Amen! Thank you for making this so simple and clear! May God continue to lead in your ministry. And may He protect you from those evil people who want to destroy your reputation by making evil vids by twisting your words, and deeds. God knows who they are and will deal with them I know, but He will also keep blessings you, His child.
NO LAW WAS NAILED ON CROSS, BUT WE WILL NOT DIE ETERNALLY ANYMORE AS LONG WE FOLLOW THE LAWS, BEFORE JESUS DIE ON CROSS WE'RE CONDENDED, BUT NOW THE SALVATION DEPEND ON US, WE GET GRACE THROUGH LAWS
"Now if the ministry that brought death, which was ENGRAVED in letters on STONE, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, fading though it was," 2 Corinthians 3:1-17
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Lev 23:1 "Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning]the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim [to be] holy convocations, [even] these [are my feasts. And ye shall keep it a feast unto the LORD seven days in the year. it shall be a statute FOREVER EVER in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month." Lev. 23:1-44...Mark 14;12-13 "..first day of unleavened bread, mayest eat the passover? Future... Zech. 14;16-17
false prophet, the ordinances that were contrary to us were the sacrificial laws. he mentioned how the Sabbath didn't have any ordinances attached but it clearly does in numbers 28 and Leviticus 4, the Messiah told us to keep the Passover in remembrance of him in luke 22
@ndc18 He used colossians 2:16-17 but used it WAY outta context to mean the exact opposite. 14Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. 16Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
“Christ, to enforce the will of His Father, became the author of the statutes and precepts given through Moses to the people of God. Christians who extol Christ, but array themselves against the law governing the Jewish church, array Christ against Christ.” Ellen G. White, Review and Herald, May 6, 1875.
Malachi 4:4 ¶Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.
5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
You all need to get more deeper in your studies. Those three scriptures should settle this debate once and for all. Why did John say "the word which ye have heard from the beginning. 8Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you"? The "word which ye have heard from the beginning" was the original light. FACT. Jesus was the new light and fulfilled/completed the old, FACT. As Christians now the light has come into us! FACT (which replaced the OLD). Rev 3:20!
Paul didn't use anything else here, so why are all of you trying to do different. Don't use anything except what the apostles used! Save your breath, Solomon declared that the old law was simply a LIGHT, the Psalms declares that the law was just a light, John and Paul proved the arrival of the new light, which replaced the old light (Law of Moses).HOW ELSE COULD JESUS SAY THAT HE FULFILLED THE OLD LAW? The only way is through replacing the Old Law as the new light. Forerunner contradicts himself
The Forerunner nor anyone else can touch that, since Paul himself justified Jesus through the prophets and the Old Law of Moses ALONE!
Acts 28:23 "And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening." Jesus replaced the Old Law ( Light) as the guide of all men, because that is what the light is for!
Proverbs 6:23 "For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is LIGHT; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:"
1 John 2:7-8 "Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. 8Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true LIGHT now shineth."
Ok. This is the easiest thing to dispute. Paul taught against this in the book of Acts. What law was nailed to the cross? Jesus, representing the new law, through becoming the new "light". The Old Law of Moses was the old "light", mentioned all throughout Proverbs and Psalms. The new light was Jesus, and we was in fact was nailed to the cross, while representing, embodying, and FULFILLING/ completing the Old Law. PERIOD. This was the same thing Paul taught, and was persecuted because of it.
Forerunner wrong on this. Law of animal sacrifice was the law nailed not commandments or Feast of God. . "behold, the VEIL of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom;.." Matthew 27:51, Why did the VEIL rent ?( a break made by force; a tear.) For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Heb. 10:1- Hbr 10:5 ¶ Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
Also, the Sabbath, was made for man ( Mark 2:27). The Sabbath is not Jewish, but was given to Adam and Eve ( Gen 2:2), and put in the heart of his Commandments, for all man. The Sabbath is a special day, pointing to him as creator. The Sabbath is much deeper then most think, and not a counterfeit like the day of the Sun. I pray all my see the light, God bless! Put the Word above tradition!!!
@ajjbethea LIAR! The Sabbath was not GIVEN TO ADAM AND EVE! GOD DID NOT TELL ADAM AND EVE TO MAKE SATURDAY HOLY!!! YOU LIAR! COME BACK WHEN YOU BACK THIS GARBAGE UP WITH SCRIPTURE AND STOP REPEATING THE LIES OF FORERUNNER!
If we love him we will keep his commandments (John 14:15). We are justified by faith in his grace ( Rom 5:1). But those who have faith will keep his commands, not to earn heaven but because they love him. Faith without action is dead ( James 2:26). Some in Paul's time, tried to earn their way to heaven. Those, were "under the law". God's will write his law in our hearts ( Heb 8: 10), that's the New Covenant, to all that love him! Do you love him? Those will be in heaven!!
The Letter Kills It Is the spirit that gives life. the words are dead and it is the spirit that gives life (give meaning) truth is experienced within us faith comes from hearing of the word. the word is not the dead letters in the bible. but the revelation knowledge deeper meaning of the word the law is the revelation knowledge revealed within that is the living word of God beacause the word of God is alive and active. the word is christ and christ is the power & wisdom of God. God Is CHI within
Also forerunner you are one of the Judaizing christianity by followign Sabbath since Sabbath is more powerful than the blood fo Christ shed on the cross - stop going on and on about the writings of the heretic false teacher that would have been stoned to death in biblical times called Helen G WHite - you sell her heretic books - your church also says Jesus is the Archangle Michael !!!
@incognita1989, For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek : for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon 1 him . Romans 10:12..."Six days may work be done; but in the seventh [is] the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: WHOSOEVER doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death." Exodus 31:15.
So im going to hell because i go to church on Sunday and serve in the church that day too? Didnt Jesus heal and cast out demons on Sabbath? Did all the apostles keep saturday as the sabbth? i dont want to be disobeying God but then again i am not perfect like Jesus though i strive to be like him. I repent daily and try my best with God's spirit inside of me.
@julie2branden no people are going to hell because they harden their hearts against the truth, The bible said pay 10% tithes not 7 correct. The bible also states to REMEMBER the sabbath day to keep it holy, This was set up at creation, I believe God created the heaven and earth and since I know that I honor Gods Sabbath because he is God... The bible says come let US make man in our image... Jesus is Lord of the sabbath the pharisees tried to make the sabbath a job no! The sabbath was made for u
@julie2branden, "How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days." Matthew 12:12. It is okay to do well on the Sabbath, but no work, buying, partying etc. Yes, the apostales & Jesus kept the Sabbath Day. "his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read." Luke 4:16... when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath. Acts 13:42
There 3 types of believers: believers, make believers n unbelievers.believers re those who believes everythin about God n His words, make believers re those who believe bcoz others say so.., they find fault with every jot of God's ,they always jusify their beliefs n it unchangable while unbeleiver re those who no matter what u say or do they just dont believe inanything about God
what was nailed to the stake was the death penalty, the laws statutes and judgments were written for us.The wages of sin is death.1john3:4"whoever commits sin, transgresses also the Law;for sin is the transgression of the Law.read Psalm119:1-5,read Yahl(joel)must call with the Name Yahweh, and not pagan titles,we are told not to let cross our lips.deut6:1,25 says this is our Righteousness and you seem to gloss over the words "FOREVER"
Moses was the first who gave the law to a nation, the laws was always with mankind from the beginning. And The MessiYAH [not christ, this is a greek title] wasn't nailed 2 a cross,it was a stake [pole],read the original 1611 edition KJV Bible or the original scrolls. And there are more than 10 commmandments found in the bible, over 600 . And god and lord r pagan titles, lord means Baal.
Sorry I'm not a tech geek Paul is talkn to scatters Israelites and Gentiles who want to follow G-d so da people around will judge dem cuz they r pagans da writings r our sins dats ways contrary to us and Christ naild dat 2 da cross.one day we will b at Jesus feet and he will teach us all his ways-Torah bcuz it his Fathers will.
hem dnt let judge u bcuz most also da writings against us r are sins which da the day we (Christians, believers) will b judged by besides Christ lawgiver gen 49:10 ISA 33:ps 60:7 and jam 4:12 look at ISA 2:2-5 da law will go forth and allnations will follow dis is wen r King comes which hasn't happened -YET! Study with a Hebrew mindset not Grecian and pray 2 G-d in Jesus name and da Holy Spirit will lead u n all truths! Shalom!
It's hard to understand any of Pauls letters and it's even harder to learn new testament without the Hebraic roots understanding Paul is talkn to Gentiles and scattered Israelites in that region of colossia during 1st centiry
The same way he judges the illuminati, this guy acts like that thinking he knows so much, I dont like that, that is not in my opinion the sign of the HOly Spirit. Jesus fulfilled the 10 commandments, and there he justified us and santified us thru his perfection. something to think about this guy is the way he moves just like deciever, just like Hellen White, trying to make what Jesus did not worthy, if you agree send him a comment and let him know we know he is a deciever.
Good argument but let me ask you a question what were the charges against Jesus to crucify Him? Please proof me you are right with the bible. Also I am not saying He is not important, He is our King but My Lord and Only God Our Father is superior to Him and is our God and His God.
SDA followers talk about the change of the rested day to sunday on Nicea but for some reason they keep silence regarding the dogma of Trinity(Catholic dogma) a topic that was held also there. In fact in the 3 first centuries of Christianity Jesus was The Son of God or "Christ, On Nicea Constantine and the other leaders made Jesus "God". Almost a century later The holy Ghost became god. If all the apostles were alive now they would be considered heretic.
