If I have time I grab 3 scoops of chocolate whey protein powder, around 300-500ml of milk, 2 tbsp of low fat Greek yogurt, 1-2 bananas, 1-2 tsp of honey and blend that right up. and if avaliable i like to add strawberries and if i have them blueberries to :). fantastic, from this video it seems like I have been doing the right thing :) thanks
Use protein powder and glutamine in a shake after a workout. Thats the best post-workout food. Check out my profile for a link to an article that covers a great workout program. I gained almost 30 pounds in half a year using these methods.
say if im on diet, and want to lose weight, but i need protien in my body because im not getting enough from what i eat, is it good idea to buy those protein whey products? will they help me with my diet or make it worse, i.e. put on more weight?
very true sir, but if you tell people to eat sensibly and workout there's nothing to sell :0) Supplements are exactly that, there to supplement a diet. As a natural bodybuilder I've used them all. After loads of time and money you realize food is the answer. If supplements work that well why are there always new ones coming out? Why wouldnt something that works stay on the market, because they dont work & people jump to the new product year after year that claims it will help....good luck all
The only supplement that i know is worth while are creatine and protein whey. Any creatine would do, but when it comes to protein people should be looking after stuff £40 and above (or dollars...) That's why they stress the foods you eat, because they know its not the protein that is most efficient.
Actually while protein is important, carbs are more important post workout to restore muscle glycogen. This will also create an insulin spike to drive creatine or other aminos into your muscle. I'm definetely not saying not to get in protein, but a meal or drink high in protein say 30 minutes after your carb source is preferred.
after your workout eat a high protein meal or a protein shake with little carbs, then an hour or so later eat a high protein, med carb meal this is best for building muscle and reducing fat.
Come on man not pure sugar cuz such sugar needs protein and the necessary vitamins for the energy to be generated for work effectively so the best natural course of treatment is something rich in all of these (e.g. eggs, honey, etc...)
try peanut butter in it also! you need to have good fat with your protein for muscle growth and peanut butter tastes great in a shake with banana and chocolate protein powder!
i used to do this exact same thing. i found that if i have at least some protein shake before it's best though. This makes it so you don't have the blood all in your stomach because it's in liquid form instead of a food. When the blood isn't in your stomach it will be in your muscle that you're training that day which is what you want!
If it feels right then it is the right thing for you. I recommend learning to listen to your body and trust that!!! best personal trainer you can have is your own system and what it tells you. All else is back up!
Both. Having a constant supply of protein gives your body the fuel to build muscle. But getting a fast absorbing protein (whey) directly after your workout is most important because that's the time when your muscles are most receptive to absorbing it.

Does eating protein after workout build muscle or is it the other way around, eating protein before workout builds muscle.

What's a good source of whey protein?
IKnowWereYouSleep 3 years ago
After the workout you need proteine AND carbs. That is to move the body from a catabolic back into an anabolic state. Even sugar is good for that.
