but why you never flashed your lights to the cars in front so they should go to the right and leave the free road to the merc... in 3/4 of the cases there was a free lane f0r them on the right...
1. It is prohibited to flash your lights to request the car in front to change the lane. It is said to be road rage (Nötigung).
2. Many drivers do not want to drive on the right lane because they feel "to fast" for the right lane. But even Tom Hanks knows: "No matter how fast you drive in Germany, someone is driving fast than you!"
Why don't you use highbeam when you have a slower vehicle in front of you, as the red Polo at 2:58? I mean, the annoying thing is that the Polo driver occupies the left lane, without letting you overtake him.
In Germany people drive so much better than in my country (Portugal). Here we see trucks overtaking other trucks on the left side of the highway, nobody uses the turn signals when crossing lines, people stay at the left when somebody is coming faster, they don't move (like what happened in 7:49 and nobody overtakes by the right.
@MrTheMiguelox I am Portuguese too and i undestand perfectly what you said... we still have to evolve a lot in terms of driving manners to reach Germany standards
Great driving! I wish the autobahn had three lanes instead of two all the way. So smaller cars taken over other smaller cars can stay on the first two right lanes along with trucks. And the powerful cars like yours should be in the farthest left lane going at full speed without having to slow down while smaller cars take over other smaller cars.
Yes! This is the western Europe life; always being a pleasure to take your car to a drive on the highway. But in eastern europe mainly in Romania. First of all you can't have a nice car like this Mercedes S-Klasse unless you are a politician, a mafia guy, or a smuggler.Second if you have a nice limousine, you will probably keep it in the garage because the roads are build in the communist time somewhere around year 1980 and we only have 350 km of highway out of 16.062 km of drivable roads.
Yes I used to live in Germany. This brings back good memories of when my dad took me down there with our BMW M5. I love the autobahn. Here in America, the spee dlimit is pethetic, so is the food:)
You're a good driver. It was obvious you wanted to accelerate and the jeep was slowing you down, still you didn't think even for a second to push him or give him a signal with the lights. If only more people were so tolerant...
love it ... the silence and comfort will sure relief you from anything and that smooth surge of POWER will make sure you wont feel asleep...please God give me the money to buy it
Deiner?
what a lucky guy you are, autobahns in germany are so fast, man here in montreal they suck, yesterday , i trided to go out and drive, i was at let's say 90 miles, i feeled like i was at 140 mile, roads in canada are just garbadge !
if only drivers is Ireland wear as good as the Germans i go to Romania with my dad and my favorite part is driving on the Autobahns in my dad 1.9tdi A4 so fun when your on the no speed limit parts. i have a question tho out of all the Autobahns in Germany what percent has no speed limit thank you and you have a very nice car.
It's hard for me to say, since I live in an area with almost no speed-limited zones. In all Germany I'd say that only one third of Autobahn is completely unlimited. Some stretches are limited through the day and unlimited at night. Most speed-limited zones are around big cities, though, where heavy traffic prevents you from driving fast anyway.
@Laserfrankie ahaa thanks for the reply.people think that it's 'dangerous having no speed limit on a road but in fact it's the exact opposite because people will respect the zones with speed limit because they know their are plenty of open roads wear they can drive fast.. Germans can do amazing things when they put their mind to it.
Yes. On paper, a BMW 7-series or an Audi A8 might be as good. But they don't have character. The 7-series is a magnified 5er and the A8 is a magnified A6. There is no own identity or design language to separate them from their smaller brothers. Compare an E-Class interior to an S-Class and the difference is huge! The S-Class and the new Jaguar XJ both make you feel special. But only the S-Class is also almost perfect. 7er and A8 are brilliant but arbitrary, almost boring.
@Laserfrankie And this superiority by the Mercedes comparing to BMW and Audi is just on the S-Class or the C-Class is better than the 3-series and better than A4?
please answer: is any diference between diesel and petrol at the s class ....i mean comfort....do u feel any annoying vibrations in the diesel or no..........is the ABC not avaible on 4matic? in romania is avaible only on rear weel drive ......do you think the S is the most comfortable and relaxing cars vs lexus ls or audi a8 ?
Well, I can only compare the 350 diesel with the 350 petrol and I would definitely prefer the 350 diesel. There are no vibrations whatsoever with the diesel. It doesn't even sound like a diesel. I believe the ABC is available on all S-Classes but might be an optional extra with some models. I haven't really checked but why should they leave it away? I haven't driven a Lexus or an Audi A8 yet, so I cannot tell anything about those.
I agree with what you have stated. There are exceptions to this rule. Nissan has the Skyline and the 370Z. Honda has been a hit or miss, but they have made some interesting cars. Lexus from Toyota is slowly heading in the right direction, but they still have a way to go before they have exciting cars. The same can be said about Ford.
The French and Italians have abandoned the American market due to poor quality over 25 years ago. They were pushed out by the Japanese with better quality.
What is your opinion about the quality of the Asian cars?
In the United States and Canada they have captured market share at the expense of the European and American manufacturers due to their reputation for excellent reliability and quality.
Hyundai/Kia is growing due to much improved engineering and a terrific warranty.
I am surprised that Honda, Nissan and Mazda do not sell more cars over there. They enjoy a very reputation here for good quality.
Quality of Asian cars is good but they somehow do not manage to make cars with passion. They aim at the market for "reasonable" cars. Once in a while they make an exciting model you would want to have but the follow-up model is crap again. That inconsistency has prevented the Japanese from really conquering the market here. Good quality is not enough, when the cars are boring and dull. Things are different in USA, though: The Asians took profit from the decline of the Big Three.
Importers only make up 39.1 % of the German car market. American car makers are represented by Ford Europe and Opel but aren't considered importers, since their cars are developed and produced here. "Real" American cars are only a niche market for enthusiasts. Biggest importer is Skoda with a market share of 4.5 %, runner-up is Renault with 4.0 %. Biggest Asian importer is Toyota with a market share of 2.6 % but Hyundai is catching up with 2.5 %. Numbers are from 2010.
