holy fuck thats insane. i've been playing guitar for 3 years and practice at least 3-4 hours a day and i cant shred for shit compared to this guy. he's incredible. not anywhere near as good as syu, but still very very good.
@BendoGecko I would, but i like my music with actual effort put into it, not to mention talent. I'll keep my collection of everything from Satoshi Katada to Muddy Waters to Hank Williams, and you keep your sonic ice pick lobatomy, ok?
@x93sasukex Anime uses songs that were already made by musicians..Its very rare that a series get its own theme made. And songs like this aren't picked very often in anime. Its almost always J-rock and -J-pop not J-metal.
@x93sasukex Yea true i see that trend too. Im asian too but from my stand point its the Japanese players who all play the anime theme-ish music. Just to prove the difference search up popvoravit
I find it quite funny tbh, I'm lostprophetscrazy95 but on a new account, glad to see that my comment got so much response even when it was meant as a joke, as it is I've seen however many comments saying that they can play this song, but I don't really care to be honest- I mean now I play stuff that makes this seem kinda shitty in comparison, but the fact that everyone's downing this guy so much is quite sad tbh. He plays what he plays and makes it sound good, so fuck the haters I guess haha
I think that some of his tapping parts where pretty sweet but I thinks he pretty awesome better then me right now but I go for yngwie to be at my top for now
@bestiaonthedrum Hes really pretty awful. Besides the fact that he really isn't musical, his chops aren't impressive and his playing isn't clean. Listen to Guthrie Govan, Shawn Lane, Brett Garsed, Greg Howe, Jason Becker, Takayoshi Ohmura, and dozens of other guitar players who don't suck. I'm into the whole shred thing, but this isn't good. I don't know how you can't hear it.
@WoWandMetalFTW i know greg howe, jason becker, takayoshi ohmura, not the others, probably cause i don't like their kind of music. I'm not a guitarist, but i can hear if one plays pretty tight: for instance, Satoshi plays better than michael angelo in his old speed kills video (i'm talking about sweep-picking). I say that a guy sucks if he plays like shit, and Satoshi doesn't play like shit. And will you tell me why this is not musical? what's your idea of being musical?
@bestiaonthedrum It's not musical because it's just an assortment of sweeps anybody could learn in a year.. Hes not even clean or proficient either. He has no real sense of phrasing, timing, or melody.
@WoWandMetalFTW if you say so... now i can say that i'll never be a guitarist, even thoug i've been playing guitar for about 12 years... (btw, i'm a drummer).
@bestiaonthedrum If you can't get to this level of technical proficiency in a year or two, you're not practicing enough or properly. There's a reason theres literally hundreds of thousands of guitarists that are extremely proficient technically...it's not as difficult as most make it out to be, especially if this is what you're going for.
@bestiaonthedrum I'm gonna have to agree with WoWandMetalFTW...if you consider this top class guitar playing you need to listen to more of the guys he told you about.
@BrianGuitarShred this is not top class, but doesn't suck either, imo. If this sucks, many guitarists in the world should just quit playing the guitar right away. Btw, remember that here he was 19. Now he's probably gotten better.
@bestiaonthedrum You don't have to quit because you're not a top class guitar player...you just don't have to do shit like this and try to pride yourself as a spotlight guitar player when you're nothing above average. Especially with the excess of technically proficient guitar players since the early 90's. Jason Becker's "Perpetual Burn" came out in 1988 when he just turned 17 -- not to mention his work with Cacophony earlier on at 16.
@BrianGuitarShred you're qutie confused: you say this is shit and then that it's average, so what should young guitarists sound like? it's good to hear that if one is not top class he doesn't have to quit, but according to your opinion one must play better than Satoshi, so we return to the starting point... you simply hate Satoshi, and haters can clearly piss off. God bless you, fucker!
@bestiaonthedrum I didn't say YOU have to be top class to play guitar. My grandpa can play guitar if he enjoys doing it, more power to him. You don't have to be good to enjoy playing guitar either, you just have to have fun. Guys like Satoshi are incredibly average bedroom guitar players, and giving them instructional videos and big budgets is exemplification of playing that simply isn't a big deal.
@BrianGuitarShred After 1 or 2 years? seriously? I practiced for at least 5 hours everyday and never quite reached this level until my 4th year. I do agree that there are plenty of guitarists out there that can play at this level, but can they write like he can. One thing is playing and another thing is being able to write/compose. I've known plenty of guitarists that can play stuff like this but can't write worth shit. This guy has talent, there's more to music than just getting the notes right
@CherubicGuardian The writing's the LEAST impressive part out of all of this. If incredibly generic and average songwriting based around the arpeggios of the day for this guy moves you emotionally, you're missing out on seriously good writing by legitimate greats.
@BrianGuitarShred First of all your argument makes no sense, because just about all modern music is based around arpeggios and chords, it's a little something called harmony. Also, I honestly don't know what kind of music you're used to listening to but this is definitely not generic, the dude definitely has his own style. I'd like to hear some musicians that sound like this if this is so generic as you say.
i can compose, playing not so good. However, I can play anything I write :-D! Also, if I can't play what I write, usually with practice, I manage to do it.
@CherubicGuardian I agree with you. It took me 4th years of intense study (7-8 hour per day) to reach technique level like these. P.S. NO PAIN NO GAIN ;)
you know why they dont show his whole face in this video? its because thats actually syu. You see, syu's awesomeness could not be contained in just one body. So, he spilt into two people, thus creating satoshi katada
Love this song. Satoshi is indeed a talented guitarist who has his own unique style of playing. That sweep tapping is so darn clean. Pity that I can't seem to find out what happened to him and what band he's in now or anymore of his music. For the people who say that this has no soul or feeling, check out from 1:01 on. That clearly has feeling to it and if you're too ignorant to understand it, you clearly have no soul yourself. Darn Satoshi, making me envious. =P Wish we'd get more from him.
well it seems that we cant show our shredders the same gratitude that these asians do so thats where they all their shows are ! here in the F'n states we get buthole surfers fudge tunnle KURT COBAIN jonas brothersarrgghhh i cant take it any more!

Yes, he knows his stuff, but you can't say there's no soul in this. You can clearly hear what he's trying to express, and the fact that he can do that while being that technical and fast just shows how good he really is.
@JordanFlayer i personaly have no idea what he's trying to express. you only have to look at his face to see that he's not puting any passion in to it he just looks like he's trying too hard to be cool.
I don't really want to start an argument, as you have your own opinion and I have mine, but I want to say that a guitarists facial expressions have nothing to do with the sound and soul of the notes.

@wisd0m18 race does NOT effect the aspects of talent, it's pretty much how much hard work and dedication you contribute into what you really want to do.
