  • Go to your local auto parts store and get what they have. Thats what I used

  • nice boat bro

  • The full size boats. They alternate between the keel and the shear. The Garboard strake and the shear strake. They finish torwards the middle. With the ,"shutter" Good video!

  • you shuld use thinner ply wood for ribs if you want it to sail.it's too hevy

  • I particularly like the fine detailed pre-shipwrecked built-in features. My only suggestion for your fine handy work is to display it on an appropriate mount. Consider forgoing the traditional wood base with pillars and consider a nice rock instead. Place a placard at the base that reads, "When your draft is below the keel, you most surely have run aground".

  • Can i suggest you dont point the nail gun at you privates.

  • As an old boatbuilder (and Model boatbuilder too) I would suggest that you build yourself a steam box. I used an old pressure cooker for many years to generate the steam for full sized boats as well as my models. Cheap to build and easy to use and it makes bending the planks MUCH, much easier. Also the time you take in fairing out your building bulkheads "before" you start planking the hull will pay off in time saved planking and fairing the hull. email me if you want to build one.

  • Keep your shop cleaner that will make things easier for you.

  • tried steaming the bits of wood? or just soaking in hot water

makes them far softer and less likely to split / snap

  • ok here is my tip, first finish building it, then if you don't like it get some gas, burn it and start over.

  • Felicitaciones y gracias por compartir

  • I following your idea and have started a boat for my grandson. Im finding that as I work toward the bow the planking gets tighter. In your video I see the same problem developing but the video does not quite get there. How did you overcome the problem? Also what type of epoxy wood filler did you use? Thanks for sharing.

  • @manning643 I used bondo Check out my other videos It will show the stuff I used

  • Youve got a problem at mould D (4th from the front) there is a pronounced hollow developing.

  • I gave this boat to a guy in wrightsville beach He finished it with rc motors and lights

  • nice, I'm planning to do something similar, a fishing boat that is made locally in the Caribbean called a pirogue, bowen being the specific manufacturer, and i wana actually put some engines on mine and make it RC. what type of wood did you use for the different parts like the stringers and the shell?

  • glue dumb ass fuck

  • if you make your strips wet they will bend more easily

  • The boat looks a lot better than the English grammar used in these posts !

  • are you stupid or something. the words are not put there to make sense there there for search engines Daaaaa

  • My humble advice: 1st, there are imperfections on the bulkheads, the curvature needs to be fixed, easier then filling with putty and sanding down...2nd: You can use some polyurethane glue plus nails but remove nails later for better surface...3rd: Try thinner bulkheads and shave the edges to meet the hull curvature...Check with a ruler or batten to fair the edges...Also you can make a steam tube to soften the wood make the work easier... Hope this helps...Greetings!

  • I love your name LOL O yes it does. But anyway Thanks for the info on boat building. very good edeas thanks

  • :) Thanks for the name...Also, i forgot to mention, try DelftShip software for developing new models...Just google it...Relevantly, you may consider going for hard chine boats, which are relatively easier to built...And but using bigger number of chines you can built quiet smooth hulls...BTW, size sometimes matters :)

  • @baseballgrader I don't know if you're still answering questions but i thought i'd give it a shot. I'm building a model boat and I built a shell thats going to be used just for a mould. I used cardboard, then papermache then drywall puddy. Now what would be the best fiberglass and resin to use for this?

  • @dougieisbamf go to your local parts ;store and buy what they have fiber cloth and resins

  • Hey do you have the plans for this boat or did you jest create this in your head ?

  • Very nice, If I was to make this, I would use both glue and nails that way it will stay in tact even if you drop it. Then use some sort of bondo all around it, and sand it down, just to cover up all the nails, then just paint it with some stained wood color, and over it with clear coat.

  • to do a better job and more fun glue it in sted of nailing it..

  • awesome video!

  • wow sweet boat. what and where would you find that wood you used for the hull because that would make by model so much nicer

  • good vid!

  • cheater use glue instead of staples

  • What kind of glue did you use on the boat you built?

  • i you use a stem box and stem the wood it will bend in crazy ways and make those tough bend alot easyer

  • hey man can i get the plans to this hull

  • I never made any we built 2 of them either 1 had plans just scratch work really. I love the way it is coming out. Check out my other boat videos

  • the boat is really great!! but next time use a tripod to film it. thats al ;)

  • OK I think i will

  • I toof a 1x4 ripped it in to 3/16 in thick then ripped them down to 1/2 in so i had 3/16 by 1/2 in stuck it in a steamer i made. Worked great

  • what you should do it fiberglass it and that would make it realy good, also i jave a question what wood did u use

  • Thank you replying to me, i will definately try that

  • How exactly did you get the wood to mold so well, i am trying to build a boat, and i am having a problem with that

  • Go to lowes .buy a wall paper steamer for removing paper. Get a 4 in pvc tube cap 1 end solid cap the other side so it can get a smaller cap to attch to your steamer. drill holes in your pvc pipe stick your pieces in it to steam for about 1 or 2 hrs take it out you can bend it in a circle

  • there right that is a plug. there is a much easier way to do it. go and buy a block of foam of a decent grade. sand it up to shape then cover in gelcoat then fair that in then u hav a finsihed plus.MUCH quiker and easier. then make your mould ans your done

  • your actually making a PLUG to make a MOULD

  • thanks

  • your actually making a plug to make a mould :P

  • im thinking about 1200.00 finished

  • To tell you the truth On this one we used paneling. Then we use thin set on the next video . We put our strips in water to make them softer in order to bend them. We are making a steamer to make it even easier. the boat measures 40 in long

  • Andrew,

    cool video!

    Holly Powell

  • thanks sis
