  • Not to muddy it up a bit, but I have the Cameo C155A 45 entitled Rock A- Tonga and it sounds exactly like the Rock A-Conga posted, also Cameo C155A. The flip is Am I Blue and is recorded at the same tempo as the audio here... sorry Spitalhatch, I tried to bail you out :-) A minor mystery that I'll have to check out. Thanks 1lenny.

  • It's more than 50 years, so perhaps it;s my memory, but I can't help feeling that the version I had was slower than this one. Could The Applejacks have made more than one version, or is it that my marbles are playing up - always a possibility!

Great music, whichever way you look at it!

  • @Spitalhatch Too fast for you? 52 years ago it probably sounded slower as most music in 58 were rockers.I remember it was a great tune to jive to.

I know the Applejacks had two tunes back to back on the charts. They had "Rocka-Conga" & "Rocka-Tonga.Both had the flip side "Am I Blue. This is the only version I have and can remember.

    Take care now.

  • @1lenny

    That's probably right!

Now I've slowed down to such an extent that the music sounds fast!

    Brilliant!

  • Thanks Lenny - brings back all sorts of memories!

Those were the days when you could really immerse yourself in the music - and my goodness, didn't we feel rebellious!

  • @Spitalhatch You're very welcome.Yeah we were all rebels without a cause, for sure haahaa. Those days the music meant something.

I added a couple more applejacks tunes.Check them out and comment if you care too. Thanks for stopping by and have a nice day.
