance, but its what you said more or less.Nowadays slavery, is 95%+ peoples life, in city, away from nature.

  • Osama is hiding in the mountains of Pakistan that's y he hasn't been caught. I now officially declare this mountain a terrorist...lmao.

  • Can you say dumb people... I rather watch it on tv and have a cream soda...

Now they are dead for nothing...

  • Making good desitions above 8000meters(25000ft), Isnt easy becuase the amount of oxygen is 3 times lower at that hight. Your brain simply doesnt get enough oxygen.

And when one climber died some people did turn around. One of the reason so many died was becuase they didnt have enough rope.

  • U know one of the reasons that many people die climbing K2 than mount everest because they don't have people from nepal the sherpas who are willing to risk their life for other tourists so they can get to the top of the mountains and get back. one of the other things is that we get attached to the people lifes instantly that makes us feel like we have know them since long long time. This comment is not a disrepect to the Holy Mountain K2. Everest all the way

  • Knuckleheads, ALL. K2? equals certain Death. and so i would ask: WHY?

lol! i'm just stupified at WHY guys feel the urge or desire to simply have to Conquer this goddamn Death Climb. i mean, come on. did you hear the part about, "it's actually harder to COME DOWN! than it is going up!!! so, logic says, after an incredible arduous, exhausting, debilitating climb to the top, you get to then experience the even MORE DIFFICULT Descent. yeah. that's what i look forward to. Lol!~

  • Lesson learned. when your climbing a tall mountain and one of the other climbers dies. you imediatly head back down.

  • my biology teacher just climbed this mountain, sounds a beast

  • k2 tragedy.......sad sad!!!!

  • God bless that porter and the brave souls that had attempted the climb.

  • they should so snowboard this, tragic tho

  • don't climb K2! stay home and read a good book or go bowling instead.

  • no k-2

i love to sleep on the beaches and sunshine

  • People, Thumbs up, To that Pakistani Porter, who died trying to save a guy who fell of the ridge, he didn't have to do it, He is a hero for it, my respect is with him.

  • @DigitalTechh he wasnt trying to save him, he was trying to recover the body. and he was a paid porter. he never would have put himself in this absurd risk if it wasnt for the egotistical white people paying him to do the job

anyway i liked the part where 2 of them died and the rest forged on ahead... IM GLAD 2 OF YOUR COMRADES DYING BEFORE YOUR EYES DIDNT SLOW YOU DOWN

  • Comment removed

  • hm cant believe, that K2 is much more difficult than everest, everest is almost 1000 feet higher! K2 is just more dangerous, because of higher risk of avalance!

  • @valkyrie1960s K2 is a much more technically demanding climb, with a far greater danger of Avalanches. It is an extremely exposed mountain getting storms much worse then Everest. Height has nothing to do with difficulty of the climb. The more difficult the more dangerous. Everest is like walking up a hill compared to K2. 1 in 3 climbers die climbing K2, 1 in 10 die climbing Everest. In fact Everest is one of the safer of the 8000ers to climb.

  • Using supplemental oxygen makes you dependant from your supply. If now sth unforeseen happens and you might need longer than initially planed, you're screwed.

  • wearing oxygen on any high altitude mountains is highly criticized by many purist climbers. Not because it taints the experience, but because it gives unwarranted confidence to climbers who may otherwise be unfit and undeserving of such a incredible journey.

Oxygen should be used for emergency purposes only, and then inexperienced climbers who use oxygen as a crutch wouldn't create accidents that need rescuing, putting more people in danger.

  • Im sure getting to the top of a really cold mountain is all kinds of fun,but I'll pass. They should at least tell people theres gold up there, then at least you'd have a excuse to go up there.

  • @Ranteal hahahaha

  • Parachute the fuck off, screw climbing.
