lol.. your videos are great! I'm taking American Government at FIU and we definitely need some 'comical-knowledgeable' lecturers like you down here in South Florida! keep up the good work fella!
It is much easier to sit here and listen to a lecture than read about Watergate in a thirty page article in my textbook. And I get so much more out of your lectures. My history teacher says the reason Nixon kept tape recordings was because he was paranoid and viewed every person as a threat and competition. But during the time period when the court wasn't sure whether or not Nixon should give over the tapes, couldn't Nixon have modified them? Just wondering...
Hey Shelly thanks for the kudos. I think Nixon truly believed in the sanctity and power of the executive. He saw himself as the defender of the office and while he could of easily destroyed the tapes he saw himself as someone who was being crucified for political reasons. His belief in executive priviledge blinded himself to the constitutional power of congress to do oversight (and checks and sep of power) peace.
@qcrg Hmm i see your point. He must have strongly believed that he would never actually have to turn them over. But still, he had to personally HAND IN the tapes. If at a certain point in time he knew that his executive privilege would not carry him through, it only makes sense that he would want to protect his character. He could suddenly have alzheimers and say, wait a minute, tapes, what tapes? and burned them in the nearest fireplace. It doesn't makes sense
you suck stfu. loser gtfo

Nixon should have gotten impeached. It would've interesting to see how that would've played out.
