  • Who ever dislikes this are fucking STUPID!! Lets see you sing like Daniel Gildenlow!

  • wooow lml

  • This is superb.... No comparison really... This is real, omg, can you not feel it!!! Brilliant!

  • Comment removed

  • the only thing I don't like about this video is the volume is really low.

  • HALLGREN's Screams!!!!!!!! Duble Triple Master Thumbs UP!!!

  • i don't understand why people don't like it..

  • he does what he wants with his voice... absolutely GOD!!

  • The singing was overdone in this performance, the studio version is not so exaggerated and is way better.

  • @andresordo

I completely disagree, this version absolute destroys the studio version. It's not even in the same league, but to each his own I suppose.

  • @Adam1349

The studio version exemplifies the anger in the song, while this brings out the hurt beneath it.

I like both, depending on my mood either will feel more fitting.

  • The lyrics are just.. T.T

  • I've never heard any other singer capable of channeling this level of emotion into their singing. And it just sounds so fucking effortless!

  • I love it...

  • If God exists, the voice of this man have His touch... incredible

  • Man, I wish Road Salt One could have been this great in terms of the songwriting...

  • 4:10 pure raw emotion

  • @juanbrujox you suck dude, both DT an PoS are really great, but you must be a closed mind idiot so, fuck you :D

  • 4:10 --> SHIVERS DOWN MY SPINE

  • local rio Ganges

  • love it!

  • I personally liked this version better than the album one. More emotion in this one and has got some sounds and elements of surprise that are very pleasant

  • album version better

  • Wonderful! Fucking love the part when he cries!

  • 4:07-4:13 fucking moving..

  • @marrydruli Fucking or moving? Make up your mind.

Oh, the song, yeah... supposed to comment on it? I'd prefer to simply listen in awe.

  • @Calhor Just fucking moving.

  • 18 justin beaber's fan (or justin beaber x 18)

  • Best version of Undertow imo. So much more sense and emotion in this version and the Fredriksons piano empowers that amazingly well!

  • 18 people broke the things they love.

  • SUPER PERFECT

  • Let me break the things i love i need to cry! =/

  • THIS IS FUCKING ART!!!

  • 900 people have taste !

  • he sounds a little bit like kevin gilbert at times here

  • Such a powerful song. Even more powerful when you see it live, the emotions in action. Wonderful!

  • This brought me to tears now, I've never seen this live and Daniel is so fantastic in it. If they play this song in the next Brazilian concert (in June), I think I'll die! *_*

  • 16 people are absolutely lost in life. Maybe Justin Bierber fans.

  • Best Progressive Band in the last 10 years

  • @shiny367 Please say 'My fav Prog band in the last 10 years'.

  • Thought this might be a TOOL cover.....uh nope.

  • I can't believe anyone is capable of sounding like this. Daniel is not human.

  • Beautiful, amazing.

  • Which year was that?

  • @PaniGrejfrut 2007 i guess

  • Definitely one of most beautiful songs I've ever heard!

  • Pain of Salvation is absolutely amazing, Daniel displays so much emotion and the band does an amazing job as well.

  • 13 people accidently hit "dislike" button..

  • Very good song! It reminds me of Pink Floyd a lot tbh!

  • The singer exagerate just too much and many artists do the same thing (like Rihanna. It is the worst example, but I don't find any other choice : ). I like more the album version personnaly, the album version win.

  • @freminick123 I respect your opinion at all but I don't share it at all.

  • This is incredibly touching. I love you Pain of Salvation.

  • 13 idiots dont like it...

  • @devnullis

please next time, when u dont have something interesting to say, dont just comment on the ones who dislike a video.

  • can't wait to hear it again live in two months. . . !!!

  • nice! exept for the haircut o.õ

  • @Ominislasher Wow, I find this haircut extremely cool, much better than his new emo look. '-'

  • Wow, I just saw Daniel Gildenlow humble himself at 1:44 /4:49

  • THIS IS PROGRESSIVE METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @sairamsridharaa This is Pain of Salvation.

  • amazing performance, the art of emotions

  • oh my god :D

  • It's Summer on stage

    Cloudy outside...

  • I'm both a DT and a PoS fanboy. I don't know why not listen to both?

  • @FranLesPaul man I sure do! Can't get enough prog metal

  • @FranLesPaul cuz DT sux ass big time.. these guys are sooo different, don't ask me why

  • @FranLesPaul My two favorite bands of all time man. Fuck yes.

  • Why did Johan decide to scream "die"? it was kind of hilarious...

  • why are people going on about DT? I am a very big fan of their's and recently started listening to PoS as well, you can't really compare them or anything because they are different, DT is more about technicality but that doesn't make them any less of band, PoS, has a bit more emotion, ( especially Daniel ) they are both great bands and there is no point in comparing them because it doesnt change anything about either of them.

  • this is amazing song... i love this emotions and music...

