  • Hey Laura, i´m from germany and i just learned so much things from your videos! I´ve never seen things like buttercream in a bakery store but i really would like to make some for my mom´s birthday. now i´ve seen you allways use vanilla extract in in your buttercream, in your cupcakes (of muffins? where is the difference?) and i wanted to know if i have to put it in because we use just small bottels, and i think thats too little. can you help me? thank you

  • what is the proportion of the ingredients in this recipe.

  • @dienade: You'll have to go to her site (see the description underneath this video). The recipe and the measurements per ingredient is there -- you'll have to use her site's "Search" feature to get to it. Just remember the name of this particular recipe ("Buttercream Frosting").

  • Do I have to refrigerate the cupcakes once a frost them? or can they be at room temperature?

  • @lilypana Room temperature okay. Get yourself a cake holder at Target or Macys. It helps keep the cakes moist.

  • For those of you who are wondering no you can't use granulated sugar. And if it's yellowish it's probably because you added too much vanilla extract. If it tastes good then you can still use it unless you're trying to achieve a white buttercream. Most people color buttercream anyway.

  • I have ur app on both iPad and iPhone and this recipe isn't on there. Can you please make sure all of your recipes on are there. It makes it so much easier to follow your instructions :) thanks!! Oh and u rock btw hah

  • Aaaaaaaand i failed Y______Y I put waaaaaay too much sugar in my buttercream T__T DX

  • how do you store the frosting? can you put it in the fridge?

  • this recipe is estimated for how many cupcake?

i always make too much buttercream..

  • I accidentally stop at 3.34 haha damn funny

  • can we just use normal sugar ?(:

  • @HienLeHienLe No It won't thicken and get like frosting unless you use powdered sugar.

  • does it have to be whole milk? Because I normally use skimmed milk...

  • is it possible for me to substitute the milk with anything else??

  • hi is it okay if we only add 1cup of butter?

  • can someone post the measurements? her website isnt working.

  • @selenaandemifan3

1 1/3 cup of Unsalted Butter, at room temperature

    4 cups of Powdered Sugar

    1 tsp of Vanilla Extract

2 to 3 Tbsp of Milk

  • Hi Laura,

I love your cooking guides and I recently made some cream puffs after watching your video. Everyone at home loves it. I need a favor from you....can you show me how to make a chantilly cream, please?

  • What Kitchenaid Mixer is that? What size?? I want one like the one u use. :]

  • why mine is yellow colour?

  • @7mrch Go to her website to get all the measurements...

  • Can you tell me pleasee how much butter it is in grams??? pleaseeee

  • I've noticed in most of your recipes making cookies and cupcakes that you use unsalted butter, do you have to use unsalted butter?

  • @LauraVitalesKitchen I made buttercream about 2 weeks ago and it tasted like butter

  • @barbie11ification lol im pretty sue its supposed to taste like that :P

  • @becsta457639 was it nice :)

  • dont you need to add cream cheese to it

  • wich is better milk or butter?

  • how do u keep it from going bad?

    how do you store it?

    thanks for ur help

  • ok, for all you guys wanting to see the one with the camera at 2:55 in the reflection of the bowl...

  • WHAT CAMERA DO YOU USE?

  • @BieberFever2311 yes, because you can control the amount of salt you put in. but any good dessert recipe has a pinch of salt in it to balance out the flavours, so using salted is just fine (in my opinion). i always use it anyway and its inexpensive :) x

  • I've Got to try this ! it's beautiful !!!! and easy!

  • Omg "hii guys, i'm laura vitale" in the high pitch voice almost deafened me! hahah

  • @BieberFever2311 nope. use any.

  • @thelaurenator3008 hi i made dm fr my guests and they loved it bt the butter cream was a bit watery and crispy too,and yes i added icing sugar and unsalted butter

  • Can you just do it with a bowl and a whisk ecause i dnt have a standing bixer or a hand mixer???

  • if you put food coloring would the color change and everything else would be the same?

  • I am unable to view you videos and I subscribed

  • can anyone tell me asap how much is 8 ounces of choclate in grams, i looked it up but i keep getting diffrent answers thanks.

  • FINALLY i got to see the guy who is filming !!! 2:58 - 3:01

  • @TheAAA2323 her husband is the one who is filming

  • What were the measurements for the ingredients?

  • 3:49 *laughs*

    laura: EEK, i laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayk it.

  • I HAD A PROBLEM WHEN I DID MY FROSTING=[ I FOLLOWED THESE STEPS WHAT DID I DO WRONG? IT LOOKS LIKE THE SUGAR DIDNT BLEND IN GOOD HELP! IT LOOKS WEIRD=[

  • Can we coat a cake wth this and then put on the fondant?

  • Comment removed

  • How much of everything did you add??? And how much will it make?

  • can i use granulated sugar instead?

  • My butter reams ALWAYS turn out quite grainy

  • can i use suger as thick as sand?

  • can it be regular salted butter??

  • @Aimstercandy of course not. if it's salted then it's obviously not a buttercream frosting because it's going to be salty. everyone knows that.

  • this frosting turned out SO sweet :$

  • Buttercream doesn't hav butter...it's freaking vegetable shortening!!!!

  • Whole milk. But can you use 1%? Or do you need the creamy milk for it?

  • How can you turn this into a chocolate buttercream? Please reply.

  • @Arrowhead729 ...add baker's cocoa to taste.

  • LAURA HELP! My buttercream turned out very grainy feel~ T.T I'm so sad...

