  • I have a Pruis an I get 50 mph to the gallon and my Prius only holds 9 gallons!

  • @yummyr23ocky im not that desprite that i need a prius to save gas :P lol

  • Here is another tip my uncle uses in his navigator L. he drives in 2wd when in good weather and when he is gonna stop he puts the navigator in neutral and coast to the stop sign and when he gets there, he puts the brakes on. but that's with the center gear shift in SUVs saves gas

  • No Fat Chicks is one too

  • I save money on gas by putting my butt to the car nozzle and providing natural bodily gas to the car. It runs pretty well and I aint have to pay a cent!

  • I can't believe they left out plopping your carcass down on a bicycle seat and pedaling your ass around town

  • i find that driving 90 on the freeway gets me better mileage

  • Talk about hot i have a black mazda 6 with black leather, the car gets seriously hot starting in spring if i park it outside even with the windows open alittle, tinted windows and the sunroof tilted with the shade slighly open.

  • Awesome tips!

    Thanks!

  • Very good tips. You should make some things into a habit.

  • Thank you for posting this video. These tips will enable automobile owners to drive in style while driving their gas bills down.

  • why must we americans save fuel , wats the point of the middle eastern conflict anyway , we should be bathing with gas by now .

  • and if you put like 10 bucks in yout tank and it doesn't fill it up when it gets done pumping turn the gas pump up side down why it's still in your car and you can get a free half cut full of gas i hurd that on a youtube video can remember wich one

  • @sardorn Turning the NOZZLE upside down doesn't do shit. When nozzles shut off, they are closed off 100%. You're not going to get one drop out of it once it's stopped pumping.

  • drive an h1 turbo with low tire psi and floor it every time lol

  • wow...Americans complaining about the price of oil. You have the cheapest in the Western world!!!!! You don't invade Iraq or support dictators in Saudi Arabia for nothing.

  • katie couric is so beautiful

  • drive manual bitches or learn to

  • @parkourer100 yup.

  • how bout homemade hho fuel cell

  • Avoid long warm ups? lol, save money with gas, but how much you gonna pay for a new car when you crack the block?

  • You fuckin americans have cheap gas

  • @YPUK0PALMY Considering we don't manufacture it, go fuck yourself.

  • @oldsoulpro You motherfuckers freak out and complain when it gets alittle high and we're paying time over on what your paying

  • About the AC part, that has been proven to not be an issue that it was once believe to get worst gas milage when on when in fact with your windows done, you get worst, city or highway

  • these are all good tips, I drive a stick and I just realized my CobaltSS 2.4 requires premium lol... I do get better mileage with premium, but yeah I own an SS but I drive it like a Prius haha!

  • @StevoElsupremo lol premium gas required in a Cobalt? My aunts Cadillac dosn't even require it.

  • @watso64 I own a cobalt SS 2.4 and they come with high compression pistons that require premium fuel.

  • @StevoElsupremo lol im running a bored over camaro right now and i always rund 93 with octane booster around 95 so ya i put 89 one day starting knocking quitly

  • This is the best video I've come across on YouTube for saving on petrol.

    Many thanks :)

  • @KhalsaSoulja i agree! it should save up some bucks!... you should also try using reverse charge call services like 08000mumdad to save up more bucks!

  • you can actually get better mileage if you fold in your mirrors but that isnt good

  • Learning to save$ is a great survival tool. Too many lost their homes when fuel prices went up they were in the everything all the time mode never took a moment to say what if. Here are some of the what ifs, Fuel prices raise will I be able to afford to move an hour away from my job? I never get time off from work so I never get to use the boat but I still drive a v8 truck to pull the boat that I never get to drive am I going to be able to afford this?

  • At LSU it is free to take the tiger trails bus and it covers a lot of territory. It runs on weekends till 2 am and the busses are full a lot of the time but don't let that discourage you the busses often have another bus less than 10 min behind the other bus.

  • hahaha, use public transit, BS

bus fare here is $3 each, so if i take it twice, its $6 right there.

it can give me 10 liters of fuel.

  • I made 55/60 my new interstate speed and went from 48 mpg to 55.I take the routes that have the least resistance ie less stops and have found a route that has activity sensors to change the light to green quicker saves both time and money. Studying the patterns too keeps me moving one route can feed into a one lane another feeds into two with many outs. The fastest isn't the winner it's the most consistant.Remember the harder you work that car the sooner you need another$.