@ronyen777 Matthew 12:31-32) - "Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. 32 And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in the age to come."
@XxodiaX Jesus was accused of blasfemy dont you know? what do you understand for blasfemy against the Spirit? What I wrote is historically accepted. What is and what is not Blasphemy against the holy spirit is theology and maybe you can help me telling me your concepts. Would be nice to learn something new. Hope to hear from you.
@ronyen777 Hear O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one." ( Mark 12:29)"I and the Father are one." ( John 10:30) •I tell you the truth. Before Abraham was born I AM. ''John 8:58'' "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me
My response should alert you -if the holy spirit is from God it is God-catholic teaches God the father -jesus the son,and mary the mom-that we dont -that we dont-
John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
can you see HE?"
and if He wasnt so important-why is a sin against christ forgiveable and not him?I know hat your getting @,but i wil pretend i didnt see it-just use the bible and prove me wrong
They also don't mention the fact that the catholics believe that without them the world wouldn't have the bible. They claim that the bible is their creation, and thus only they are able to interpret it.
If they are going to deny something because someone who was a catholic said it, or taught it, or the catholic church teaches it, then they'd have to deny the bible as well.
I believe that we are being under law and grace since the beggining, Mercy and grace is not only on the New Testament but also on the Old One. How a society or a group of people could be organize without a Law. Even in a sistem of perfection there's law. We are still under God's law and Grace just as in the beggining and His Laws are perfect and Saint. Fullfilment of the Law is a thing that The Son of God made for us and is our umbrella in the presence of The Father but we shoud keep it .
Amen; the Commandments came from God directly spoke them to the nation of Israel, then given unto Moses written by the finger of God.... The Law of Moses was given by Angles unto Moses... Act 7:53; Gal 3:19
Hi, I've just found you on youtube, I would like to subscribe but I've found it important to ask, what are your views on The Trinity and christians serving in the military and christians defending themselves? I have discovered that some christian teachers on youtube are worst than the cults that they rail against. Thanks
I will sum up by giving clear reasons y there isnt separation of the 10 and the rest of the Law, and that they were both TOGETHER referred to as THE LAW OF GOD.
1. The MOST IMPORTANT cmdmnt is in the book on the side (logic of importance based on being in stone or in box is wrong) [Mark 12:28-31]
2. The book on the side contained universal moral laws (homosexuality, beastiality, incest) which ARE NOT against us.
3. NT refers to Laws both in and out of the 10 as part of THE LAW.
Is the weekly Sabbath..... one of the SABBATH DAYS in THE LAW (entire Law, not one part as God'sand another part as something separate as is being incorrectly shown here)
Yes it is. What passage in the OT tells us this? Ex 31: 13-15.
The Sabbath (weekly) is obviously one of the SABBATH DAYS.
Given that its clear (as shown below) that there is no separation, and that there is ONE LAW (both 10 and rest). Let us now come to the passage at hand in Coll 2. Paul is stating that specific aspects of THE LAW (entire) were nailed to the cross. Neither the 10 cmdmnts itself NOR the book on the side itself, was nailed to the cross. Specific aspects of the LAW (entire) were nailed to the cross. Theres are laws concerning.
The following passage make clear the interchangeable use of Law of Moses & Law of God (same thing)
Luke 2:22-24. We must understand that Moses' name is only attached to the Law as the Lawgiver, God is the author of all the commandments.
There is one LAW. This LAW containsl 613 commandments (inclusive of the 10). The following passages show commandments both in the 10 and NOT in the 10 being referred to as in THE LAW
Though I respect this man for the work he does, his theology isnt 100% correct.
Based on this foundation comes alot pf probs:
Separation of the 10 cmdnmnts and the rest of the Law, and the very much incorrect logic of importance based on placement.
Firstly, there is no separation as a Law of Moses (book on side) and a Law of God (10 cdmnts). There is ONE LAW which INCLUDES both the 10 and the other 603 and the terms Law of Moses & Law of God are used interchangeable in scripture (continued)
Circumcision and Sacrifices direct were given from God and were instituted as shadows, because of sin. The 10 which sum up the remaining laws are the guiding principles on how to honour God, because thats how we show our love to him Jn 14:15. The Sabbath was made for Man in the beginning, as a day to rest from our daily activities, as well as commune with God. It wasn't instituted because of disobedience like you claim. The whole perpetual "rest" theory is flawed. Why have 7 day weeks?
Exd 16:28 - And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?
Exd 16:29 - See, FOR THAT the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day
Also,
1Ti 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners
...., for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
Why was it given to the disobedient?
Rom 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
What about the stories given in the law? Do you not believe that those are also shadows of Jesus Christ? Of greater things that Jesus would do? We know that God never shared a story with the people without a reason for it.
11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! 12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Law and Prophets is summed up in the Golden Rule, "Love".
Its merges perfectly with what Jesus says about how we love him,
We obey the law, but not the decrees of the law. Decrees are edicts that require a particular performance of a law. The controversy between us is whether or not the earthly Sabbath is in that category. With that said, I'm just bothered by the condemnation of other Christians. Christ prayed that we may be as one.
Jesus was refering to the book of Macabees when the people rested while they were being attacked, and were slaughtered, besides; Adventists love to point out that the ceremonial Sabbaths were still around-could have been one of them. The law is still around, and there are those who still place themselves under it. The liberty we now have in Christ does not subject us to it's decrees-aka: Sabbath, New Moon, Holy days.
Forerunner, your interpretation is flawed. The English word ordinance in Chronicles is the greek word "Krisis" meaning judgements. Ordinances at collosians is "Dogmasin". Two different words, but translated the same in english to help with flow of the paragraph. Theologically, you cannot make a connection. The rest of your conclusions are also flawed, but hey, you're at least entertaining to watch.
@protochris@protochris what other conclusions are flawed? whats so wrong about accepting Christ and following the law? i personally dont see a problem with "thou shalt not kill" or "thou shalt not steal", these are commandments that even countries like the US have incorporated into its laws
@free0fight Paul said the Law was Just, Holy & Good but it was a law of the flesh. It never dealt with the inner spirit of man. Remember, Jesus said "thou shalt not commit adultery, but if you look lustfully you still commit adultery, also, Honor your Father & Mother, but you have a gift you leave at the altar, but not to your parents. The law can only convict, never save.
@protochris right, i never said it can save, it can convict, and Christ can save...the law points us to Christ and our need for him...we need the obey the law, and follow Christ=) God Bless.
@protochris In Matthew 24, the disciples ask Jesus what the signs will be for the destruction of the temple and when it will be...Jesus tells them, and also says..."Pray that your flight be neither in winter or on a SABBATH..." (verse 20)...the destruction of the temple occured in 70 A.D. (as stated by Jewish historian Josephus)...almost 40 years after Jesus has ascended into heaven and the Sabbath was still intact!!! FACT! seems like the "law" (i.e. 10 Commandments) was still intact...=)
I see Forerunner777 Does not know much about the Israelite or jewish culture in those times. In order to understand this topics we need to understand also the laws and regulations the jews have. They have the Talmud which was the laws that were not given by God but by men and the Torah with all the commandments that Elohim gave it to Moses in Sinai. The 10 Ten commandments are the covenant between God and Israel as a nation. Which Law was nailed in the cross?
@ronyen777 The laws that were written by Moses and men. God's laws are eternal. They are still valid for spiritual Israel, as we are descendants of Abraham.
@glennster82 wait a minute doesn't the law of Moses the Law given by God himself? You said God's laws are eternal right then Who is the author of the Law of Moses? Is it Moses? Talmud is the Torah of men!!! The Lord has followers and they are not religious people they obey and follow his commandments.
@ronyen777 God wrote the 10 commandments. The mosaic Law, everything after was written by Moses. Without getting into a deep Bible study, Deut 5:22 says:
22 These words the LORD spoke to all your assembly, in the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and He added no more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.
Notice, "and He(God) ADDED NO MORE." The 10 commandments are God's law. They are very much valid today.
@glennster82 so you think that everything else was written by Moses? a deep study bible?verse 22 is specific on the tablet of the 10 commandments not on the statutes and ordenances given by God and not by Moses...how can you can play the word of God saying that everything else was written by Moses when the author was God? You are just repeating something that was putting by your leaders in your mind and not by a deep study of it...think about it.
@ronyen777 I'm repeating what I've studied for myself. Visit my blog and search for the "nailed to the cross" post I did. I go to lengths to explain that the law Moses wrote was different from the 10 Commandments God gave us. They are not all one set. Moses's laws are based on the 10 commandment principles, but were made to prevent specific actions, See Deut 27.
@glennster82 Deut 27:10 please read it my brother, The law of Moses that He is commanding is coming from the Lord and is not an appreciation of Moses based on the 10 commandments, no It is not. Do you speak some hebrew? Torah means teachings ad they are not teaching of Moses they are the teaching of the Almighty. The major reason a lot of followers were persecuted is because people hate these statutes and ordinances that they believe comes from Moses.
