This is by far the best Show Tank I've seen on You Tube and this is why... 1. Tank size, 125 gallon is perfect 2. Amount of African Cichlid in a 125g is perfect 3. Male only mix species, is a good balance in your tank. 4. The colors are amazing. 5. minimal amount of broken fins not bad at all... 6. Zero aggression swimming, is an excellent environment. I love it! and 7. Sand and Rocks nice amount... Do you have a video of the filtration system? Also what do you feed them? Thanks!
beutifull tank. where do you get all your fish? that is the perfect tank. i have a 50gal that does great with about 15 fish and two severums. i would like to get a 125. fighting a disease where out of nowhere one will spin around on head breath heavy at top first and die. hope i got it now lost two fish, not sure what it was. anyway how doeas your tank look now?
This is SOOOO beautiful! How do you have so many in the tank ???????? I have 6 in one tank and they are all killing each other! I want to have something beautiful like yours! Whats your secret? :()
@BalueBallin lol thank you, although I do know this... I packed my tank with a lot of cichlids and they ended up ripping up all there fins and eventually killing a few of each other anyways...... even so.... How many would you recommend for a 55 gal for max amount of fish?? My tank has Haps and mbuna's... mixed..
I've heard alot about overcrowding cichlids to reduce aggression, is this the case? i currently have 8 along with and multi plunctatus sinidontis(sorry if the spellings off lol) but they are all really aggressive since we lost a few due to sickness or old age.. (we had 12) we have a 40 gallon would adding more make a difference in the aggression?
Wow theres so many beautifull peacocks!! I especially like those red Aulonocara Rubescens and that white one with black dots in the middle of his body. That apprears at 0:55
Everyone likes that one in the video, but it's a juvie fossorochromis rostratus. They are nicknamed 'sand divers' and if you ever try to catch them, you'll know why. They bury themselves in the sand!
normally i would say if you tried to put all these males together they would look like shit cuz they would kick the shit out of each other but you've done a good job and they look great
Overcrowding helps with Africans, but fish all have difference personalities.
These guys never gave me much trouble in agression. The only issue I had was the Taiwan Reef and Red Empress... oh, and the Sunshine Peacock... but having the sunshine dominant makes for a pretty fish!
Depends on the fish... Peacocks and small haps? Maybe... if they are smaller species. I kept about 12 in a 60g once and to wore them down over a couple months. With these guys? 8-10.. and nothing that gets bigger than 6".
I just can't believe how beautiful your fish are. I believe the Peacocks I bought are hybrids, so most of them don't look very good. =/ Bad move on my part.
Sure it is... it's just more Red than Orange. The Aqualight (can't remember the manufacturer) really brings out the red i the fish. Unfortunately, I don't have him anymore.
Will never work, you need at least a 75g... you could get away with a 40 breeder if you did a colony of a single species peacock. I feel a 125g is a minimum to do it right.
@akysten who told you that ypu need a 75 minimum because i have a 30 gallon and all my fish are fine and i have 11 fish dont tell ne it over crowded because i have never seen any agression
They are hard to find. I used to breed them. I bought one from a guy in Thailand and had him shipped to the USA through Miami. The other one I bought at a place called Animal Jungle in Virgina Beach, Va. I had someone offer me a price I couldn't refuse thinking I could buy another for less. It's been over a year and nothing.
What lighting do you use? Is that dual actinic or 50/50 or what? I'm trying to decide what lighting I want to use. The Actinic really brings out some beautiful colors, but the daylights are nice too.
The irony is that this is the video I spent the least time on. I was trying to sell a couple fish on Aquabid and shot it on zoom from across the room. I sold the fish I was trying to sell.
I agree.. and we're talking Peacocks. There are some fish in this tank that will be too big for a 50g. I presently have my fish in a 180. I'll try to get a video online soon. Of these fish, I still only have 9 or 10 from this video, but I've added some nice fish to replace them.
AWSOME FISH!!! I just got a red ruby peacock, it currently has a purple head, bright orange near the gills, and a purple and orange multi colored tail. It is only 2.5-3 inches. When it grows out will it look like yours? Do you have 2 ruby reds in there if not what are they? Check out my tank, it does not have the ruby red tho, cuz i just picked it up this week.
Peacocks are my fav. Nice set up. I only got a 55 gallon. But I got the tank and the cabinet for free off a family member. I'll most likley go bigger.
Wow, some great specimens, the colours really POP as you say, but after looking at the vid a few times the colours seem a little unreal, almost too blue, maybe it's just me, but still great collection of fish! Hey check out my channel and comment. FM
nice tank... its nice to have an all-male tank coz aside from the fact that males have nicer colors, having a female in the tank brings out the aggression in them.
Hagan Aquaglo.. I prefer it to the Powerglo, though it's nice too. The aquaglo really brings out the reds and oranges in fish.. make them POP. Powerglo is a weaker in Red... but a little stronger in yellow.
that's a single tube strip, but if you had a double, run one of each for the best of both!
I don't like the T5 lights... to me, they don't look right. I prefer the t-8 and t-10. The t5 version is very very blueish. Just like their colormax is very very pink(but their t-8 is a good light)
Your tank look grate man.. must say i have not seen a lot of those colours cichiid in my life as a fish lover... it sure is a very beautiful fish tank... grate job
Is the Green Terror still with your community? I didnt know they could tolerate high PH water.

When cichlids are overstocked they aggression is spread out more evenly.

Hagan Aquaglo. It's the only light that has a strong red spectrum that makes the red POP.. as well as the blues.
I do not recommend Actinic or 10000k... Hagain Powerglo is my second choice but if you have red fish, the Aquaglo is your ONLY choice.

how many could i hold in a 50 gallon tank?... for the safety of my fish please respond
sigggorilla 2 years ago
I wouldn't put any more then 6-8 of this size in a 50g tank. A key factor would be water circulation.
I have a couple 125's set us this way, and it's chin dropping to watch them.
