  • Common misconception with AJFA, the bass is not turned down. It's an eq flaw. The guitars are so scooped in the mids they eat up the frequency where the bass resides and guitar sounds will always over power bass sound at this level. They just need to remaster this entire album. Honestly I love it to death, but in my car it sounds like ass turned up because all it is is guitars and the only real bass frequency comes from the kick.

  • @krtbossman no the bass is actually very low, watch vids that have the songs without the guitar tracks in them

  • This song...I love you, I'm gonna miss you...It's agonizing to think of the things we'll do without you. This...this...this this this...list of things you won't be around for.

  • Bass My Ass XDDD

  • A metal Masterpiece.

  • first of all - this song is ridiculously amazing from start to finish... and also, is this jason's bass track boosted, or your own bass playing added? also, does anyone know exactly which riffs and melodies from this song were actually written by cliff?

  • I had a series of dreams...metallica was in one of them...they were up having a good time somewhere that was supposedly Columbus...and I asked if there were a lot of people...they basically said hell yeah...but they weren't so old...I don't know but it didn't look terribly like Columbus...it looked slightly rundown with a Deus Ex atmosphere.

  • You know Cliff had an extreme faith in Jesus Christ. Hetfield could feel it with this one.

  • You can still hear the bass in the original...especially with the tribute section.

  • DAMN the dyers eve intro scared me at the end!! XD

  • the 2 dislikes are from bieber fans!!!

  • The beginning up to 4:01 sounds like a snake constricting its prey...the prey squirming. Then it dies.

  • if u want a badass song try watch?v=w_BmtQ3KcgY&feature=email&email=comment_reply_received

  • one minute im listening to fucking MOP and RTL feeling all badass, now AJFA to live is to die and im just balling now

  • this is probaly one of the best songs from the album :) Metallica should play it more live :)

  • Today, this is my favorite 'tallica song.

  • 5:23 There you are Cliff.

  • its funny how a song dedicated for a basses had the bass so low in the mix 10x for posting

  • @Vomtu100 Yeah, it's a shame.

  • Cool. Still can't hear the bass as good as I would like but not bad.

  • I would like to hear a "Animals as leaders" version of this song. Very touching song, revitalised by the enhanced bass. The way it should have been back in the day. Thx for posting

  • omg i LOVE the solo at 3:14!!

  • The best Metallica's instrumental song.

  • @MrXeleu I'd go with Orion...

  • This intro... better than Mozart.

  • i love this song

  • i think it's kind of insulting that they mixed out the bass in a song dedicated to their deceased bassist

  • R.I.P DANIEL KENNETH COLEMAN

THE KINGDOM OF SALVATION HAS TAKEN YOU HOME.

    See you there someday

  • wwaaaaao!!! se escucha mucho mejor asi!!

  • 2 people are deaf!

  • @LeoNs1987 Thats for sure :)

  • I wonder what Cliff would have thought about this song if he were still alive?

  • @oOoOoDarknessoOoOo

    "It's uh... cool *laughs*. "

  • and its a shame because it's a masterpiece

  • the thing is that not only the bass was burried but the guitar sound sterile . i don't know why no one in the studio said anything why mixing

  • who mixed the original album should be shot

  • @Vomtu100, the mixers were under strict orders from James and Lars. These are the same mixers who received similar pressure on the first album of Guns N' Roses.

  • James and Lars were dicks to Jason. There is ZERO bass on this album unless you have a decent sub-woofer, amp, equalizer set-up. Cliff tragically died....that is now reason to treat Jason like a 5-year old. James and Lars write 95% of the songs (all instruments) that is why they haven't had a good album in 16 years.

  • @Vazcular spot on. Justice is still a great album but it does show what utter cocksuckers James and Lars are.

  • @Vazcular most of the songs in "..And Justice For All" was written by james and lars after a bass line that Jason wrote.

  • the song is awesome but this part is more awesome 4:29

  • 2 fucking idiots

  • does anyone else wonder what metallica would have done if cliff wasn't killed? you have to think about what they would or wouldn't have done differently, you know? haha just a thought. RIP Cliff

  • @teenmetalfreak3 I've thought about it numerous times. There's no way we can predict it, but we know that it wouldn't be the same as it is today.

