  • porn for bassists.

  • I like this bass!! Your movie sounds very nice.

Could you tell me how did you rec this bass sound?

(ex: Audio interface, Amp sim or Preamp? and more?)

  • what is that music .. i need it !

  • @sadismminds It's just a piece that a couple of the musicians here at the store put together to demo the bass over top of. I think we used it in some of the guitar demos as well

  • @MorrellMusic

    Well done ! ;)

  • @sadismminds Thank You very much

  • I don't listen to Rush (I'm more into punk rock) but I played his bass at guitar center and it's a great sounding bass.

  • Bass porn...

  • To me the musician playing Geddys' bass would appear to be a guitar player and not a bassist. Not that it matters (well to me or I wouldn't post this LOL). Thanks everyone I feel better for that.

  • @thechuckwillkill when you're high everything looks delicious ;)

  • it would be cool if we could hear the bass

  • I recently purchased a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass from someone on craigslist! I was skeptical at first, having already in my posession, an American-made J Bass. I didn't think there would be much comparison, but it was a must-have item (being a Rush fan for 28 yrs.) I must say...the two instruments sound & play like two different animals. I am very satisfied picking this bass up for $600.00. Well worth it!!!

  • why does fender insist on having that god awful white plate on the guitar's body? design sense like that could have only come from a straight man...

  • I found the stock Geddy pickups to be pretty lifeless and flat. I swapped in a set of Nordstrands and it sounds awesome now!

  • @gyrenejoe Any sound samples?

  • @rcsmith67 Sorry, nothing at the moment, but I'll try to put something together.

I also have a set of active Basslines on a very cheap Korean fretless that I've been thinking of swapping into the Geddy.

  • The pickups may crackle with life and bristle with the energy, but are they invisible?

  • @PinkTheFloydable epic spirit of radio reference. props to you, good sir. slap da bass

  • @cedriclj87 :D It's not worth $1,000 if it doesn't come with invisible airwaves.

  • @cedriclj87 Yeah mon, slappa dat bass...in ur face...

  • is it good being a japanese made?

  • @chepemestepec The quality of Fender Japan's stuff rivals the MIA stuff, I think.

  • Hey guys, I need help :) Should I buy this bass or Music Man SUB bass? I cant choose :(

  • Is it american made or mexican cuz it does seem a little too affordable

  • @DaKoolaydMan

    Japanese made

  • Spirit of the radio reference! haha Love this bass!

  • once when I was 12 I had a pappy who threw them cherry bombs at my momma and I caught me one. I have a couple stubs left and anywho I like dis here rocker bass cuz its smooth like silk. nice on the nubs and they dont bleed as much.

  • I think this was my bass by the way, as I bought it from you guys around november 2008. Turns out that the pickups had a connection issue inside, the base of the electronics was loosing half of its volume. Now that it's fixed, this thing is so freaking nice and loud. I recommend Morrell Music no matter what, it's not your fault that the bass had an issue.

  • since u know who passed away..

Geddy Lee wud now be the best bassist

    in the world.

  • Was not looking for a signature model bass (not my style).

Picked this one up and fell in love with it...instantly.

Great sounding and the neck is incredible.

    It had me at....maple

  • at 0:27 i thought there would be a rap-part because the voice just matched with the rythm for 2 seconds xD

  • ha ha! totally.

  • @MachMalWas HAHAH thats exactly what i thought

  • lol, it does

  • @MachMalWas lol i hate wen im gona comment something and i think "this is gona get highest rated" but then the same comment is already in the highest rated

  • @MachMalWas omg dude, I thought the same thing! hahahaha

  • @MachMalWas hahahahaha....nice...same at :16

  • @MachMalWas im so glad i saw this cuz i was just about to say the same thing.

  • @MachMalWas haha totally! redneck rap!

  • @MachMalWas I was totally thinking that. I kept laughing. Dude, Im crying it's hilarious.

  • @RenegadeAssaultSquad

Dude...I thought I was the only one until I viewed these comments....I could barely see them through the tears of laughter though.....I bet Geddy Lee's slapping his thigh somewhere out there, too. :')

  • @MachMalWas I've tried, but I just can't stop laughing.

  • can somebody tell me how the tone is different because my fender mex jazz sounds just fine. check out my spirit of radio cover

  • @BassDude50000 the neck

  • @BassDude50000 i meant the body

  • oohh gotcha

  • "They crackle with life and bristle with energy." I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE

  • i have a geddy lee and it is a glorious bass to blas. the neck is amazing! the tone is truly singular. ive recently played other basses but i cant get over the way the necks always feel

  • i own this bass, it absolutely rocks to play, i cant get over how sick the neck is. no fender will ever play as easily as this one, no matter how much it costs, because the neck is one of a kind.

  • Fender needs to make these necks an option on all there USA made guitars (im talking about the Big Blocks[The black squares])

  • hey everyone, i have a question: i love geddy lee, paul mccartney, flea and many other awesome bassists. i would love to buy a bass, but i'm afraid that my friends would tell me stuff, like bass is for idiots, and such. i have a guitar, and i like it, but i also love the easyness and the epicness of bass. should i get a bass guitar?

