Ford is now top selling car maker in Canada (sry toyota, honda, gm), and has higher customer satisfaction than mercedes in 2010. If all continues Ford will be debt free by end of 2011 (not my estimate - Ford's accounting). GM and Chrysler will be in debt for a while, and till then Ford, Toyota, and Honda are the new big three. well 2011 is different. the new mustang thoroughly smokes the camaro with the help of the new 5.0L Coyote engine. with 412hp and 390 ft-lbs the 1.2L smaller mustang engine creates more power per displacement unit than the chevy 6.2L V8 used in the camaro SS. running a smaller lighter setup as opposed to the camaro's wide heavy setup the difference is enormous. a stock mustang also creates more grip on the skidpad, and runs faster 1/4s. the new mustang cleans up in all categories.

@MrThefactis It's curb weight is in the 3000lbs range from the factory. Those gt500 are like 3850 w/driver. Cobra jet also has an aluminum block, k-member, A/C delete and splashe covers removed. More weight distrupution to the back. Probably a 32/58 balance. That's why its more likely to lift wheels up.

There was no reference in the previous post as to whether the Challenger was stock, only that GM and Chrysler were the initial force behind this project. As previously mentioned, Chrysler had to change their approach, and GM couldn't even come to the party.

These cars are street legal in some places depending on emissions laws! The kr's say there not street legal but they have vin numbers and road use title. All this car needs to be street legal in some states is mufflers and street tired!

Actually the Cobra Jet cars don't have a VIN, and cannot be registered for street use. Just like the FR500 cars. BUT there are plenty of legal Mustangs that would SPANK the Cobra Jet Mustangs. They're built for a particular race class and are as modded as they can be for that class. And BTW they're dominant in their class.

I race in a class of S197 cars with my GT500 for the NMRA, they recently made a rule change to allow these CJ cars to run in our class because the original rules stated that the car had to be a street legal car with a VIN, license/insurance etc... I did not buy one, I purchased a legal GT500 b/c of this... Don't worry, no offense taken.

They didn't put a VIN on it because of the reason V1t4m1nB mentioned. It didn't undergo safety testing, it has no air bags, no cats, no EPA approval. So if you did all the things to make it street legal, it wouldn't be, because you cannot put a VIN on a car that never had one. It is IMPOSSIBLE to make it street legal. And Ford chose to do this for 2 reasons, to keep the car cheaper for the racer. (no testing or equipment to pay for) and keep the car lighter. The key to this cars speed is weight.

Wrong again. Stock is based on the original production vehicle. This vehicle uses performance parts that are not found on the stock production model that is for sale at your local Fucked on Race Day store, therefore, it is not stock. You suck at life.

Its not a mid 8second car. It has an 8.50 specifications roll cage. That does not mean it will and or does run 8.50s. My car could have a parachute but that doesn't mean it runs over 150mph.

Cash rich? Is that before or after you consider the $34.3 billion dollars worth of debt they had at the start of the year? They've taken that down by $7 billion due to 4 profitable quarters, but honestly, that still leaves them with $27 billion in debt, which is still more than GM has. Their interest payments are nearly a billion a year on that debt. Lets not forget the $6 billion dollar loan they got from the government for r&d into electric cars. Your tax dollars at work.

@nocomp222 How could G.M.owe the Federal Government 52 billion (of which they'll never pay back) and that amount be less than what Ford owes on loans of 27 billion that they recieved through the open capitalistic market?Ford is paying off there loans which tells me that they are CASH RICH!!They have close to 30 billion in liquid assets(cash) and could pay it off if it wasn't needed for operating costs! The 5.9 billion Department of Energy LOAN (not bail out) is being paid off with PRIVATE funds!

Ford owes $27.3 billion. The reorganized GM owes $8.1 billion coming out of bankruptcy. The government owns 61% of the shares in GM, so selling off is how paying back $50 billion dollars will happen. All 3 companies are still insolvent, so their focus should be on paying down debt and returning to real profitability. Of the 3, Ford is doing the best I think, but it hardly has room to goof off.