  • @thelegendoflink52 yes, and it's weird that they probably wouldn't have made this song. And I love this song

  • @teenmetalfreak3 I would imagine that eventually he would do some solo work

  • @teenmetalfreak3 they wouldnt have written a single song of black album load and reload. about st anger and death magnetic im not sure...

  • @ald65 Could you upload a high quality version to youtube or some other website? That would be great if you could.

  • Much better with the bass, still better live though.

  • 4:56 just amazing, alot of emotion shown here

  • 4:30 - 6:50 - incredibly beautiful, never has there been a metal riff that has so much emotion, so much story, so much heartache behind it. to compose such a sublime pece of music only a genius could have done. it is now clear that great minds such as those dont belong on earth..

    RIP mr cliff burton..

  • @klyon3 amen..

  • @klyon3 you have officially posted the greatest comment of all time! I agree

  • @klyon3 *Grits teeth* WHAT KIND OF SICK BASTARD ARE YOU?

  • @DakotaRogers excuse me?

  • @klyon3 You son of a motherfuck, don't you even dare...

  • @DakotaRogers i have no idea what the fuck your talking about dick? how about you say whats on your mind instead of dragging this out

  • @klyon3 Alrighty then, DIDILY DOODLY DIDILY. You are a sick cunt that deserves to be drowned in raw sewage.

  • @DakotaRogers :| ... alright haha, and why do you think that?

  • @klyon3 Why do I think that? You FUCKED me over in 'nam. ( that was cheap as shit, buddy. )

  • @DakotaRogers bahaha, your fucked in the head buddy, whatev, peace mate

  • @klyon3 man... u made me cry reading this and listening such a perfect art!

    CLB R.I.P

  • @klyon3 Damn right friend, that piece is absolutely the best!

It actually got me into playing guitar. I was like..Fuck, i just have to play this!

  • @klyon3 That's beautiful man, and so is this song. May Clifford rest in peace.

  • its still too low...

  • When a man lies

He murders some part of the world

These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives

All of this I cannot bear to witness any longer

Cannot the kingdom of salvation take me home?

  • @thelegendoflink52 fuck, this is cliff

    long life cliff :´( lml

  • @enikkox97 Cliff died way too young. No one should die at 24. No one. R.I.P Cliff Burton.

  • THANK YOU!!

  • oh my god.. this is amazing... (cry, cry)

  • for some reason 4:27 makes me so emotional

It never works for any1 else though

  • for a fact! starting at 4:56, cliff wrote that part of the song!

  • @jesse17ful

No he didn't. That was all James.

  • @Scarecrow545 listen to the bass on the song "Orion"

now that was written by Cliff and the bass here was written by cliff as well

  • @jesse17ful

Yes, Orion was co-written by Cliff, I never said otherwise.

The BASS here was written by Jason, just like all the recordings with him.

Now, Cliff has a credit on the actual song for contributing the main riff at 1:06. Nothing more. Everything else was James.

  • @Scarecrow545 i dont know who wrote the bass to this song but it does kick ass

  • Thanks man Jason is great !!!!!!!!!!1

  • hell if Cliff was alive, first off he was Metallica he showed james and lars and dave the arts of music and made pretty much all their damn albums plus i agree with WhateverBr they did sell themselves. if he was still alive we'd all be hittin the smoke in front of popo's that shit would be as legal as car insurance. R.I.P. Cliff, Dear god, you lucky sun of a gun :)

  • Cliff wrote the first half and james wrote a little bit less than the last half of it, look in then AJFA booklet for fucks sake

  • @Tombstone34 cliff wrote all the soft parts with the bass which is like the best I have ever heard in years

  • If Cliff was alive, i woundn't care because metallica is metallica, no matter the time. STOP CRYING YOU LITTLE GIRLS,METALLICA IS THE MOST VERSATILE BAND EVER, I MEAN, THEY PLAY EVERYTHING, NOT ONLY FAST HEAVY METAL (I DON'T KNOW HOW IT'S CALLED) LIVE. THE. FUTURE!!!

