I still play yu-gi-oh and manged to make a super over powered dragon deck with still using the original blue eyes white dragons with paladin of white dragon and red eyes darkness metal dragon. I can summon my REDMD just by removing a dragon card from play and can summon any dragon from my hand or graveyard once a turn with it ability! I also use lord of D so no one can destroy my blue-eyes easily... I still <3 yu-gi-oh... :D

Yu Gi Oh and Magic the Gathering are both great TCGs. YGO is easy to get into and because it is simple lots of people can get into it. MtG is a lot more complex and it has a much deeper and richer experience. I always found YGO to be more of a gateway TCG, and if a person is into YGO it is easier to get them into MtG. Just don't approach it like MtG is the greatest and YGO is crap, because you'll never win people over with that attitude. Educate them kindly and all will be happy.

Magic the Gathering came first and are the biggest TCG out there, then comes Pokèmon and then comes Yu-Gi-Oh!. I don't play Yu-Gi-Oh! because of the anime and mangas, I play because I like the concept. I play Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh! and some WoW TCG and Duel Masters, but I must say that both Yu-Gi-Oh! and Magic are fun in their own ways. Also IMO Yu-Gi-Oh! have some more originality than some TCGs out there already. I of course are just speaking my mind on the matter. Regards, Kavasiki.

I've never played Magic the Gathering but I bought a set of the cards once for the heck of it.

I won't lie, though; I like Yugioh for the strategy-- that's the main reason why I got back into it recently. But if Magic has that type of aspect as well, I wouldn't mind giving it a shot.

@xMelancholyBaby Magic has Strategy in spades... there's nothing else like it. in fact, unless you specifically rigged it to be so, you would never have two games to be exactly alike.

the cards themselves actually change the rules of the game, if they conflict.

you use an artifact/artefact, and it says that you "have no hand limit" even though the rules say it's a limit of 7, you are exempt because of the artifact.

and there are very strong theme decks. ELVES. look them up.
