They helped Apple only because the government was going to break apart microsoft into 2 companies. One that handled the operating system, the other that sold application software. Apple licensed technology from Xerox that Microsoft stole. Apple sued Microsoft but lost in court with a bad ruling.

I wish I would have taken my own advice and invested in apple in 97/98! They are in such a bubble with a market cap of 181B, second ONLY to Microsoft in the tech industry. With a share price of over $200, I would be rich right now.

Don't worry! Over half of Apple's product sales are outside of the USA, and with 50-90 store opennings planned for international locations (2 for France); you can BET their sales will increase. Sure volativity will happen but quite a few analysts are projecting stock price to $300. Also note its been 2yrs since a stock split. And if the economy gets healthy again worldwide you can BET it'll rise and split mid 2010.

If Apple lose this clone court case their in just now it will finish them when it comes to making hardware and they will be reduced to selling Mac OS as stand alone, then we will se how 'stable' it is when it has to run all the different Mac clone hardware configs out there.

Well, everyone has a right to an opinion. I use both a PC and a Mac, the PC is my main games and internet machine, whereas the Mac is where I write my documents and make presentations (from my experience, iWork is much better than any PC office suite I've seen), and also play games. It really isn't about the daft fruit logo, it's just a damn good computer, and I think there's more to a good computer than being able to handle most programs or peripherals out there.

Apple is over priced and it is not better in anyway, OSX is only designed to work with a very limited number of hardware configs, windows is designed to work with EVERYTHING, that makes it far in advance of any limited, obscure OS designed to run on shiney colourfull bits of crap. Sorry to interrupt your child games guys, but there really is no way to compare the three OSes. Windows is run by a corporation, and is closed source. Apple controls the ecosystem of the Mac, which can be for good and worse. And linux is driven by a gigantic community, but since large portions of their support comes from individuals it may be hard for them to focus their energy on one objective. A corporation would do that better.

To sum up, it's really a matter of taste :)