  • If Cliff was alive, i'm sure that Metallica wouldn't sell themselves.

  • @WateverBr If Cliff was alive, i'm sure that Metallica would have sounded just as great.

  • This song makes me remember of my ex girlfriend who died in a car accident

and when they call me to tell me she was dead I was listening to this song

    :(

  • @Thirooli sorry to hear.

  • @casinokid80 Thanks dude : )

  • @Thirooli

    Sucks man, condolences =(

  • @Scarecrow545 thanks man

  • RIP Cliff

  • 2 people dont want to live then to die

  • This song is nothing less than a masterpiece.

  • I would still like to know where the added/boosted bass comes from. Is there a master track available?

  • Where does the added bass come from? Did you play it in?

  • @maksphoto78 actualy dude the whole original album had good bass to begin with. i guess the story goes that metalica felt it was too soon after cliff and they figured the new guy would get picked on cuz he wasnt cliff. so they took out the extra bass. im probly leaving some things out but thats the general story

  • Metallica is so badass their music makes perfect sense even without bass

  • This song is the most beautiful masterpiece I've ever heard.

  • anyone have a bass-only track for this? it's still pretty buried in the mix...

  • When a man lies he murders

    Some part of the world

    These are the pale deaths

< Which men miscall their lives

    All this I cannot bear

    To witness any longer

    Cannot the kingdom of salvation

    Take me home 3

  • Metallica - originally "Metallic", but due to James' obsession with adding "ARGHH" on the end of most words the band soon became "Metallica",

Its from uncycopedia. lol u gotta love it

  • @BallonkaSwe HA! that's pretty funny.

  • OMFG! They actually included bass in the final mix?

  • it starts getting wack at 9:51

  • This song is so sad.. It reminds me about Cliff, like For Whom The Bell Tolls and Orion do, but this song in a very special way.

R.I.P Cliff, still known as the best metal bassist ever!

  • this if my favorite song

  • if you guys want the original bass track for this, just download it for rock band and get it there.

  • Adds so much more emotion, and more of a modern sound, that we never knew was there.

  • 0:00 to 9:50 BEST PART OF THIS MASTERPIECE !!

  • best instrumental ever! RIP Clifford Lee Burton God Of Bass

  • Are these bass-lines performed over by the poster or are they the original ones, Jason-played, leaked from AJFA tapes?

  • Jason Newsted was an awesome replacement for Cliff Burton!

  • @Awayze there cant be a replacement for Cliff

  • @Awayze And the only replacement for Cliff. Can only hope Rob falls out with James and Co and Jason gets a call back. Would be awesome but not as awesome as this song.

  • Is it just me, or is it kind of insulting to mute the bass...on a song that's dedicated to their late bassist? :/

  • @MrFood11 i agree, well in my opinion its an insult to mute bass in any metal song caus then the band sound thin and plasticy if that makes sense.

without bass the music has no balls

  • @UnearthAlex

Totally agree. Cliff had said in an interview around Ride the Lightning that he almost always thought the bass could be louder, or something like that. I doubt as a bassist he would have liked the bass getting mixed out of ...And Justice For All.

  • @MrFood11 Depends on your thought process really. What better homage to Cliff than a song with unused riffs without really hearing the bass, signifying forever that he is gone. To me it kind of brings the thought to mind that they didn't necessarily WANT someone else playing Cliff's riffs. But of course they toned down the bass on that whole album... likely for that same reason.

  • @JesterNR1 I've wondered that myself. I guess we'll never know. (By the way, the bass riffs on this aren't Cliff's. He only wrote the lyrics. Just in case you didn't know that.)

  • @JesterNR1 nah, simply put, jason newsted had a big old argument with the producer, and out of spite, he subsequently turned the bass down, and it was never fixed.

  • @thecleaner084 Oh, yeah, that's right. I forgot about that. Silly me...

  • @thecleaner084 No, the bass made the songs sound to muffled I think. It's got nothing to do with the producer.

  • @Fedeleven if that was true, then why include bass at all? and it sounded fine when they played AJFA songs live :|

  • @thecleaner084 It made the songs sound weird because of the production and because of the guitar tone, not because of the songs themselves.