  • @cdltpx those sensors you are talking about do not change that fast for they are located right at the end where you woud have to STOP anyways then you wouldstill have to wait for the other liht to go red to get the green.

  • many people in the past made an engine that can take 200 miles in one gallon.. some invented even better ones... this tech is not introduced to public due to oil companies bribes etc... anyway.. they claim that such tech isn't fully removed from the public.. u can find the patent and make the engine yourself .. gee i wonder how many can do that.. so yes this is another way to save gas ..if you know how to make engines.. just thought i add another way..

  • 300K miles$4.gal different mpg you know who you are? 55=$21,818 50=$24K 40=$30k 30=$40K 20=$60K 15=$80K 10=$120K Ask yourself do you have the correct vehicle for the job? Can you freight tools or can your company offer you space on a truck if you request. I ask b/c I see empty pu trucks commuting to work they rarely have anything in the bed pu truck gets 10-25mpg. Hybrid car gets 50 mpg easy it isn't hard to do the math only you can evaluate your ride. These are safe cars why don't you save?

  • do not stop at red lights or stop signs. That will save gas

  • maintaining may help but it is how the car is driven. Accellerating to 4000 rpm uses tons more gas than accellerating to 2000 rpm. 3000 to 5000 uses the most so when ever possible using the cruise control, it helps keep low rpm. This doesn't mean being slow. Be as close to the speed limit as possible. Aslo, don't drive like a jerk, fit keeps people from speeding to get around you.

I hope this helps, I know it does for me.

  • i PAY JUST .08 PER GALLON NOW THAT gas has reached $4.00 -- Don't believe me -- I don't care hundreds of others have and are saving BIG MONEY

just visit gas066DOT1staDOTcom for the detials then ACT - Not many left --

  • All good tips, I've been filling my gas tank half way for years and saving gas. I first did this when I noticed a gas smell and gas on the ground whenever I filled up, I've done it ever since.

  • lol..that is funny because one of the most important things to do to save gas is fill up when your tank is half full or half empty! the reason for this, the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster then you can image. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof to serve as a zero clearance between the gasoline and the atmosphere. So that would minimize the evaporation. I am not saying that half the full would not save money

  • Crap!! So carrying around a half full tank permently, is cost effective because of evaporation? Bullshit! Fuel weighs a lot, so less weight mean more mileage. If you compare fuel with the weight of water (10lbs a gallon) a half full tank could weigh approx 500lbs. How does that compare to a bit of evaporation????

  • Gas is heavy (the sources I googled said about 6 pounds per gallon). I've always had my tank filled up halfway to prevent spillage, except when I'm on vacation and know I'll drive the excess off quickly. Every time I hear "fill your tank up", it's always a different hokey reason, the people that started that rumor are the same ones that want you to buy more gas, they don't care if that gas leaks out on the ground.

  • Gas on the ground. Liquid gas under the car. On a hot day. After a fill up. Does not save money or gas. Leave some room for expansion!

The rubber skin thing sounds interesting to save fuel, Ford did research into a rubber bladder type tank that was intended to be fire/explosion proof, I wonder if that type of tank would prevent evaporation and save fuel?

  • I commute 100 miles/day, 5 days/week, all year. ~90% it that is on the motorway. if I fill up on a Monday, by careful driving, and sticking to ~56mph, I can make it home on Friday. On the first day I have to carry 4/5 of the weeks fuel back and forth unnecessarily, on the second day I carry 3/5 unecessarily, and so on. Ideally I'd need to put the exact amount in for the days journey, but thats yet another chore in my already loaded day.

  • Yea slow driving mothafuckers like you are the main 1's i run of the road

  • At least he's not Kat William's hoe.

  • I'm only driving slow to save cash for other things, but don't worry I always give wankers like you a run for their money. Gobby shysters like you get the jitters when the speed goes well over the ton twenty. Anyway I probably did fuck your mother, I bloody hope you're not the result. Now piss off and grow up some. Don't bother to reply I won't be answering you, I have better things to do.

  • Time to invest in light rail real estate.

find real estate, rentals and jobs near light rail at LightRailConnect com

  • SUVs SUCK ANYWAY

  • How about drive less, walk, bike, take public transportation, ride an electric bike or scooter... or buy a high mpg car.

  • Totally agree, its not rocket science but just good old "common sense", or more correctly named "rare sense" seeing as there isn't much of it about these days.

