That was a sick move. "Inhaling horses". Awesome performance and with such ease. Perhaps not the greatest field but that swift move was almost Secretariat like. Poor Lava Man. That horse accomplished a lot in his career seeing as it looked like he was destined to be owned by the glue factory early on.
I hear ya, I'm a big fan of this video, too. It's hard to believe it all started for me way back in October of 2006 with Borrego "catapulting past the field"...the superb call and sheer brilliance of Borrego's power help remind me why I started doing this in the first place.
For sharing your tremendous project celebrating Secretariat, the finest thoroughbred I've ever seen, cheers to you, kind sir!
great horse and where do u live cause iu think u should move to upstate ney kentucky florida or cali for delmar or santa anita. i live in longisland ny and thiers like fights every where but its like cultural diffusion thiers so many races its not funny.
Ever since I watched this race live I've loved Tom Durkin screaming out ".. and he's in HAND, IN HAND for the final furlong". An effort never to be repeated (his Pacific Classic victory wasn't as "wow")but it was Borrego's day in October 2005.
Yes indeed, it's one of Durkin's best calls, that I've heard anyway. Man, I WISH we had racing where I live. Ah well, maybe someday I'll get to see a Grade I stakes race in the U.S. Take care.
What a horse that Borrego!I would have LOVED to have been able to watch this race in person!I love watching Borrego and Tom Durkin's passion and enthusiasm makes this footage a very fun video to watch! Thanks again cf1970!
I wonder how this race would have shaped up with Ghostzapper in there. To bad his career ended after the Met mile.

Major props to Borrego, though I've also always liked Flower Alley. Great horses in the field all together.
