U r stil a novices if u say Avatar was the best movie made.... Coze even UP had a story which had never been told and in teh manner it was told was also unique...although I did see traces of many away from home stories attempted earlier...Up in the air was original...like most of the Clooney movies. Yes, I do agree that there were more movies to consider than Hurt Locker. If you notice academy was also confused...hence ten nominations.

The Hurt Locker won because the Academy thought it was the best film of the ten nominees. The producer who broke the rules was not allowed to attend the Oscar ceremony, which seems like the best punishment. Since it had nothing to do with the quality of the movie, there was no reason to disqualify The Hurt Locker.

You are saying the only way Avatar could have won was if The Hurt Locker was disqualified. Does not sound like you have much confidence in Avatar's quality as a film. Weird.

I think Inglourious should win the award because it relies mainly on dialogue to get the tension across and were the editing not sufficient, then it would not have been as good. If not that then District 9.