@ronyen777 Well you have to understand that the laws in Deut 27 are Civil laws. None of the laws or curses listed mentioned have anything to do with the 10 commandments. There are basically 3 types of laws during Israel's time, and can be categorized under the following, Civil/Civic, Ceremonial, and Moral. The 10 Commandments fall under the moral set, the Civic/Ceremonial laws were no longer needed after Christ's sacrifice.
@glennster82...Let me ask you a question Do you eat porK? or do you have sex with a beast? Do you have sex with your woman when she is having her monthly thing? What kind of laws they fall under..you see your categorization of law comes from a pagan school. If they were nail in the cross so why do you still keep it. Be humble and listen the Word of The Lord. Dont teach things that are not from Him. Don't believe whatever they teach you and go to the only STRONG LIGHT! THERE'S NO OTHER LIGHTS..
@ronyen777 So are you saying its okay to have sex with a beast now that the law was supposedly done away with?!?!? That's twisted dude. You totally lost me now.
Let me clear it up for you again. There are Civil, Ceremonial/Sacrificial, even Dietary laws, and of course God's Moral law (10 Commandments) Some were abrogated. God's law remains.
@glennster82 Twisted dude? So if I totally losted you then you do not know what the other Laws are besides the ten commandments. The ones I gave you are just examples of the other laws like the one you call Dietary laws, and other statutes that are part of the Law(Read Lev 18) If you said God only abrogated "some laws" but not the ten commandments then We are free to do the contrary of Lev 18 and 11 .Again I hope this time you open you ears and be humble to listen.
@ronyen777 So let me get this straight, you're saying that it is okay to have sex with animals now because we are no longer under any law? My understandind of your position is that we are no longer under any law? You're antinomian, correct me if I'm wrong.
@Myhopeisinhim The two greatest commandments SUM up the 10. Love God - # 1-4, and Love fellow man - # 6-10. They are summations, they don't supercede or replace the 10, they sum it up. That's why Jesus said, if you LOVE me, KEEP MY commandments (John 14:15). The same ones He wrote on stone.
The bible tells us that the two greatest commandments sum up the ENTIRE law, not just the ten commandments, but regardless of what they sum up, they are still two commandments of their own, they are not one of the ten commandments.
If I were to ask you where I could read the two greatest commandments word for word, where would you direct me?
He didn't write them with his finger, Moses wrote them.
So either we go by what he wrote with his finger as one law, and what Moses wrote as the other, or the separation of the law that some people try to present isn't consistent nor is it being accurately portrayed.
And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.
I never said he didn't write the ten commandments, I said he never wrote the two greatest commandments. He spoke them, but Moses wrote them. They are found in the book of the law:
Lev 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I [am] the LORD.
Deu 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might
If it's not by what God specifically wrote, and what Moses wrote, and there are exceptions, such as these ones, then one must accept that the law of Moses IS the law of God, especially as this is what the bible teaches in numerous verses in the bible. The book of the law IS the law of God.
@Myhopeisinhim Sorry you're mistaken. If you look at Matt 22 starting v34, it'll say: 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” "Law and Prophets" refers to ALL of Scripture. Jesus is quoting the Deut 6, which I suggest you read, where Moses commands the people to follow the 10 commandments he reviewed with them in Deut 5.
Therefore, the greatest commandment Points back to the 10 Commandments. :)
The Bible harmonizes perfectly when God's law is still valid.
Actually the phrase "the law and the prophets" does not mean all of scripture. To the hebrew it means the first and section section of the hebrew bible. The law is called the Torah, it includes the first 5 books of the bible. The prophets is called "Nevi'im, and it includes the following books:
Psalms, Proverbs, Job, song of solomon, ruth, lamentations, ecclesiastes, esther, Daniel, Ezra, Nehemiah, Chronicles
When he spoke of the law and the prophets, he was referring to the first two sections of the Hebrew bible. The Torah, and the Nevi'im. Have you ever heard of this before?
@Myhopeisinhim You have to remember, There's God's law, and there's the law that Moses wrote. Both are from God, one is just eternal (10 Commandments) See Psalms 119.
Regarding the law and prophets, yes, there are 3 sets, but the term law and prophets refers to the Scriptures which sum up how we should live:...
Luk 24:44 ¶ And he said unto them, These [are] the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and [in] the prophets, and [in] the psalms, concerning me.
Here you see the exact same phrase as in Matthew 5, except here it is more elaborated. You'll notice he says
The law, the prophets, and Psalms.......showing that the Psalms is different than the......
And he also elaborates on the term "the law", calling it the law of Moses. He was reminding them what he told them in Matthew 5. So here he speaks of the book of Psalms, it wasn't part of the law, or the prophets, but rather the "writings".
I hope that through this you can see that he what he was talking about in matthew 5. He was stating that nothing in the books I mentioned could be changed, not one law could be changed until he fulfilled it all.
The term the law refers to the Torah, to the law of Moses. That is how Jesus viewed, it and how the other hebrews of his time viewed it too. That is why you never see any of them ask anyone to clarify what law they meant. When Jesus was asked what the two greatest commandments in the law was. He never asked the person what law he meant so that those around him would understand. He viewed the law as a whole.
The book of the law is the law of God in its entirety.
@Myhopeisinhim You got to understand, God's law, was around before he wrote it in Exodus. It was only codified during Moses' time. Hence the separation of the Tablets, and Moses' written law in the Ark. That's why most of Moses' written laws were no longer binding, but God's law (10 Commandments) still remains.
The problem with antinomian theology is that they rely on 1 or 2 passages,
The point of my post is to show that Mat 5 wasn't just referring to the ten commandments when it speaks of "the law", it was referring to the book of the law. So when it says no jot or tittle shall pass from the law, it meant that nothing in the book of the law could change until Jesus fulfilled it, and Jesus himself said he came to fulfill it.
The bible also tells us that the covenant he gave to Moses was not the same covenant he gave to their fathers.
The bible says that the ten commandments was the covenant he gave to Moses. That was the covenant made on Mount Sinai. Even early church writings show that abraham and Noah, etc, never celebrated the sabbath...and given that the bible never shows any man before Moses keeping it, I cannot believe what is not shown in scripture.
The sabbath was given to man only in the time of Moses.
@Myhopeisinhim "The sabbath was given to man only in the time of Moses."
Umm.. no, the Sabbath was made for man at the beginning of the world. Mark 2:27. The Greek for "made"- ginomai alludes to the original creation of the Sabbath.
"I cannot believe what is not shown in scripture." Yet you rely on these supposed quotes from "early church writings"
How about Gen 26:5. Abraham kept all of God's commandments.
It also said he kept all of God's laws and statutes, does that mean he had the book of the law, too, and kept all that was in the book of the law?
The answer is no because the bible tells us the law came 430 years after abraham, so what does Gen 26:5 mean? Does it mean he had the book of the law, or the ten commandments within the book? No! It simply means that whatever God commanded of him in his life that he did, such as, taking his only son up to the mountain and offer him....
@Myhopeisinhim or Law of parsimony would agree with the fact that the God's law has been around since the beginning, and was only CODIFIED at Sinai. God didn't need to write it in a book, it was through oral tradition. Why do you think Joseph ran away from Potipher's wife?? There was no written commandment about adultery at the time, but there was God's LAW.
Gen 12:1 shows Abram being commanded by God to leave his country, and Abram obeyed. God commanded Abraham to circumcise his family and he obeyed. He had circumcision but that doesn't mean he had the book of the law does it?
The verse in gen 26:5 simply shows us that Abraham did whatever God told him, nothing to do with the ten commandments, or even the book of the law.
@Myhopeisinhim "There is absolutely no scripture that shows Abraham keeping the sabbath."
You're arguing from silence. You can't prove he didn't keep the Sabbath. But the facts are clear. Israel inherited Abraham's covenant. Israel's God is the same God as Abraham. God reminded Israel of the Sabbath, telling them to Remember, pointing to the PAST. Do the math.
Gal 3:17 And this I say, [that] the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
Neh 9:14 And madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of Moses thy servant:
Even in Exodus 16 we see the giving of the sabbath, it hasn't always been around.
We can read about how circumcision in John 7, even though it was part of the law of Moses, came from the fathers, more specifically Abraham. We see God giving Abraham circumcision so we know that it without a doubt existed as a command to man before Moses; but we don't see this of the sabbath.
We don't see it being revealed to anyone before Moses, not like we do circumcision. I'm not arguing from silence. We're even told it was given to the israelites on account of their constant disobedience.
We're told it was made known, not just given, to Moses. We're also told that the covenant which contained the sabbath command was not made with their Fathers, but with Moses and the people who were alive that day.
He mentioned sacrifices in nearly every generation. He mentioned circumcision, yet, he never mentioned the sabbath as a command to man.
That says something, don't you think? Instead of being clear about it being given before by showing man....
having kept it, like he did of sacrifices, and circumcision, we instead see no mention of it as a command to man, or any man keeping it in the book of Genesis, rather, we see the bible tell us it was given to the people after their exodus out of Egypt, and made known to Moses.
I'm afraid the bible teaches opposite to what seventh day keepers teach. No offense.
@Myhopeisinhim Sigh... you don't understand. In Exodus, it already points back to the creation Sabbath. "The seventh-day is the Sabbath of the Lord THY God." Meaning it's already been in existance. The Israelites had to get reintroduced to the Sabbath after generations of slavery.
What law was Joseph keeping when he refused to sleep with Potipher's wife?
You said: The Israelites had to get reintroduced to the Sabbath after generations of slavery.
