  • @oldsoul216 hell yeah! it's like how led zeppelin were influenced by willie dixion in a way

  • This is stripped-down total raw and sensual music....unbelievable......

  • The only correct comment to this should be, "mmm mmm mmm mm mmmmmmm"

  • He's mean muggin' sooooo hard on this picture, it's probably how he scares his guitars into submission/

  • real deep south, you'll never understand this if you haven't lived on the bayou god bless Bayou "La Bacher LA. Where i first heard this man and where i'll call my home for the rest of my days. R.I.P. Junior!

  • fuel for your soul

  • Absolute love.

  • Whoa, I see where The Black Keys found their inspiration...

  • raw blues, top top tune!

  • so fucking gritty......the chills start when the guitar kicks in and they dont stop till the song is over....straight powerful, intoxicating shit...simply amazing

  • Music like this touches the soul like nothing I've ever heard.

  • Hey guys this is jr Kimbroughs Grandson and i play drums for my uncle now and we're out here at Bikes Blues&bbq...Ill be uploading vids from tonight. We're headlining the show and trying to continue my Grandfathers legacy. Please feel free to inbox me or subscribe....

  • Oh, dear God.

That guitar tone is so dirty it makes me go weak at the knees.

  • This music is blues distilled to the thickest , strongest ,purest southern spirit ..

  • This man IS the Blues.

  • Pure, raw, mesmerizing - Thank you Black Keys for leading me down a path to Junior Kimbrough - the real deal.

  • This just ain't music, this is an exorcism, it's a religion, its love, its hate, its real, it's magik, it's just beyond words and for Junior it's what he HAS to do do, he couldn't have lived not doing it I believe!! WOW!

  • FUCKIN BAD ASS JAM!!!!

  • Merci ! Junior a les yeux de mon père . Il est très beau . son Blues est hypnotique et rugueux , il marche les pieds nus sur la terre . Quelle spendeur !

  • one smooth operator...

  • Totally primal......

  • once is never enough with this song... just gets me feelin so right !..

  • you hear that Dan Auerbach is influenced by him, not just guitar, but voice as well!

  • Holy shit, seven minutes just went by in a flash. Fucking Hypnotic!!!

  • Deep and endless groove, guitar sound so raw and nasty I got cuts and scrapes all over me. This is the real, authentic sound of the American South: unadorned but not uncomplicated, simple but not simplistic, produced by humans not by producers. I only learned of Kimbrough from Buddy Guy's Sweet Tea album and now I see where that comes from. Mississippi Fred McDowell and Bukka White are other examples of this kind of REAL music which is one of the few, authentic artistic creations of America.

  • King of badasses

  • Buddy Guy's best album, "Sweet Tea" has covers of this song and "Done Got Old" both by Jr. K. To me, this is the heartbeat of America.

  • I was listening a Iggy Pop cover of You better run when I discover or He siscovered me. Junior Kinbrought , A GENIUS who never dies... His music is amazing and now I trying to buy this only but EPIC EP.

  • looka here chirrun this here's hill country blues music. talkin bout go on down to the juke joint satday night maybe get a little maybe get your throat cut

  • it's a DEEP groove

  • this is something else.. makes me just want to drift away ... Ive got to hear that again.. that put a chill through me!

  • such a good song, now only if I could find tabs for it.

  • youtube is blues haven for us all to git our mojo rite

  • Jr gots roots ! wow

  • polin' a pirogue thru the bayou shotgun at your side lookin for redemption but only findin more swamp

  • dirty groovy blues, try junior kimbrough on!

  • I really do like this version....it's raw almost primal....but I love Buddy Guy's better. His is a smokin, hot cut.

  • blues so deep you can swim away on the groove

  • Que ignorância essa cultura. NOTA 10

  • I love this stuff.

  • What's depressing to me is that I realize the blues just don't sell. Sometimes I think surely people would understand the value of this music. But I don't know. It has always seemed that the blues had to be repackaged or disguised in order to either get promoted or appeal to a wide audience. There's so much ear crap out there that breaks record sales and guys like this go unnoticed. Or maybe a lot of people did hear it and just stole it or dismissed it. At least we're hearing him now.