We don't know if the taxpayer will ever recoup those dollars. G.M.'s claim that they paid off the loan with 8.9 billion on bailout dollars of 52 billion is ludicrous! Don't fall for it! They and the Obama administration just did a quick shuffle of T.A.R.P. funds (taxpayer dollars) to try and fool the public that the bailout cash was paid off.

Ford has some smart accountants and taking advantage of that low interest Department of Energy loan two years ago to increase government mandated C.A.F.E. standards was smart accounting and good corporate governance! @lander4545 Nothing could make me agree more - Ford is going to faceroll GM the boss 302 is almost as fast as the z06 at 1/2 the price 0-60 in 4.0 12.3 quarter and pulls 1.03 G on the skidpad. Not sure what is out there for 40k that can come close. When it comes to quality off the shelf go fast Ford has the engineers to make some amazing vehicles. (raptor, boss, Cobra Jet, new 5.0, ST focus, Raptor XT, Boss 302S, Boss Laguna Seca, and the Boss transam legal)

@Daytonaman675 0-60 in 4.0 is not almost as fast as a Z06. It's almost as fast as a stock $49k corvette (which is 0-60 in 3.9) though, but it only does .98 on skidpad, so it can't compete on a track.

The 2008 Super Cobra Jet only made 435hp and runs low 10s, the 2010 runs mid 8s. Its got a 5.4L with a 4L whipple supercharger.

well lets get this straightend out.....on the 08's they had a 2.3l eaton tvs blower on them....this year they have a new 4.0l whipple on them....available with a powerglide or a liberty 4 speed....blower is pushing 26psi

It will run quicker/faster than any usa factory production car in a 1/4 mile ever. No problem. It has a 3.4l whipple w a ford gt alum block. The old ones will run a 9.7 w a auto. Or a 10 w a stick. Ford sells it directly so it is production imo. It is not street legal though.

First off, the solid axles used in Fords are the strongest you can get...ask anyone who has built a racecar/hotrod. A Ford 9in. axle is bulletproof. These cars are street legal in some places depending on emissions laws! The kr's say there not street legal but they have vin numbers and road use title. All this car needs to be street legal in some states is mufflers and street tired!

Actually the Cobra Jet cars don't have a VIN, and cannot be registered for street use. Just like the FR500 cars. BUT there are plenty of legal Mustangs that would SPANK the Cobra Jet Mustangs. They're built for a particular race class and are as modded as they can be for that class. And BTW they're dominant in their class.

@ Chad302beast: My last comment didn't show up (probably cuz it had a website in it) but if you go to the Ford Racing Parts website and look up the 2010 M-FR500-CJ you can see that it isn't street legal. I don't believe it is because of the horse power, but because the vehicle never underwent road saftey testing, as it was built specifically to race in the NHRA/

Chad, you don't know your Ford facts very well. I saw your home profile page, obviously apologizing for your frequent offensiveness. I race in a class of S197 cars with my GT500 for the NMRA, they recently made a rule change to allow these CJ cars to run in our class because the original rules stated that the car had to be a street legal car with a VIN, license/insurance etc... I did not buy one, I purchased a legal GT500 b/c of this... Don't worry, no offense taken.

Look i never said i knew they were street legal. I just said i couldn't see why they wouldn't be. I would personally rather have a GT500 also just because of the street legal purpose. I just dont understand why they wouldn't make it a possible street legal car. All it needs is a VIN. Why couldn't they just throw a VIN on it and make it at that. Better for the customer! But hell im no gunna lie i would love to have this car. But I'd rather have a GT500.

They didn't put a VIN on it because of the reason V1t4m1nB mentioned. It didn't undergo safety testing, it has no air bags, no cats, no EPA approval. So if you did all the things to make it street legal, it wouldn't be, because you cannot put a VIN on a car that never had one. It is IMPOSSIBLE to make it street legal. And Ford chose to do this for 2 reasons, to keep the car cheaper for the racer. (no testing or equipment to pay for) and keep the car lighter. The key to this cars speed is weight.

This is just the test body. If you look up other video's of this car its on a 2010 platform and looks so freaking sexy! You guys will love this car. Ive been keeping up with the researching going on with it for about a year now since they announced its arrival coming soon! And the cost is not going to be very high for these things. Actually i think there suppose to be cheaper than the ZO6. I think like $70k for them is what there asking if im no mistaken.