Think about this for a moment, they were in slavery for roughly 400-430 years. They lived roughly 120 years each. 400 years was not much in those days, especially not for a people who were still continuing to cry out to the Lord for their deliverer. They hadn't forgotten the Lord, they still believed he would send a deliverer.
at A.D 70 the Israelites were scatttered throughout the world until 1948 when they became a nation again. In the 1878 years that they were scattered throughout the world do you think they forgot who they were? They all still prayed for the day that they would be able to completely comply with all the laws that God had given them again.
They have continued to keep the sabbath for 1878 years, even up till today, so no, I don't think they would have simply forgotten about it in slavery.
The foundation was laid for it since the beginning, yes, but the bible says it was given to the people due to their disobedience, just like the entire law was. It was given to the unrighteous to show them their need for God, to show them who delivers them.
God may have rested on the seventh day, but that wasn't because he was observing the sabbath, it was because his work was done, and there was nothing more for him to do, so he rested, ceased from his work.
Exd 16:28 And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?
Exd 16:29 See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
2) TO remember that they were a slave in the land of Egypt and the Lord brought them out
Deu 5:15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and [that] the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
To know that he is the Lord that sanctifies them:
Exd 31:13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it [is] a sign between me and you throughout your generations
The bible tells us that sin was in the world before the law was, and that the people from adam to Moses sinned after a different similitude than adam did. The people received a conscience, and they went against that which they knew was wrong in their heart. Nothing to do with the book of the law or the ten commandments.
Please read over the things I mentioned about the sabbath. It wasn't really about creation itself.
You assume since cain knew it was wrong to murder, and joseph knew it was wrong to sleep with the man's wife that the ten commandments must have existed; I want to pose a question to you.
We learn about circumcision and sacrifices being done in the book of Genesis, am I to believe, contrary to what the bible tells me, that the book of the law existed to the people before, too, because some things from it existed?
Does that mean everything in it existed? follow your own logic through to....
the end. If simply knowing murdering and adultery is wrong means that the ten commandments existed, then knowing that circumcision and sacrifices existed, then that must mean all of the book of the law existed too.
That is where the logic ends, does this ending fit with what the bible tells us about the law?
@Myhopeisinhim That's the thing, there was no BOOK of Law, but there was GOD's ETERNAL Law.
Psalms 119:160 All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal
This tells me that God's law has always existed.
Like I said before, the Law was only CODIFIED and written down at Sinai. Before, God used various methods to instill those very principles in man. Hence Abraham keeping all of God's Commandments, Statutes and Laws. Remember, if there is no Law there is no Sin.
Do you realize we see more proof for circumcision in the book of Genesis than the sabbath command? You want to believe that it was there because that was what you are told. You think since murder and adultery is mentioned there that the ten commandments have to exist since that is what you were told.
Yet, we have circumcision, and sacrifices, but because of those you still don't believe the book of the law was there. This is what is called selective believing. If murder and...
adultery are proof that the ten commandments was there, then circumcision and sacrifices are proof that the book of the law was there. It's the exact same reasoning, so there is no reason for you to deny this outcome.
If you won't accept the other reasoning, there is no reason to accept the first one. The one thing I've noticed is that you choose a line of reasoning and then stop before you follow it through. Please think about this carefully, you need to follow it through, don't stop.
....that [ye] may know that I [am] the LORD that doth sanctify you.
4) how the Lord is the creator
Basically it is a memorial of not what people think, but rather of the power of the Lord God and what he has done for the people. It was a time to focus not on creation, but on God and the glory of God and his power, his awesomeness.
To focus on the Lord God who saves the people with his own mighty hand, how he has power over all things. It's also a shadow of our loving Savior Jesus(Col 2)
17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.
You have to remember that God's law and the law of Moses are both from God, but one set (Mosaic) was made separate and different. God's law is eternal (Psa 119) and existed before Moses and Israel. The laws of Moses were established because of man's sinful nature, see Deut 27.
The scarifical law was nailed to the cross!! Since Christ was our scarifice Daniel 9:25-27 his blood redeemed us!! We are still under the law Matthew 5:17 Chirst didnot come to destory the law nor prophets but he came to fulfill the law!!
81, we are not under the law but in the law, meaning if we are under the law we are condemned, but in Christ we have salvation and forgiveness, as long as we are in Christ we are in the law meaning we do not break His commandments, when we break the commandments Jesus is not in us and thus we are again under the law in need of forgiveness or we will die in our sins. =) It is actually very simple to understand, very sobering. The Commandments of God are given to us for our benefit.
Seeing so many amatures want to worship the writings of apostle Paul above the most high YAH and his perfect messenger Yahushua, then read what apostle paul wrote in Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against ELOHYM: for it is not subject to the law of ELOHIYM, neither indeed can be! or Romans 2:12-13 (without law sinners perish, with law the are judged) also Solomon (wisest man ever) Prov. 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination
Forerunner777 - I just love how radical you are for the Lord! If all professing Christians worked like you, we'd make a better impression on the world and it would be harder for them to deceive so many. Nevertheless, we know that many are on the broad road of destruction.
"7th day Sabbath also a type/shadow-see Heb 4:4-9 & 7th Day Sabbath also a Feast Day Lev 23 which had sacrifices (numbers 28:9) Leviticus 23, begins, Speak unto the children of Israel, & say unto them, Concerning the feasts of Yah, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are MY feasts, 2 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation. The Feasts Days are HOLY Convocations & SABBATHS OF YAH FOREVER-weekly & annual stand together"
if the 7th day sabbath was a type and a figure, why was it always in effeect from the beginning. Doesn't "the Bible" tell us that day was blessed and sanctified and a rest day from creation. Please answer with scripture and not bits of verses to make fit what our agenda is. All about reasoning... no desrespect.
1 doesn't negate the other. Sabbath was established in the beginning AND is a type. The Feast Day Sabbaths which the weekly is 1 (Lev 23) was also established in the beginning & Yah said these days are blessed and holy (set apart) and are HIS HOLY DAYS: See Hebrew word MOED, "festival time," Strong's #4150-appointed times, set time or seasons Genesis 1:14 The sun and moon are for signs and for seasons/MOED. Nub 9:2,3,7, 13 Psalms 104:19, Neh 10:33, Leviticus 23:2-4
please explain how the seventh day sabbath which is done continually, weekly and not by moons or ordinances, is the same as feast sabbath. Sabbath said to be done in ordinances. Just to let you know we agree on the lie and paganism of christmas, but please use Bible as you source(KJV)
see Lev. 23- sabbath is continuous SUNset to SUNset & annual sabbaths/feasts are continuous by the MOON-Gen 1:14. some translations say laws instead of ordinances. Sacrifices, meaning? These "were" attached to the weekly sabbath - Num 28:9 but no longer. Ending of sacrifices doesn't end the Feasts & Sabbath Strongs Hebrew #2706- STATUE, ORDINANCE, decree, due, LAW, portion, bounds, custom, appointed, COMMANDMENTS 4687-COMMANDMENTS, PRECEPT commanded, LAW, ORDINANCES also see #4941 #2708, etc
ordinance is used differently in various translations. It's synonym is statue, laws, commandments, etc. Ordinances is not a blanket word for Feast days or sacrifices. It can be used interchangeably with law- Strongs Hebrew #2706- STATUE, ORDINANCE, decree, due, LAW, portion, bounds, custom, appointed, COMMANDMENTS 4687-COMMANDMENTS, PRECEPT commanded, LAW, ORDINANCES also #4941 #2708, G1378 From base of G1380; law civil, ceremonial or ecclesiastical - decree, ordinance. Isa 58:2, Eze 11:20
Why are you lying about this particular subject Forerunner777???
SDA's are Sabbath worshippers claiming that the seal of God is Saturday and anyone who goes to church on sunday has recieved the mark of the beast and next that the SDA's are the remanant church.
Are you in fact a 7th Day Adventist because my friend received books YOU sent that are from Ellen G white who SDA's believe has the spirit of prophecy...EXPLAIN THAT TO ME FORERUNNER I THOT U WERE A BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN?
@ismellcake06 what are you talking about the seal of god is the sabbath and the mark of the beast will be sunday worship when it is enforced by law, and yes he is a sda he makes no secret of that and he is born again.
Ismell, Seventh day Adventists does not worship the Sabbath, we worship the Most High, Jesus Christ our Savior, Lord and King. The Bible claims that the Sabbath is God's sign on us His people. Jesus came to save you from sin, not to give you a free pass to live in sin, if you are truly born again you would keep His commandments because you love Christ, so let me ask you a personal question, do you love Jesus enough to live for Him now by keeping His commandments?
@ronyen777 God. =) We worship God as well. Jesus is God, it may be difficult to see my friend if you have grown up being taught that Jesus is "just a man" but study carefully and you will find out as well. God bless you!
"The only change in the law under the New Covenant occurred with a new priesthood (Yahshua) and a different sacrificial system (His own death), Hebrews 9:9-15, which ended the need for animal sacrifices- daily, weekly (Numbers 28:9) or annual Sabbaths"
Not at 1st but sacrifices were "later" added to Feast Days just as the weekly Sabbath later had sacrifices attached-Nub 28:9- And on the Sabbath day 2 lambs of the 1st year without spot ... 10: This is the burnt offering of every Sabbath beside the continual burnt offering...but when the Messiah died the "sacrifices" ended but not the weekly nor annual Sabbaths/Feasts (Lev. 23)