  • Damn son.....why did it take so long for me too find this!!!!!

  • I just got Buddy Guys cd "Sweet Tea" and this song is on it...I like this version but Buddy seems to always take it up a notch...

  • he lived poor...and died poor and obscure, nothing flashy, just alcoholic and macho! the way the blues should be, not like BB, with flashy suits and guitars...blues in its purest form

  • stuff's absolutely hypotizing. it just gets in your blood and keep replaying in you head all night. kimbrough was a freakin' monster! guy'd scare the hell out of marilyn manson! thank God fat possum managed to record him before it was too late. Lord knows we need stuff like this today...

  • This is where it is at!

  • gots ta try me on some yellow # 7! ; )

  • bethoven is in no comparsion

  • Damn, if this song ain't as good as a Jack Daniel's shower.

  • good upload!!!!!

  • oops, never mind had pandora on!

  • ummmm... did anybody notice this is Led Zeppelin?

  • Great album cover, just great.

  • 46 years old 11:29PM sitting here rockin back and forth

listening to this tune with a big ole grin on my face....

  • Dear God, this is dark, gritty, transcending and above all hauntingly addicting. God bless the Keys for opening my eyes to blues.

  • iv'e always loved the blues, mostly the deep southern delta blues like fred mcdowell to john lee, thought maybe iv'e heard most everything until i heard the black keys go at it and found junior, love that fuzz

  • Just wanna get shit faced and blast this at full volume through my entire house.

  • shit!! that was awesome!!!

  • For some reason, I always describe his music as "trance blues"; that's the best I can do. I always remember blues is dance music when I listen to him.

  • crazy how similar DanAuerbachs licks are to Kimbrough...wikipedia says he is his biggest influence. Great Stuff

  • reverberating through my mind and tellin me somethin is gon on

  • this aint the blues it's voodoo.

  • @dharmashooter

You got it right. That's how I describe Junior's stuff too..."voodoo"...There's definitely some magic going on here. Don't even think Junior knows where it comes from.

  • @dharmashooter Damn Straight!

  • @dharmashooter haha indeed man

  • Goddamn..

  • hypnotic

    junior is the man.

  • I love this. It's not clean, it's not safe. It's life. Unpredictable. It's great.

  • great

  • It's definitely hypnotic, not what you expect from blues. I didn't like it at first, but by the end of the first song I listened to, All Night Long, I was entranced - and hooked. Amazing bluesman.

    RIP David Kimbrough

  • tHIS IS HYPNONOTIC...I'LL FIND ALL HIS STUFF SOON AS POSSIBLE...

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for posting man. I, like a lot of people, wouldn't have heard about him if it weren't for The Keys. So thanks to the The Keys as well.

It's great music and if you let it, it definitely hypnotizes you. I mean that in the way that you can't turn it off or leave until it ends.

  • yeah i tried to junior, well see ya at the gate and these technos wont be there thank god

  • Killer ass fuking tune!!!

  • gear.

    the black keys main influence.

they done an album of his tunes.

  • I have been waiting to hear junior kimbrough, as a fan of the black keys I can say I love this music.

  • Jesus talk about The Black Keys stealin someones sound, still love em though...

  • Kimbrough did plenty of "stealin" himself. That's the blues way.

  • Kimbrough just kicked my ass with this song.

    A new level of cool...

  • This is amazing, when was it written? it sounds like everything the black keys got they stole from this guy

  • dan auerbach even plays in his 2 finger droning style, but i think he aknowledges juniors influence and is original enough that it couldnt really be called stealing in the traditional sense. without the black keys i doubt i ever would have heard of him or at least bothered to check him out.

  • This is BEYOND WORDS in my book!

    PEACE

  • buddy guys also does a sweet cover on his sweet tea album...

  • Got the album a while ago. Its great want to share it withyall

    rapidshare (DOT) com/files/223765685/Junior_Kimbrough_God_Knows_I_Tried.rar

  • Thank you! Thanks so much!

