i love mercedes benz-cars ( and own 2), and i like volvos (i have 1). these 2 producers are probably making the safest cars in the world.... is flamewar is real b0llsh1t... its like arguing whether schoco or vanilla i s the better ice cream
It is simply fact that Volvo has a long-standing and proven track record with respect to safety and safety feature innovation. If you have a problem with Volvo that's fine, but try to critique something legitimate, such as reliability. Otherwise you just sound like biased ass and we have enough of them in this world.
Also remembering that Volvo has been safety minded eversince the start of production in 1927. Volvo has invented some 75 safety features to be exact some of these are: 3 point Seatbelt (1959), Safety Cage (1944), and more recently SIPS - Side impact protection system (1992), SIPS bag - Side impact airbag (1994), Whips - Whiplash protection system (1998), ROPS - Roll over protection system (In C70 Convertible), VIC - Volvo Inflatable curtain (1998), BLIS - Blind Spot indication system (2006)
So for Volvo to receive a 4 star crash test rating that has been performed in their own factory facility it is obvious that the Volvo must meet more criteria to receive such a rating. Whereas Euroncap and the IIHS ect.. Only perform: Frontal, Side, Pole and rollover crash tests. Volvo is able to crash their vehicles on all angles as their crash test facility can rise on a cushion of air in a 180 degree radius allowing such crash tests to be performed.
MercedesBenzman, Your accusation towards the safety of Volvo cars is surely inaccurate. I myself have researched and found that Lexus has received 4 star safety ratings from such companies as Euroncap. Volvo has also recieved similar ratings of 4 stars from their own crash testing facility in Gothenburg Sweden. Please also take into consideration that Volvo has more in-depth crash tests performed than any other crash testing company in the world.