Rev 3:20!
gregthesenior12 10 months ago
Paul didn't use anything else here, so why are all of you trying to do different. Don't use anything except what the apostles used! Save your breath, Solomon declared that the old law was simply a LIGHT, the Psalms declares that the law was just a light, John and Paul proved the arrival of the new light, which replaced the old light (Law of Moses).HOW ELSE COULD JESUS SAY THAT HE FULFILLED THE OLD LAW? The only way is through replacing the Old Law as the new light. Forerunner contradicts himself
gregthesenior12 10 months ago 2
@gregthesenior12 A-MEN
BROTHER77711 10 months ago
The Forerunner nor anyone else can touch that, since Paul himself justified Jesus through the prophets and the Old Law of Moses ALONE!
Acts 28:23 "And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening." Jesus replaced the Old Law ( Light) as the guide of all men, because that is what the light is for!
gregthesenior12 10 months ago
There is no need to mention anything else.
8Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true LIGHT now shineth."
gregthesenior12 10 months ago
PERIOD. This was the same thing Paul taught, and was persecuted because of it.
gregthesenior12 10 months ago

(Final Post)
I will sum up by giving clear reasons y there isnt separation of the 10 and the rest of the Law, and that they were both TOGETHER referred to as THE LAW OF GOD.
1. The MOST IMPORTANT cmdmnt is in the book on the side (logic of importance based on being in stone or in box is wrong) [Mark 12:28-31]
2. The book on the side contained universal moral laws (homosexuality, beastiality, incest) which ARE NOT against us.
3. NT refers to Laws both in and out of the 10 as part of THE LAW.

