My idea to cap the Gulf leak: use one of the external fuel tanks that are used to launch the space shuttle Cut the bottom of the fuel tank off. This would be the part to sit down over top of the leak on the ocean floor. The top could be cut and serve as a funnel which would have a pipe welded to it and ran to the ships above. The large pipe would slow the velocity of the oil coming out making it more manageable and better insure that the pipe would stay connected to the make-shift cap.
No UFO - just the venting of the liquid hydrogen in the tank for making the tank tumble more. Otherwise the tank would not get destroyed properly during reentry. The tumbling prevents that the tank just flies nose first though the atmosphere without fragmenting properly.
I think most of the external tanks burn and explode in the atmosphere by re-entrying. The others leave Earth's gravitation field and goes to the far reaches of space.
Yes.. Everyone External Tank reentry in the atmosphere and burn. If you're lucky you can see it burning in the atmosphere with naked eye using the orbital elements.
What we see there is simply the venting of the EFT contents before inactivation. Remaining cyrogenic components are burned up by simply mixing them by a nozzle in outward direction.
Strategically this is also used for braking the tank to it will descend towards earth.
The EFT is not recovered but will burn up during reentry.

where is this big tank going to,,,
is come with a parachute,,,
how many parachute with a big tank
bestamerica 2 years ago
No parachutes.
Only the SRBs are recovered and reused. The external tank is just left to burn up in the atmosphere and is discarded.
