I learned how to backflip 2 days ago, I got it easy no problem so that same day I tried cheat gainers and kick the moon... I crashed them both badly. Now today I tried to backflip again and I landed on my face.. Did I try to learn to fast? What's my problem?
I don't know who stands behind this video but I want to applaud him/her. Great job in explaining how things work. I am a nursing student and a professional guitarist and I find the information here VERY ACCURATE and appeal to most people who do not necessarily have anatomy and physiology background. I also want to say that the advices given here regrading learning new tricks are also apply to any other area that one wants to master.
this video is awesome. Valuable Information that I need to make use of during my next tricking sessions. Doing 2 types of sports therefore isnt good neither. Maybe I should quit Kickboxing so I can concentrate on Tricking
Wow in the gemnastics. Ninja stuff. If science would only relate computers and how they work we would understand how real time human ailments and positive things are achieved in and through humanity. Hardrive is equal to our brain and spine is equal to web and computer history to make things access quicker.
wow thanks dude. Im glad i typed muscle memory in the search b/c i'm a bboy and i've been trying to headspin for ages! I'm gona try this everyday now b/c i did opposite of what this said by training headspinning for 2-5 hours...
basically hes sayin instead of beast training one session train alittle but more regular but for me thats hard coz i aint got the time or money to train every day so what now?
Our sub conscs mind needs simple, absurd images to imprit and store the that picture information in the cortex via hippocampus and hippothelemus. just imagine a hippo taking over your camp or u hit a hippo in the leg and it becomes lame. Like these u can ingraine anything in the world. Failures of hypothesis, before succeeding after improvements and becoming actual theories, may take 1500 trials or more. But not Memory. To remember anything just form absurd, ridiculous pictures in ur mind.
There's technically no such thing as muscle memory, but rather strengthened neurological pathways to enhanced motor units. Buzz term? Sure.
All in all it's the principal of specificity. Practice doesn't make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect. You don't jog to become better at swimming. You don't cycle to become better at running. It's all the same. Great video though. Dogen takes a lot of time out of his schedule to post these - props and thanks!
not really, u do something ur body remembers it. simple....... thats why, u do the stuff u do already, get up, eat sleep, ur body remembers it. now what he is talking about is useing it to ur advantage. if u do good tricks or whatever alot of time and they are like perfect u'll learn it faster cuz ur body will REMEMBER IT.
Not muscle memory, just turning a movement into a spinal reflex (full attention no longer needed). Musicians have known this for centuries. Muscle memory: bb term, means, training a muscle with weights for the first time takes longer to reach a certain size. After a lapse in training, it much more quickly gets back to the same level, "remembering" what size it was before.
most of the information in this vid is related to "greasing the groove" or systematic facilitation. Except this vid is geared more towards tricking than strength training. Either way, both should be considered as skill training. :)
Hi nice video - could you give me a source or an article where this information is written. I am working on a paper and so I am looking for proven information - thanks in advance - keept it up
Now I know why my 540 never improves... THANK YO DOGEN !! YOU'RE A GENIUS IF I EVER MET ONE !! Not I know it's not only possible, but benificial to learn without crashing moves many times until I get it !!
if I wanted to read I'd word of type "Muscle memory in Google/yahoo" not in youtube

The very beginning where you hear a man talking behind the music, where is that from?
cfjlkfsjf 3 years ago
I thought it was only a thousand, not 1,500 times to imprint a memory (either way, it takes a lot of success to imprint)...

I learn a cheat gainer + a sideflip
emik123 3 years ago
1500 times seems excessive, but i know it's just a number to throw out there :)
but of course, the more you learn a move, the more you want to do it, so like 1000 times might not seem that far fetched
anyways, Dogen's videos are always intense!

How about wushu???

why?

Because learning to condition yourself to do a horizontal spin is not very useful in an average person's day.