So, to the specific question....
It is a Sabbath >_>

Given that its clear (as shown below) that there is no separation, and that there is ONE LAW (both 10 and rest). Let us now come to the passage at hand in Coll 2. Paul is stating that specific aspects of THE LAW (entire) were nailed to the cross. Neither the 10 cmdmnts itself NOR the book on the side itself, was nailed to the cross. Specific aspects of the LAW (entire) were nailed to the cross. Theres are laws concerning.
-Meats, drinks
-Holy Days, New Moons, Sabbaths

The following passage make clear the interchangeable use of Law of Moses & Law of God (same thing)
Luke 2:22-24. We must understand that Moses' name is only attached to the Law as the Lawgiver, God is the author of all the commandments.
There is one LAW. This LAW containsl 613 commandments (inclusive of the 10). The following passages show commandments both in the 10 and NOT in the 10 being referred to as in THE LAW
Romans 7:7, James 2:8-11, Luke 10:25-28,

Matt 7
11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! 12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Law and Prophets is summed up in the Golden Rule, "Love".
Its merges perfectly with what Jesus says about how we love him,
We keep HIS Commandments John 14:15.

We obey the law, but not the decrees of the law. Decrees are edicts that require a particular performance of a law. The controversy between us is whether or not the earthly Sabbath is in that category. With that said, I'm just bothered by the condemnation of other Christians. Christ prayed that we may be as one.
protochris 1 year ago
Jesus was refering to the book of Macabees when the people rested while they were being attacked, and were slaughtered, besides; Adventists love to point out that the ceremonial Sabbaths were still around-could have been one of them. The law is still around, and there are those who still place themselves under it. The liberty we now have in Christ does not subject us to it's decrees-aka: Sabbath, New Moon, Holy days.
protochris 1 year ago
Forerunner, your interpretation is flawed. The English word ordinance in Chronicles is the greek word "Krisis" meaning judgements. Ordinances at collosians is "Dogmasin". Two different words, but translated the same in english to help with flow of the paragraph. Theologically, you cannot make a connection. The rest of your conclusions are also flawed, but hey, you're at least entertaining to watch.
protochris 1 year ago
@protochris @protochris what other conclusions are flawed? whats so wrong about accepting Christ and following the law? i personally dont see a problem with "thou shalt not kill" or "thou shalt not steal", these are commandments that even countries like the US have incorporated into its laws
free0fight 1 year ago
@free0fight Paul said the Law was Just, Holy & Good but it was a law of the flesh. It never dealt with the inner spirit of man. Remember, Jesus said "thou shalt not commit adultery, but if you look lustfully you still commit adultery, also, Honor your Father & Mother, but you have a gift you leave at the altar, but not to your parents. The law can only convict, never save.

(verse 20)...the destruction of the temple occured in 70 A.D.

