He's good at what he does. That is, he is very good at singing the style of music his band produces. His voice matches the sound very very well, and all of his little "flaws" really add soul to the songs he actually writes.
You shouldn't be so quick to judge someone's talent based upon one particular style. Recording artists do not usually specialize in classical singing. Their voices and styles are suited to what they are good at.