  • @MrFood11 I've always thought exactly the same! it just seems.. well, weird..

  • @MrFood11 no not really, its like its showing us that its just those three playing for cliff. i think it will be insulting to have another bass player play in his place to a song dedicated to him

  • @MetaITV thats right. anyway cliff wrote the bass lines for this song. but that sounds great!

  • @MrFood11 it was their way to torment Jason

  • @MetallicaHetfieldTV No, one of the producers did it out of spite after they got in an argument.

  • @MrFood11, apparently it was done as an experiment to see how good a metal album can be without bass.

  • 5:52 - 6:30 Is one awesome part of this masterpiece, thats why it's my ringtone :)

  • @JMnDC4eva Na 6:20 to 7:20

  • When a man lies, he murders some part of the world.

These are the pale deaths which men miscall their lives.

All this I cannot bear to witness any longer

Cannot the Kingdom of Salvation take me home.

Some of the most beautiful words ever

    RIP CLIFFORD LEE BURTON!!!

  • Rock in peace, Cliff Burton!!

  • I hope that intro and outro could be longer :S

  • this is exactly why ajfa is a cliff album. Though he didnt play it...his influence to the band is right there in front of everyone

  • I agree with aids. Cliff will never be forgotten and im ashamed of this shit today is called music. Sad.

  • :( to me cliff still lives with us through this......just.....golden music, why do we loose the legends :'( and shit like lady fuckin gaga and justin breaver mounds of crap just keep growing...... WHERE IS THE JUSTICE FOR MUSIC AND METAL LEGENDS :'( :'( :'(

  • this song makes me shed a thousand tears.

  • 4:57 through 6:20 gives me goosbumps

  • "Cannot The Kingdom Of Sakvation Take Me Home" Cliff Bell Tollz Thee WE Will Never Forget R.I.P. My Fallen Brother Of METAL \m/

  • RIP Cliff. You inspired me to pick up the bass and pursue my career with music. Thank you for everything man. See you on the other side someday :)

  • all the riffs is made by cliff, and play by jason

  • As much as I love the bass in the song. Still prefere it without it. Doesnt sound like the production of ..AJFA and that imo makes it even better.

  • Where did you get the bass for it?

  • this song will never be forgotten

the guitars cry out like they're suffering

  • lol@ Dyers Eve at the end

  • best Metallica's instrumental song :)

  • GOOSEBUMPS

  • can't we just agree this is a great song instead of who wrote the riffs

  • Cliff wrote the bass line. Jason played it.

The entire bass line however were just Cliff's unused bass riffs.

  • R.I.P Cliff..

  • does any1 else get goosebumps when you listen to this song?

  • Everytime..

  • That is not true, Jason is amazing as a bass player, not better than Cliff or Rob. Actually we cant compare no one becouse their stiles are way different. The three of them are just perfect the way they are

  • great job adding the bass, it sounds amazing... It still puzzles me how they could produce this song without any bass

  • they had bass on this soung :)

but they put it on -2db , because they didn't trust Jason

  • No dude it's not because they didn't trust Jason that had nothing to do with the bass volume on their albums. I actually have high bass on my Justice album, but more because I actually got a bass booster. It's not Metallica deciding the volume of each instrument.

  • There is bass in the middle part on the album. When the clean guitar kick in at 4:50, listen closely and you can hear Jason's bass in the back ground

  • @Darkit2099 thats actuakky `Cliff playing, He recorde some riffs before he died that they did not use, That in the middle is one of them

  • @krollaostmedburger

    That's Jason, not Cliff playing.

  • he just wrote the riffs

  • i dont think this is cliff playing guyz i mean any1 with a half of brain would recognize cliff's playing this is sure jason

  • @cliffburton993 yea but some of riff compocite cliff before he died

  • Cliff isn't playing, but the riffs were all taken from his recordings he left behind when he died, and played by Jason.

  • You dont have too Even hear it, You Feel It.

  • Początek i końcówka są the best! Środek też...

  • Stary...wszystko jest WYPIERDOLCZE!!