  • Used to be a DT fanboy, but switched over to PoS because a lot of their songs can be heard through the ears of actual music instead of technicality. I mean, for all those that want to argue about DT's songs, just read some of JP's interviews on how he got inspiration on a lot of his later songs, he says that he was shredding many times during jam sessions...besides, I doubt any of them are as musically inclined as Gildenlow

  • @iqsymphic

i also was a DT fan untill i heard the perfect element

and found it noticed how boring DT are no emotion whatsoever

  • VERY inexpectful in the culmination!!!

  • Nothing else to say, but Magnificent.

  • I love Daniel's display of raw emotion in this song. It makes me cry almost every time. This is why music was created, to convey our feelings to one another. This is my favorite performance by PoS.

  • "Let me break the things I love, I need to cry"

    Perfect.

  • @Adam1349 why? that´s stupid.

  • @plasticPlaystation Maybe he just meant that Daniel uttered those few words in the most perfect of ways, you mr. smartness...

  • @LordFeanor89 Maybe he screwed it up ... he isn't perfect you know, Mr. dumbass

  • @plasticPlaystation He is perfect! :)

  • @plasticPlaystation

Maybe shut the hell up, whether Daniel is perfect or not is irrelevant, nothing can take away the feeling of pure beauty and perfection I get from his utterance of that line.

  • @Adam1349 Seriously I don't think he can even understand, he'd be probably hugging his playstation right now, lesser concerns for lesser beings...

  • Simply great..we have to spread the word! Long live PoS!!

  • Johan Hallgren <3

  • One of the most heartfelt vocal performances I have ever seen. I can actually feel his pain @4.03-4.30. It's beyond "music" - it's pure art!

  • is there a single Pani of salvation video out there without comments comparing pain of salvation to dream theater??? THEY BOTH ROCK!! enough said.

  • @hypnocSlayer i used to say the same, after a while you begin to wonder why only pain of salvation songs leave memories.

all respect to their music, dt has no heart in their songs

    cCc denyil reyis cCc

  • @klasto Here I must stop you from saying fucking absurdities. I too prefer bands like PoS or Symphony X over Dream Theater, though I might have not thought so some year ago...Still this is not the point. Saying they have no heart couldn't be further from bringing "all respect" to their music, and couldn't be further from the truth as well. Try to listen to Metropolis pt.2 if you have doubts about their heart. They have heart to sell, I can assure that.

  • @klasto

Listen to somenthing other than Panic Attack

I'll could give you at least 20 songs with "heart" from DT.

  • I know you guys might bash me for this, but I was at best buy and I was looking for pain of salvation, when I actually came over a band called P.O.S. Actually, it was a hip-hop guy who was pretty cool! Pain of Salvation is one of my favorite bands, but I just wanted you guys to know. -Peace

  • This is so good! It's why we listen to music... Some people are of the mindless dancer crowd. Others are like me, of the hard rock, prog, heavy pompass speed metal shit. So to bring it all together seems logical... ? Yet, it doesnt happen, and divided we will always be...To each their own, and long live MY SHIT!!! Ha ha ha...

  • The passion oooozzeees.

  • I really like this band for many reasons, this song in particular. I really don't see why some try and compare bands of this caliber. All of the bands are great, and all should be given the credit due them for their music. I'd hate to have only bands that sound exactly the same, we need diversity, so quit the comparing and enjoy.

  • love so much this, incredible rendition.

  • This is possibly my favourite Pain Of Salvation song. Daniel Gildenlow is an amazing singer.

  • Daniel's most amazing performance, for sure. He exhales emotion in every single note he sings. 04:09 - just beautiful.

  • Needs moar volume

  • Dramatic and brings forth feelings I didnt know I had.Top shelf talent fer shur.

  • i wonder how many people in the crowd were fucking crying their eyes out

only a few songs will ever bring a tear to my eye this and seeing mother fucking jordan rudess play some piano man is a god

  • I love songs like this that make tears come to my eyes

  • I cried when I listened to this song for the first time. Wow!

  • Was hoping for a Genesis cover. This is still good though :)

  • the greatest live performance u have ever seen. so raw and powerfull, daniel nearly cried. i never liked the album version, but the live version is a billion times better

  • Great.

Watch my channel for a song of the new album Road Salt.

  • Geat DVD.

Watch my channel for a song of the new album Road Salt.

  • Ti apistefto kommati... Eleos, eleos tha spasei i kardia mou

  • this is a tool cover. tbh i think tool play it a little better

  • @PeteFAQ ??? are you crazy?

  • @PeteFAQ lol, if u think there are the same song then u dont know nothing about tool or POS so dont talk if you dont know if there a diferent song man

  • Raw emotion. My heart didn't have a chance. I yield to Pain of Salvation.

  • Comment removed

  • this is a tool cover

  • @tosatori No its not.