Which Law was nailed in the cross?
ronyen777 1 year ago
@ronyen777 The laws that were written by Moses and men. God's laws are eternal. They are still valid for spiritual Israel, as we are descendants of Abraham.
glennster82 1 year ago
@glennster82 wait a minute doesn't the law of Moses the Law given by God himself? You said God's laws are eternal right then Who is the author of the Law of Moses? Is it Moses? Talmud is the Torah of men!!! The Lord has followers and they are not religious people they obey and follow his commandments.
ronyen777 1 year ago
@ronyen777 God wrote the 10 commandments. The mosaic Law, everything after was written by Moses. Without getting into a deep Bible study, Deut 5:22 says:
22 These words the LORD spoke to all your assembly, in the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and He added no more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.
Notice, "and He(God) ADDED NO MORE." The 10 commandments are God's law. They are very much valid today.
glennster82 1 year ago
@glennster82 so you think that everything else was written by Moses? a deep study bible?verse 22 is specific on the tablet of the 10 commandments not on the statutes and ordenances given by God and not by Moses...how can you can play the word of God saying that everything else was written by Moses when the author was God? You are just repeating something that was putting by your leaders in your mind and not by a deep study of it...think about it.
ronyen777 1 year ago
@ronyen777 I'm repeating what I've studied for myself. Visit my blog and search for the "nailed to the cross" post I did. I go to lengths to explain that the law Moses wrote was different from the 10 Commandments God gave us. They are not all one set. Moses's laws are based on the 10 commandment principles, but were made to prevent specific actions, See Deut 27.
glennster82 1 year ago
@glennster82 Deut 27:10 please read it my brother, The law of Moses that He is commanding is coming from the Lord and is not an appreciation of Moses based on the 10 commandments, no It is not. Do you speak some hebrew? Torah means teachings ad they are not teaching of Moses they are the teaching of the Almighty. The major reason a lot of followers were persecuted is because people hate these statutes and ordinances that they believe comes from Moses.
ronyen777 1 year ago
@ronyen777 Well you have to understand that the laws in Deut 27 are Civil laws. None of the laws or curses listed mentioned have anything to do with the 10 commandments. There are basically 3 types of laws during Israel's time, and can be categorized under the following, Civil/Civic, Ceremonial, and Moral. The 10 Commandments fall under the moral set, the Civic/Ceremonial laws were no longer needed after Christ's sacrifice.
glennster82 1 year ago
@glennster82...Let me ask you a question Do you eat porK? or do you have sex with a beast? Do you have sex with your woman when she is having her monthly thing? What kind of laws they fall under..you see your categorization of law comes from a pagan school. If they were nail in the cross so why do you still keep it. Be humble and listen the Word of The Lord. Dont teach things that are not from Him. Don't believe whatever they teach you and go to the only STRONG LIGHT! THERE'S NO OTHER LIGHTS..
ronyen777 1 year ago
@ronyen777 So are you saying its okay to have sex with a beast now that the law was supposedly done away with?!?!? That's twisted dude. You totally lost me now.
Let me clear it up for you again. There are Civil, Ceremonial/Sacrificial, even Dietary laws, and of course God's Moral law (10 Commandments) Some were abrogated. God's law remains.
glennster82 1 year ago
@glennster82 Twisted dude? So if I totally losted you then you do not know what the other Laws are besides the ten commandments. The ones I gave you are just examples of the other laws like the one you call Dietary laws, and other statutes that are part of the Law(Read Lev 18) If you said God only abrogated "some laws" but not the ten commandments then We are free to do the contrary of Lev 18 and 11 .Again I hope this time you open you ears and be humble to listen.
ronyen777 1 year ago
@ronyen777 So let me get this straight, you're saying that it is okay to have sex with animals now because we are no longer under any law? My understandind of your position is that we are no longer under any law? You're antinomian, correct me if I'm wrong.
glennster82 1 year ago
@glennster82
Does that mean the two greatest commandments weren't part of "God's law" because they were written in the mosaic law and not on the ten commandments?
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim The two greatest commandments SUM up the 10. Love God - # 1-4, and Love fellow man - # 6-10. They are summations, they don't supercede or replace the 10, they sum it up. That's why Jesus said, if you LOVE me, KEEP MY commandments (John 14:15). The same ones He wrote on stone.
glennster82 1 year ago
@glennster82
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
He didn't write them with his finger, Moses wrote them.
So either we go by what he wrote with his finger as one law, and what Moses wrote as the other, or the separation of the law that some people try to present isn't consistent nor is it being accurately portrayed.
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim "He didn't write them with his finger, Moses wrote them"
Umm.... have you read your Bible?
Exodus 31:18
And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.
Exodus 32:16
16 Now the tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God engraved on the tablets.
The originals were written by God's finger.
glennster82 1 year ago
@glennster82
Deu 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might
more....
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
If it's not by what God specifically wrote, and what Moses wrote, and there are exceptions, such as these ones, then one must accept that the law of Moses IS the law of God, especially as this is what the bible teaches in numerous verses in the bible. The book of the law IS the law of God.
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim Sorry you're mistaken. If you look at Matt 22 starting v34, it'll say: 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” "Law and Prophets" refers to ALL of Scripture. Jesus is quoting the Deut 6, which I suggest you read, where Moses commands the people to follow the 10 commandments he reviewed with them in Deut 5.
Therefore, the greatest commandment Points back to the 10 Commandments. :)
The Bible harmonizes perfectly when God's law is still valid.
glennster82 1 year ago
@glennster82
Actually the phrase "the law and the prophets" does not mean all of scripture. To the hebrew it means the first and section section of the hebrew bible. The law is called the Torah, it includes the first 5 books of the bible. The prophets is called "Nevi'im, and it includes the following books:
Joshua, judges, Samuel, Kings, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi
There is also a third section...
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
called the Writings or Ketuvim, it includes:
Psalms, Proverbs, Job, song of solomon, ruth, lamentations, ecclesiastes, esther, Daniel, Ezra, Nehemiah, Chronicles
When he spoke of the law and the prophets, he was referring to the first two sections of the Hebrew bible. The Torah, and the Nevi'im. Have you ever heard of this before?
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim You have to remember, There's God's law, and there's the law that Moses wrote. Both are from God, one is just eternal (10 Commandments) See Psalms 119.
Regarding the law and prophets, yes, there are 3 sets, but the term law and prophets refers to the Scriptures which sum up how we should live:...

