You are not playing it correctly. Ritchie Blackmore made a video on the correct way. First of all, it's finger picked, not played with a plectrum. One finger holds a G pedal tone on the 3rd fret of the low E string. Then two fingers pluck the D and G strings in unison in the 0,3,5 pattern.

that style is for beginners. This guys style is the right, from my opint of view. You can play it easier, by first playing that 5 on D and A strings, then play 3 on D and G, then on the same strings 5, Second time the same way, but add on strings D and G, before the 5, an 6. Then rest is just going back, if you understand what I mean!

The notes this guy plays are correct, but the fingering is all wrong, like people have been saying. Also, it's wrong by the sheer fact that this guy is using a pick. Its done in power chords via A on the 5th fret to C on the 3rd fret to D on the 5th fret. and then do the other small power chord just above the D on the 5th fret at E flat power chord. THis is how its done with an electric guitar with massive amounts of screch. ;) If your gonna do it right then do it my way.

look guys, check out Ritchie himself on Youtube discussing this. There is NO open strings or big power chords. Just about every damned video I see of this on Youtube is wrong.
