  • changing it to 9.10 worked for me. Thanks, I've tried some others but this is my favorite screen capture add on.

  • +++

I made the switch to Screenshoter. Working fine so far.

    +++

  • I only got this to successfully work by using the current version number in the emmax line. instead of 7.8 i typed 8.0.1 and now screengrab is back!!!

so every time firefox updates this process will have to be done again i reckon. Thanks for the great tutorial Properjock!

  • current version of Firefox that is.

  • @vitaminB17 You've lost me! :S

  • @ProperJock instead of changing the 3.6 to 7.8, i typed 8.0.1 (the current version of firefox) and that is how i got it to install. if i used anything less then 8.0.1 i got a firefox error that it couldn't install because it wasn't updated.

  • It works.

    Thanks a lot, ProperJock!

  • Great job man , but this does not support online upload of the image ???

  • Hey Guys, I've changed the numbers to "8.9" and finally worked! Also named to ".zip" instead of ".rar"

  • Thanks its working awesome...

  • Great Video. Desperately needed that info. BUT Yes I had to change file when archiving to ZIP AND before that had to change the numbers to 9.10 as I had FF V 8.01 and changing just to 7.8 is not enough. Worked perfectly after that. Thanks ProperJock. Like you name, good one for a Scotty.

  • Naming it .zip rather then .rar was the trick. Thank you for the awesome solution!

  • I had to change the numbers to 9.10. (running Firefox 8.0.1, so 7.8. said it wasn't compatible) and save it as a ZIP instead of a RAR, but it worked like a charm! Thanks. :)

  • I followed everything exactly how you did it in the tutorial and also your suggestion with changing the version numbers to "9.10.*" and trying to name it ".zip" but I still could not get it to work. I still get that the file is corrrupt. Help?

  • @GoogleIt023 If you've tried everything then I'm afraid I can't help you. I simply don't know what's causing the problem for you. Here are a couple of suggestions. Make sure you have the very latest version of Firefox (currently 8.0). When changing max versions, make sure to leave the star in and don't forget to save. When putting everything back in zip folder, make sure you paste the original name of the xpi file, followed by either .zip or .rar. Failing that dude, I have no idea. Sorry. : /

  • To everyone getting the corrupt file, I think I've found the solution. I tried installing Screengrab on my laptop using this method and it also said it was corrupt. What I did was increase the max version numbers. So instead of "7.8.*", I changed it to, "9.10.*" Also, when I put the newly-updated files back into their archive, instead of naming it ".rar", I named it ".zip" Try that guys and let me know if that helps. Also make sure you have the most up-to-date version of Firefox.

  • @ProperJock Funny that you mention that. I actually tried changing it again from 7.8. to 8.9.-- which didn't work, but let's try your new method. Also, using a laptop, if that matters.

  • @ProperJock Oh yea, just by doing that simple difference I got it to work! Not bad for a beginner, right? Course, it was very clear directions. Anyway, thanks a ton! I was happy to find this plugin today and then disappointed when it failed.

I think I'll subscribe and see if you come out with some other interesting videos.

    Cheers~

  • @GuardianKiyoshi Glad I can help in the end and thanks for subscribing. I do have another few videos in production so keep an eye out for them. :D

  • @ProperJock Thanx!

  • @ProperJock This works perfectly. Thanks :D

  • just to add to this, it shouldn't matter what version, as long as it is the EXACT version w/ a variable e.g. 8.0.* ( * being the variable). As for the issue of corruption: usually when converting the filetype (aka renaming) from .rar format the file becomes corrupt. When converting/rename it from .zip format however, the file should read properly. Simply do as the video states, but instead of using the .rar format, use .zip. You don't need a "higher version from your current version.

  • I followed your very detailed steps to a t, but when I did the drag and drop, it said my file was corrupt.

  • @GuardianKiyoshi Read my latest comment above. :)

  • Thanks for all the comments guys. I really appreciate it. Please understand that I'm not a Technology expert. If this method doesn't work for you then there's nothing I can do. This tutorial was created to show everyone how I got it working. It will work for some but not for others. If I don't respond to your comments with regards to this method not working for you, please don't take offence. Chances are it's because I don't know how to help you.

  • @ProperJock Hiya the method you have mentioned has really worked and thanx a ton. I appreciate :) God Bless...Cheers!

  • Hi. Great vdo. But unfortunately after following all the steps it showed me that the file cannot be installed since it might be corrupted :(

  • @mak3upfanatic I got the same thing.

  • @mak3upfanatic Read my latest comment above. :)

  • But it dont seem to work for Palemoon on windows 7 %(

  • mate, why complicate the lard outta it?? why not jus sum it all up with a rename to ~.rar, then justa little doubleclick IT!!!!! with a highlight over the blasted file and another right click to "EDIT", that right there, mate lets you modify the file for the change, and/but of course you would have to UPDATE the archive. JUS cause rar is so badass you dont need to uncompress then re-archive, lol %)

So you jus gotta rename back to ~.XPI and drag and drop. and its all done. No offense mate.

  • @B4ever2gether While I appreciate your feedback, I also resent it. There was nothing complicated about my tutorial and as you can see from the comments, it's helped a lot of people. I just like to explain things in more depth so that people have a better understanding. In regards to Palemoon, I had no idea that existed until right now.

  • thank you very much!

  • it good it

  • Thank you for taking the time to create this tutorial, works great. I like notepad++ it formats the files and is better to edit files :)

  • Thanks ProperJock. Clear and useful description on how get SC working with later versions of FF. I changed the EM to 8.1 and works great.

  • @shaky211 Thanks dude. Glad I can help. :)

  • Dont work for me. I did it like you say

  • @pocketbikefreak666 Then I'm not sure dude. Are you using a PC or MAC? Did you install WinRAR? Did you drag the updated xpi file into your open browser window? If yes to everything, then I don't know what else to say dude. Sorry.

  • @ProperJock I didnt used Winrar but 7zip. But i think that should work same

  • @pocketbikefreak666 I recommend using WinRAR. It's what I used in the tutorial. If you do exactly what I do, using the same programs, it should work. 7-Zip does work but there's no harm in trying WinRAR. You never know. :)

  • Good to know about the max version in the install.rdf file. It works in Firefox 8 in Linux. Cheers!

  • Great stuff Guru..

  • More easy: Download this xpi file goo.gl / 6XvC7 and click Ctr+O in your Firefox, select the xpi file and restart.

  • @kiyogwil If that works for you dude, then it's all good. We all have our own ways and this works best for me. :)

  • @kiyogwil Thank You!