Let me show you what I mean from the scriptures:
Luk 24:44 ¶ And he said unto them, These [are] the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and [in] the prophets, and [in] the psalms, concerning me.
Here you see the exact same phrase as in Matthew 5, except here it is more elaborated. You'll notice he says
The law, the prophets, and Psalms.......showing that the Psalms is different than the......
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
And he also elaborates on the term "the law", calling it the law of Moses. He was reminding them what he told them in Matthew 5. So here he speaks of the book of Psalms, it wasn't part of the law, or the prophets, but rather the "writings".
I hope that through this you can see that he what he was talking about in matthew 5. He was stating that nothing in the books I mentioned could be changed, not one law could be changed until he fulfilled it all.
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
The term the law refers to the Torah, to the law of Moses. That is how Jesus viewed, it and how the other hebrews of his time viewed it too. That is why you never see any of them ask anyone to clarify what law they meant. When Jesus was asked what the two greatest commandments in the law was. He never asked the person what law he meant so that those around him would understand. He viewed the law as a whole.
The book of the law is the law of God in its entirety.
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim You got to understand, God's law, was around before he wrote it in Exodus. It was only codified during Moses' time. Hence the separation of the Tablets, and Moses' written law in the Ark. That's why most of Moses' written laws were no longer binding, but God's law (10 Commandments) still remains.
The problem with antinomian theology is that they rely on 1 or 2 passages,
glennster82 1 year ago
@glennster82
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
The bible says that the ten commandments was the covenant he gave to Moses. That was the covenant made on Mount Sinai. Even early church writings show that abraham and Noah, etc, never celebrated the sabbath...and given that the bible never shows any man before Moses keeping it, I cannot believe what is not shown in scripture.
The sabbath was given to man only in the time of Moses.
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim "The sabbath was given to man only in the time of Moses."
Umm.. no, the Sabbath was made for man at the beginning of the world. Mark 2:27. The Greek for "made"- ginomai alludes to the original creation of the Sabbath.
"I cannot believe what is not shown in scripture." Yet you rely on these supposed quotes from "early church writings"
How about Gen 26:5. Abraham kept all of God's commandments.
Sorry bro... your arguments don't hold water.
glennster82 1 year ago
@glennster82
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim or Law of parsimony would agree with the fact that the God's law has been around since the beginning, and was only CODIFIED at Sinai. God didn't need to write it in a book, it was through oral tradition. Why do you think Joseph ran away from Potipher's wife?? There was no written commandment about adultery at the time, but there was God's LAW.
glennster82 1 year ago

@glennster82
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
We can read about how circumcision in John 7, even though it was part of the law of Moses, came from the fathers, more specifically Abraham. We see God giving Abraham circumcision so we know that it without a doubt existed as a command to man before Moses; but we don't see this of the sabbath.
We don't see it being revealed to anyone before Moses, not like we do circumcision. I'm not arguing from silence. We're even told it was given to the israelites on account of their constant disobedience.
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
We're told it was made known, not just given, to Moses. We're also told that the covenant which contained the sabbath command was not made with their Fathers, but with Moses and the people who were alive that day.
He mentioned sacrifices in nearly every generation. He mentioned circumcision, yet, he never mentioned the sabbath as a command to man.
That says something, don't you think? Instead of being clear about it being given before by showing man....
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
having kept it, like he did of sacrifices, and circumcision, we instead see no mention of it as a command to man, or any man keeping it in the book of Genesis, rather, we see the bible tell us it was given to the people after their exodus out of Egypt, and made known to Moses.
I'm afraid the bible teaches opposite to what seventh day keepers teach. No offense.
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim Sigh... you don't understand. In Exodus, it already points back to the creation Sabbath. "The seventh-day is the Sabbath of the Lord THY God." Meaning it's already been in existance. The Israelites had to get reintroduced to the Sabbath after generations of slavery.
What law was Joseph keeping when he refused to sleep with Potipher's wife?
glennster82 1 year ago
@glennster82
Something to consider with this though.....
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
at A.D 70 the Israelites were scatttered throughout the world until 1948 when they became a nation again.

Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
A couple reasons he gave the sabbath:
1) because of disobedience

@Myhopeisinhim Again I'll ask. What Law was Joseph keeping when he refused to lie with Potipher's wife?
glennster82 1 year ago
@glennster82

Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
the end. If simply knowing murdering and adultery is wrong means that the ten commandments existed, then knowing that circumcision and sacrifices existed, then that must mean all of the book of the law existed too.
That is where the logic ends, does this ending fit with what the bible tells us about the law?
Myhopeisinhim 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim That's the thing, there was no BOOK of Law, but there was GOD's ETERNAL Law.
Psalms 119:160 All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal
This tells me that God's law has always existed.
Like I said before, the Law was only CODIFIED and written down at Sinai. Before, God used various methods to instill those very principles in man. Hence Abraham keeping all of God's Commandments, Statutes and Laws. Remember, if there is no Law there is no Sin.

@glennster82

@Myhopeisinhim Matt 5
17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.
glennster82 1 year ago
@Myhopeisinhim Original part 1 i guess....

You got it! It's so simple and mainstream has made it so complicated.
ediworth 2 years ago

KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK, my brother!

Kanaiyah777 2 years ago
if the 7th day sabbath was a type and a figure, why was it always in effeect from the beginning. Doesn't "the Bible" tell us that day was blessed and sanctified and a rest day from creation. Please answer with scripture and not bits of verses to make fit what our agenda is. All about reasoning... no desrespect.
tomsamphiljon4 2 years ago
Kanaiyah777 2 years ago
please explain how the seventh day sabbath which is done continually, weekly and not by moons or ordinances, is the same as feast sabbath. Sabbath said to be done in ordinances. Just to let you know we agree on the lie and paganism of christmas, but please use Bible as you source(KJV)
tomsamphiljon4 2 years ago
Kanaiyah777 2 years ago
ordinance is used differently in various translations.

Are you in fact a 7th Day Adventist because my friend received books YOU sent that are from Ellen G white who SDA's believe has the spirit of prophecy...EXPLAIN THAT TO ME FORERUNNER I THOT U WERE A BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN?
ismellcake06 2 years ago
@ismellcake06 what are you talking about the seal of god is the sabbath and the mark of the beast will be sunday worship when it is enforced by law, and yes he is a sda he makes no secret of that and he is born again.
m1onie 2 years ago
Ismell, Seventh day Adventists does not worship the Sabbath, we worship the Most High, Jesus Christ our Savior, Lord and King. The Bible claims that the Sabbath is God's sign on us His people. Jesus came to save you from sin, not to give you a free pass to live in sin, if you are truly born again you would keep His commandments because you love Christ, so let me ask you a personal question, do you love Jesus enough to live for Him now by keeping His commandments?
Mekelsior 2 years ago
@Mekelsior Let me ask you a question : Who "Jesus" worship to?
ronyen777 1 year ago
@ronyen777 God. =) We worship God as well. Jesus is God, it may be difficult to see my friend if you have grown up being taught that Jesus is "just a man" but study carefully and you will find out as well. God bless you!

"The only change in the law under the New Covenant occurred with a new priesthood (Yahshua) and a different sacrificial system (His own death), Hebrews 9:9-15, which ended the need for animal sacrifices- daily, weekly (Numbers 28:9) or annual Sabbaths"
Kanaiyah777 2 years ago
Did not feast days have sacrifices?
tomsamphiljon4 2 years ago
Not at 1st but sacrifices were "later" added to Feast Days just as the weekly Sabbath later had sacrifices attached-Nub 28:9- And on the Sabbath day 2 lambs of the 1st year without spot ... 10: This is the burnt offering of every Sabbath beside the continual burnt offering...but when the Messiah died the "sacrifices" ended but not the weekly nor annual Sabbaths/Feasts (Lev. 23)