  • your friend would just be ignorant to tell you that, because bass is just as complex as guitar it just bepends how much time you're willing to put into playing it. go for it if you want one, I play bass and love it

  • your friends are rehabs bass is one of the most important parts of a band

  • yes! get a bass guitar! it's just as complex as guitar and it's a lot more fun I think ( I play guitar and bass)they sound great if you get with active pick ups and a nice amp cabinet with an amp head. but you know small amps work too. haha. get a bass

  • soudesune20 you need to learn to think for yourself and stop being ruled like a mindless lamb. Think for yourself and stop being a copy cat version of everyone else. Let me tell you something music is about fun, it's not about who is better then another person, that kind of thinking is for immature kids. There are bass players out there that will make some guitar players look like amateurs. Some bass players can do on 4 strings what some guitar players can't do on 6. Think for yourself.

  • Amen to that! I don't get why he even gives a flying fig what his "friends" say.

  • pamt726 some people are like that, they can't do anything without other people's approval. They are like sheeps.

  • IMO: Guitar is harder to learn; easier to master. Bass is easier to learn; harder to master! World class bass lines did not originate from dummies who just placed their fingers on some frets. Most people can identify a song because of the bass line. Take the bass and drums out of the band and you have doodoo. Few popular songs have made it w/out a bassline -- Princes' Purple Rain is the only one I can think of. If you want to learn the bass, why care what your moronic friends say?

  • i know i cant stand it when my friends say that bass is gay because "you" dont hear it in the song, they say i should've play guitar.

  • @pamt726 It's true that any decent guitarist can play simple pattens on the bass and make standard rhythms that you hear in most music. When you look at playing at the top on both, it's a different story completely. Playings portions of scales legato or even say minor arpeggios beyond the chromatic octave of the open strings is a standard practice for a guitarist, it's an serious advanced skill set for the bassist (Buzz). Also, things like harmonics are more difficult on bass.

  • great bass!!! i've made an upgrade with the custom shop '60 pick up...wonderfull!

  • those pickups come standard in the geddy lee jazz bass... Wow...

  • it's just a relic jazz bass that says geddy lee on it so they can make it cost more. the only thing that's differenet is the neck.

  • where it manufactures?

  • Made In Japan, nice!

  • that is an awesome bass!! could someone tell me what "low action" means

  • low action is a setting where u adjust the string height as close as possible to the frets.this results in a relatively easy to fret bass guitar with lots of string buzz.

  • Oh cheers :)

  • low action= greasy funk?

  • IDK what greasy funk is...but that sure sounds cool though...

  • There is very little space between the fret board and the strings

  • Wanted one , needed one , had to have one , GOT ONE and LOVE IT !!!

  • Great bass - lovely low action, stays in tune really well despite temp differences and has a punchy sound. Worth every penny - grab one while you can! A future classic I think. Drop D tuning takes it from Mean to Lethal!

  • i put a black pickguard on mine looks sick

  • what a bass... I bought one last year!! Use it for gigs!! sounds brilliant and has the lowest action ive ever come across!! Rock on all Fender Players!

  • How's it sound in drop D? Anyone know?

  • Works very well. Great clarity and solid bottom.

  • Thanks! :D

  • It is good in all tunings. So far, since I bought it from Morrellmusic, I've had no issues. I recommend you use at least 105 gauge strings.

  • depends on the strings but its cool

  • I wish that this was available in a 5-string version. I'd buy it but I already have a 4-string J-bass...

  • the one bass that I plan on purchasing next.

  • are the pickups active or passive ?

  • Passive.

  • does this bass have a battary ? if yes where is it ?

  • No, it's passive.

  • well I bought mine, its getting here next week

  • You're getting a great bass, hope you enjoy it.

  • yep, wednesday is the day, it will be a day I will remember, my first actual bass guitar

  • You guys have great prices. Most sites sell them for $850.

  • cool video, thanks.

  • Wow, I feel like I just watched bass porn. Heehee! That's a beauty :)

  • that bass is sexy

  • It's nice, but a big head....

  • I meant Heavy Head.

  • you think so? I didn't notice that when I played it. Anyway, many players like that.

  • Amazing Jazz sound! What is your gear in this clip?

    Beto

  • its an incredible bass for the price, you guys are going to hate me for this one, but i got mine for 250 used from a friend, perfect condition. though, even at list price, the bass easily compares to ones hundreds more

  • i hate you for that

  • how much is a normal geddy lee jazz bass on average? like 700? or more?

  • yeah around 850

  • $799 plus our 10% yt coupon.

  • haha Nick Oliveri does bass advertisements now

  • This is an A+ bass. I own one, and it just plays so well I don't think i wanna pick up another instrument!

  • i love my geddy lee jazz. alot of people paid like $1,000 or $900 for it. i got mine brand fucking new from a consignment shop for $600 out the door! i was so happy.

  • what where how please tell me!

  • SWEET! They even alluded to "spirit of the radio" by Rush (of course!)

    "Invisible airwaves

    Crackle with life

    Bright antennae bristle

    With the energy..."

  • i have this bass also, and it's the bomb !!

  • how much does one of these basses generally run for $Cdn and does it have to be ordered?

  • 400-700 used

i got mine at guitar center brand new for 800

Its really worth the money, I liked it more than the 70s Reissue jazz bass fender has.

  • I mean $1000 lol.

  • I have this bass and I got it for a really good deal but I would have payed $100 or more for it. It's worth it. BUY THIS BASS BUY THIS BASS BUY THIS BASS

  • While trying to sell Fender products, what better website to quote from?

  • way to qoute fender's website.

  • It is indeed quite the bass.