  • @ahigherstate I pity you

  • @tosatori Undertow by tool is a very different song. Check out both lyrics and you'll see :)

  • @EJ6289jizzcock suck my kiss

  • @tosatori A Tool cover? Either you're an idiot or the worst troll ever, I just don't know. I'm just going with both to be sure.

  • @algiasphere lets compromise and call it a TROLL COVER

    you ass sandwhich

  • @tosatori Thanks for proving my point. Now go waste someone else's time.

  • a lot of pain...

  • i prefer daniel's singing on the album version.. just because uses a deeper tone or whatever.. but this is still great

  • and if you like pos i think you should check out Vangough and their album Manikin Parade.. sometimes they sound TOO MUCH like pos, but still interesting stuff..

  • People who like PoS will also like a band called Koi, check out "Koi-The Rabbit" for proggy stuff and "Less Than Abstract" for their mellow atmospheric style.

  • Koja seljačina bez majice nastupat nije zaslužio interpunkciju već punkciju

  • I really really really prefer the studio version, like really

  • @ Shreddah,

I think all of POS is pretty amazing, so i'll agree with you, but i dont think this is the heart and soul of pos.

It's one of their more catchy songs. And so sad. I often find myself saying... Let me go.

  • Divino!!!

  • Okay, 1 - I want to download/buy this version

and 2 - I want the staff music for piano for this song!!!!

  • awesome..

  • great preformnece for the greatest song

  • this song and the album its from will always be my soundtrack to hyperion, which is a great scifi novel!

  • c'mon..it's the flow, dude

  • wow

  • I listen to this version more than the album version. XD

  • @Aniland i agree i think i have at least 2k views on this now haha

  • Great version of the song!!

  • Not the best song recorded by them. However, they can NEVER do a better performance. This is the absolute most emotional performance I've ever seen of this genre. So many artists just aren't serious about their lyrics or intrumentals, but it's is incredibly obvious PoS means every word.

  • @Capndroid

Are you kidding me? Undertow is probably one of the most rememberable songs POS has made.

  • I have heard at least two variations of this song. The one recorded on the official Remedy Lane is not "Mrs. Modern Mother Mary" poor quality, but it isn't top notch either. It's just another song, it's borderline good-mediocre. It's when they put so much emotion into the song like here at Masstival that you can't help but remember the performance.

  • amen, I had an idea to make the perfect video for this.... instead of revealing it... I'm just gonna have to eventually do it so nobody steals the idea from me, lol

Agreed on most memorable song. I can't believe how many aspects of music it covers. Yet I manage to love it all. And I'm a metal-head at heart.

  • Capndroid has a point. This version has so much more going for it when it comes to musical direction, dynamic contrast, and expression. This version is a million times better than the studio version.

  • @Capndroid so damn right!

  • I could hear this song for the eternity :)

  • To all of you arguing: music isn't about who can squeeze the most notes in a second or who can write the most complex songs. I recognize DT members are amazing musicians, but when it comes to portraying emotions through their songs, no one does it better than PoS (or actually, Daniel haha). Just listen to this song if you don't believe me.

But seriously, just enjoy the music and stop arguing!

  • @algiasphere yea ¡ you are rigth Pos music transmit alot emotions ...

but any way DT And POS rock ... both are amazing bands. two of the best bands that ive heard ....

  • @algiasphere this is so true.

  • @algiasphere i love dream theater but they are insanly overrated for their technical skill. Since when the quality of music depends on its complexity.

POS is amazing for the reasons you just said

  • @wadungalungasertotin Pain of Salvation generally have more complex song structures than DT imo.

  • maybe you're right. i have to get more into PoS

  • That said, I prefer DT's overall catalogue and their music isn't about the technicality, otherwise they'd just be another yawn-prog band.

  • @algiasphere

Those are words are wisdom my friend.

  • @algiasphere I totally agree with you, and this particular song in this particular version just gives me shivers *___*

  • only God could have writen this song..

and the more I love it, the more it breaks me..

  • i never get tired of listening this song. it's so intense

  • BaZerKo1985 hahaha what a funny reaction. All you can do is simply laugh about it.

  • so good.

  • 04:01-04:12......

  • it makes me cry.

  • James LaBrie is not in the same league as Daniel Gildenlöw, yes. But DT still has Petrucci, Myung, Portnoy and Rudess all of them which are better musicans than the rest of Pain of Salvation. I do still prefer PoS over DT though :)

  • GOD A LOVE THIS SONG!!! so full of feelings and the lyrics are majestic

  • BaZerKo1985, Kill yourself xD

  • este grupo es lo mejor que hay en la vida

la musica que hacen es increible para mi

no hay mejor musica que esta el progre

es lo de hoy y no hay banda que la supere!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • But one question remains in my head after reading your comments: were you born retarded or are you just brain damaged? PoS are a great band. In my opinion they outrank DT by far, though there's nothing wrong with the latter one either. Quite on the contrary actually.

  • yes... he is brain damaged... if u meant on BAZERKO...
