  • hey we burn the wood "much larger in diameter" to harden it before we shape and carve it

  • yes exactly...

  • not sure what was said but i think you were making some kind of rainforest tool / weapon if needed.

  • Not technically a Taiaha, but it would still be a usable weapon of war in hand-to-hand combat. His is more similar to the Aztec Maquahuitl.

  • thats not a taiaha in afraid... the determining characteristics of a Taiaha are that it must have an Upoko, and a Tinana (Head and body), as the shape of the Taiaha was derived from an ancestor.

But it was a pretty cool piece of bush craft wood working :D

  • Not too bad! Good work

  • @youseemreallybored i think he did g haha

  • I just made two taiaha for myself of african hard wood. The carving took more time than shaping and polishing. It a really brutal weapon. I just love them.

  • He said "fakard" thats pronounced similar to what you heard.

    Fakard means wood sword.Fa=wood, kard=sword

    :)

  • This makes me wish I understood Hungarian. I'm interested in the taiaha, especially in why one might want to fashion one in a bushcraft scenario.
