I love this! It's such a great moment and she performs it with wonderful pathos. I really wish this had made it into the final cut of the film. Nikki Blonsky has such a beautiful voice!

And yes there is a hairspray 2. Last I heard, director Adam Shankman had said it is set against the backdrop of the time of Vietnam and the British invasion (on the music scene). And yes, he said one of the characters does get drafted but that its NOT Link. My guess is it could be Seaweed...

I think it would have fit beautifully into the musical style of the film. But it would have stopped the film. The pacing of that movie is so quick and exciting. A number like this could have really hurt that. And the big ballad in this film is given to Queen Latifah- and that is a beautiful, reflective moment that is simple and doesn't hurt the film's pace. Great vocal performance for Blonsky.