  • high performance airfilters save on gas i suggest for everyone to invest in a k&n or Fram Air Hogs air filter they are worth the money in the long run

  • Yeah, not driving around your flashy Hummer to do errands might help!!

  • Don't drive an SUV is another.

  • hahhahahahaha.

  • well actually there are some suv's that are 4 cylinder i think u mean't to say

    don't drive an SUV which is a v-8 ! =)

  • There are meny ways to save on gas

  • Save gas. Lose weight. Get smaller cars.

    And don't invade Iran.

  • @TheophilusPWildbeest thats funny, true, and unfortunately no congressman cares

  • @TheophilusPWildbeest actually, it wasn't only about gas. However, you can reduce the amount of gas you need by making your own biodiesel or alchol fuel. You will need some diy skills. Further more, most gast is wasted on very short rides. You can take the bike and you will burn calories as gas. That's a far better fuel

  • @HomeImproving Actually I know something about biofuel, technologies are at an advanced stage but not yet commercialised. Wait two years and see where fuel comes from, you might be suprised, but it won't be available in such quantities as the middle east can provide so we have to get the most out of every gallon. America has to realise that big cars are a thing of the 20th century - ie history. If your car doesnt get 40-50 mpg or more then it's out of date.

  • @TheophilusPWildbeest tree hugging dumbass. If big vehicles are a thing of the past then how do you suppose people haul things? How do you suppose a family of 5 takes a family vacation with luggage? Some people need larger vehicles and larger vehicles get bad gas mileage. They are never going to go away and they are not out of date. Trucks and SUVs are necessities for many people. But people like you can have fun living in a large city, driving your smart car to get to your desk job.

  • @cstritz Europeans use trucks too, when there is a need, but they are 2 litre turbodiesels for farmers and construction people, not 5 litre V8s for everyday use. And yes I've got a family of five and live in a city. I get 42-44 mpg driving from both our cars, more on a distance run. I've taken them across Europe in a regular car with a roof storage box on top. It's not difficult, it's just better technology and a positive attitude to improvement

Or maybe it's just that my family weigh less.

  • @TheophilusPWildbeest haha ok. Well I agree on the diesel over gas but over here diesel costs about half a dollar more per gallon than gas does. I also feel that when traveling for long distances comfort is a must and you cant be comfortable with 5 people packed in a car that seats a maximum of 5. And I would say my family is in pretty good shape but I will admit that was a pretty funny joke if it was aimed at Americans as a whole. Way too many Americans tend to not worry about their obesity.

  • @cstritz Yeah, sorry about the stereotyping, I thought later that joke might be a bit much for some people, but clearly we agree about one thing at least. Respect from a skinny 175lb Brit.

  • @TheophilusPWildbeest dont invade iran or iraq

  • @TheophilusPWildbeest Oh you forgot one, get an electric car. Right?

  • @askaboutRudyV Nah, electric cars are powered by coal fired power stations and their range is limited - not good.

Technology is changing fast, have you seen the new volvo v60 hybrid that has 276 bhp, 0-60 in 6.9 seconds, does 148 miles per gallon, and has CO2 output of 49g/km. I'm not making this up, it goes on sale next year, though it is a little pricey for now at £40000. Wait a few years and all cars will be like this - until hydrogen fuel cells can be made affordable.

  • @TheophilusPWildbeest Well, I know that's not really a possible option for everyone, but it will be eventually with time.

  • All of these things are almost un noticable to your gas mileage. Such as: air filter, unless its covered with tar, and doesnt flow any air it wont make a noticable difference. Color wont make a difference unless u use ur ac, in which ac uses bat power. Also starting your car with radio/ac on will drain your battery but will be replenished down the road. Gas vapors arent much to worry about, if your gas starts to vaporize while you pour it because its so hot... well then global warming is rly bad

  • an air filter makes a huge difference.

I drive a 1997 chevy astro mini van.

i get about 700km per tank (approx $90).

after replacing the air filter ($12) i got closer to 750km per tank. after filling up ONCE, the air filter paid for itself.

    It's a good investment.

driving smarter makes the biggest difference. accelerate slowly and smoothly, pay attention to whats going on 30 seconds ahead of you. if you see a red light ahead, ease of the gas and coast, rather than breaking.

  • a/c is run by a belt, not electricity. the a/c is a pump.

  • Yeah, the A/C is a mechanical pump, but the fan that runs at the same time isn't.

  • nice video