  • holy shit this is good. its my first time hearing this and im diggin it. now i see where the black keys got their sound from.

  • I think junior had something like 38 or 39 kids from different women, so yeah, he got ta try a lot of girls.

  • holy shit... thats epic.

  • screamin jay is said to have sired approx. 75 bastards..

  • Blady hell!

  • I love this song too.

I play it sometimes with my band.

  • I feel better instantly

  • Amazing stuff, man.

  • I first heard this Feb. 16 2009, man this song blows me away. I reminds me of a Doors song the droning repeatitive guitar. One awesome tune!!! 5 stars!

  • I got hypnotized!

I also uploadet 1 song from Junior. Check it out :)

  • ***That was supposed to be in response to inthebluescrossroad's question about what's going on with music today.***

  • Hot Damn this is excellent!!!

  • One of the best of JK's songs. The sound is so unbelievably thick and distorted and the lyrics - he must have been suffering much from longing I guess! :) Great post, thanks!

  • This hypno-blues gets better with every listen. It's up there with his 'Most Things' LP. More, more, more... somebody post some more.

  • man! this blues makes the rock of this times sound like lame rubbish...

the mainstream rock bands of this days dont have balls to play music as simple and powerful like this

thank god for jr kimbrough and rl burnside

    rip

  • Now there's a face of a bluesman. I am in awe..I accidently found the black keys and now I am onto there influences..amazing.

Thx for the post. Thx to YouTube. Awesome, awesome medium.

  • @ElHajjMalikElShabbaz Same here brother, good to know some other people out there are into good music!

  • @ElHajjMalikElShabbaz aint that the damn truth lol

  • Comment removed

  • @MonroeCt So what you're basically saying is that you can't play real blues unless you're ugly or look a certain way, correct? Sir, do you know anything about the blues?

  • @ElHajjMalikElShabbaz ~ Agreed! N the same with finding TBK N now I am in AWE of Junior

  • @ElHajjMalikElShabbaz same here! Just discovered them both for myself today. So glad I did! Where have they been all my life?!

  • @ElHajjMalikElShabbaz I got here the same way. Through The Black Keys influences. Junior Kimbrough is fantastic!

  • cant get enough of this....

  • damn whats happening to music!!!!!!!! wheres the soul in it....gone gone gone

its out there, but i have to go through so much trouble to find music with feel to it. its rare to hear "real" music today the radio is such crap!! they should have an independent radio station just like NPR for the news but instead have it for music so we wont have to listen to garbage on the airways any more!!

  • WEVL - Memphis, TN!!!!!!!

  • Mississippi Gabe Carter.

  • sho 'nuff

  • Man, I saw the Black Keys a little more than a week ago in Austin at the ACL music festival and they were simply amazing. I have always loved Blues since I was a kid, and their sound just has something to it. Its good to hear their inspiration.

  • I don't know buddy GUY very well, juste "Sweet tea" album.

Anyway, no, I don't the black keys ...

  • Ahh, you should check out The Blacks Keys then. They made a cover album from some of Junior's work. It sounds really good. The album is called Chulahoma: The Songs of Junior Kimbrough

  • Thanx. I listent to them on few clips on YouTube, I like very much. They sound so raw and pure. I got to buy some discs of them now, and also Junior.

  • Indeed.

But with such an hypnotizing power, radio stations would be pursued for providing drug ;-)

Actually, I discovered Junior thanx to Buddy GUY and his ability to play beautiful false notes (the most beautiful false notes I ever heard) on Sweet Tea.

  • I'll check out Buddy Guy. Do you listen to, or have heard of, The Black Keys?

  • Wow. What a great "bad" sound. It's far from hi-fi and it's damn so good, so lively.

    To listen without end.

    Thanx for posting.

  • Thanks. You hardly hear this stuff anymore. And you'll never hear it on the radio here in North America. It's a shame.

  • Awesome. Thanks for sharing this.

  • You're very welcome.

  • read up fools, blues legend.

  • this song goes for my girl Roxy... love you baby.;)

  • Thanks for the comment.
