  • I wonder how this race would have shaped up with Ghostzapper in there. To bad his career ended after the Met mile.

  • That was a sick move. "Inhaling horses". Awesome performance and with such ease. Perhaps not the greatest field but that swift move was almost Secretariat like. Poor Lava Man. That horse accomplished a lot in his career seeing as it looked like he was destined to be owned by the glue factory early on.

  • I'm a big fan of this race, this call, and this post. Cheers to you, sir!

  • I hear ya, I'm a big fan of this video, too. It's hard to believe it all started for me way back in October of 2006 with Borrego "catapulting past the field"...the superb call and sheer brilliance of Borrego's power help remind me why I started doing this in the first place.

For sharing your tremendous project celebrating Secretariat, the finest thoroughbred I've ever seen, cheers to you, kind sir!

  • you are the man.

i dont know how many times i will say "what a call" after hearing mr durkins calls, he got me hooked to racing.

  • Borrego, Yes Representing California in New York. Great Call By Tom.

  • Major props to Borrego, though I've also always liked Flower Alley. Great horses in the field all together.

  • I tip my hat to you again, Tom Durkin has the passion and I adore hearing his calls. Thanks

  • Thank you for your kind support. This was the first video I posted on youtube, and what a video it is!

One of my all time favourite calls.

    Have a great day.

  • one of my favorite stretch calls. durkin's passion for the sport is infectious

  • That was an awesome move by borrego. he never ran back to quite that form but it just makes me wonder just how good smarty jones really was.

  • great horse and where do u live cause iu think u should move to upstate ney kentucky florida or cali for delmar or santa anita. i live in longisland ny and thiers like fights every where but its like cultural diffusion thiers so many races its not funny.

  • Ever since I watched this race live I've loved Tom Durkin screaming out ".. and he's in HAND, IN HAND for the final furlong". An effort never to be repeated (his Pacific Classic victory wasn't as "wow")but it was Borrego's day in October 2005.

  • Yes indeed, it's one of Durkin's best calls, that I've heard anyway. Man, I WISH we had racing where I live. Ah well, maybe someday I'll get to see a Grade I stakes race in the U.S. Take care.

  • "Borrego . . . CATAPULTING PAST THE FIELD!"

  • I am dropping back by to watch Borrego!

Thanks and have a nice day!

  • Astonishing ending! Very exciting. You were right not to tell how the race ended . . . it must be seen to be believed!

  • Yes, I agree totally, gf. What a BLITZ by Borrego! Wicked. Take care.

  • Omg! Borrego was a force to be reckoned with that day of that there is absolutely no doubt!

I love listening to the guy who called this race!

    Jazz
