I love TR. I know liberals like to emphasize that he was "progressive" and while this was true, i think the big thing is that TR fought for the common man. Sadly i feel that neither party really does this anymore.
@bpolacek89 You obviously have open eyes my friend. Neither party has cared for the common man for years. They are like the offense, and defense on a football team. They both have different agendas, but both play on the same crooked team.
@bisquik3006 You are so right, plus what irks me is that i'm a socially conservative guy, but at the same time i think a government should make sure that all people have a chance to succeed and make capitalism more fair . It seems though like the only answers are euro style socialism (about half the democrats), do nothingism (like obama) or protecting the rich like the gop.
All the Tea Party loonies who think they adore TR don't know him at all. For all his saber rattling, he was most of all a forward looking progressive. The Pure Food & Drug Act, the control of trusts & big business, racial equality, fair treatment of labor, universal suffrage were all part of his politics. Who was the driving force behind the preservation of America's wild lands that the Palins and Pauls would so happily despoil, & the 1st American to win the Nobel peace Prize? TR, that's who.
@kyyankee7 TR was really awesome. He hated Taft's conservatism so much he had to run again to get him out. Progressivism was what was changing and fixing the country. What happened to the Republican party?! Dems are a little odd ball themselves now too but wow.
ok, the 3:04 one is kinda offensive (I'm colombian) but it might be true actually; after all the country was allways in war to decide who should be the president, panama was completly ignored, and the millions given to the country were stollen............................ actually, thanks to teddy the political leaders finally got serious and fair
I have a book of Teddy Roosevelt political comics and one is of him and Kermit hunting the Sphinx during a safari and the quote is "Steady Kermit, we must have one of these.".
I somewhat see McCain as another TR in the sense that they both are patriots, strong principals, and are respected and liked by a lot of independents. Also both TR and McCain have sons that are currently serveing or have served in the military.