  • hot milk ????? or what, sorry but the translations in Spanish do not very well help me please!

  • hot milk ?????

  • Hi I was just wondering if your not a big fan of super sweet, could you add less sugar and still use it for decorating or would taking away some sugar completely ruin the texture? Thx so much! :)

P.S. I love ur vids they are so helpful!

    -Ashley

  • i want your accent x

  • Can u add more vanilla to make a vanilla buttercream?

  • sweet?

    sweet!

    i have a sweet tooth. :P

  • she loves vanilla extract, doesn't she? :P

  • thumbs up 4 the 325 group!!!! :D

  • 1 stick of butter is like 125 grams

  • @ESSIL22 wrong, 100

  • I think confectioner's sugar and granulated is the same, while icing sugar is different from them, icing sugar is much smoother in texture

  • @ESSIL22 NO! NEVER! Confectioners is powder sugar which is as well icing sugar! Granulated is the normal crystal sugar

  • @Mikyajful Sorry Miss EXPERT... but i hope next time you can comment much more kindly...nobody is perfect you know? people here are helping each other not to take a look at their mistakes. If you are a gourmet chef and want to teach me, then maybe you can use much more kind words, it's kinda' offending to say, "wrong", "never", "no" it's negative in my opinion.

  • @ESSIL22 that is in your opinion! that's my way of talking whether you like it or not I'm saying the TRUTH :D

  • Do you have a recipe for a lighter frosting? I've had some cupcakes recently that had a really light frosting (almost as light as whipped cream) and the frosting was not nearly as sweet as buttercream frosting. They were the best cupcakes I have ever eaten. Buttercream frosting is just too sweet IMO. Thanks for the recipe anyway!

  • Could you make cake pops

  • CHOCOLATE BUTTERCREAM NEXT PLEASE!!!!

  • @MsSpecialkei Just add molten chocolate to it.

  • @MsSpecialkei its on the side

  • @MsSpecialkei Homemade Chocolate Frosting - Recipe by Laura Vitale - Laura in the Kitchen Episode 145

  • @MsSpecialkei just add some cocoa powder to the frosting. u ,might need to add a little more milk, but add both gradually.(:

  • can we used whipped cream on cupcakes? :D

  • wasn't it grainy? i tried making buttercream once but it was grainy and you could feel the confectioners sugar in your mouth not nice. how do i get it non grainy?

  • @blarrajay are you positive you used confectioner sugar and not granulated? Confectioner is totally smooth powder. Sounds like you used granulated sugar....I made that mistake once before.

  • @blarrajay Are you sure you didn't use regular sugar and not powdered sugar aka confectioners sugar?

  • @blarrajay did you sift the confectioners sugar before you added them? :) sometimes that's the reason why ^_^

  • will this melt at room temperature??

  • you look like my English teacher ^^

  • I freaking love u laura!! no homo.:D

  • 7 people do not like buttercream frosting.

  • how much butter is this in gram please?! :)

  • u r awesome

  • Buttercream is very very sweet, the reason buttercream is so popular and usually found on top of cakes and cupcakes is because of the consistency. It's mainly used to decorate because it holds together well and it won’t run off the cake and the ingredient that gives that texture is quite a bit of confectioner sugar, so yes it is a very sweet frosting. This video has been highly requested and i figured i would show you how to do it.

  • @LauraVitalesKitchen how much sugar did you put and butteer

  • YAY.

  • whenever I make frosting its horribly sweet unless its a chocolate frosting and it has cocoa inside to counter the sugar. :(

  • @ShadowandPatches Sometimes i use less confectioners sugar and add in cornflour to make it less sweet :)

  • Please do a halloween episode!! :)

  • Skip to 1:06 to start cooking

  • I know it's bad but I skip to 0:14 to not listen to the intro. It gets in my head.

  • @TheCarltondry oh my god! I LOVE the intro!!it makes me happy!! XD

  • can you make strawberry mango smoothies!?:D

  • Thumbs up for the group that doesn't give a shit about THUMBS UP!

  • Laura. Could we substitute Maragine for the Butter? And whenever I try to make Buttercream frosting, it is so liquidy. I don't want to add anymore sugar because I'm afraid it'll be too sweet. Any solutions? thanks. -3

  • thumbs up for if you really want to taste that frosting....

  • thumbs up 4 the 304 group!!!! :)

  • @insamey Terrible comment.

  • @Canonpedua12 LOL

  • @Canonpedua12 Thankyou for the feedback. We really appreciate it, being 10 and all.

  • @LuzPerezTV yes there are different types of butter cream i think there are 5 different types and the culinary name are Swiss, french, italian. simple, and creme anglaise. the frosting you described i have no idea what that is though it sound like it just might thin down whipped cream. i hope that helped you

  • @LuzPerezTV I know what you are talking about it is good I bought some from publix because i was to lazy and running out of time to make it myself because i didnot take my butter out of the frige.

  • omg its so dumb how everyones like Under 300 whohoooo... grow up no one knows who u are anyways..

  • is there an alternative for milk for someone who is lactose intolerant?

  • @xibelieveinme I would assume that you could use soy, almond, or even rice milk. THey all have more or less the same properties as regular milk, and are healthier.

  • @Xtodaz22 It's suppose to be sweet! It's dessert afterall... just use less sugar if you are sensitve to sugar

  • @4countrygal4 I was just trying to give feedback, I am not sensitive to sugar at all and am not trying to write hate comments.

  • @Xtodaz22 I wasn't accusing you for writing hate comments... I understand that was your feedback and I gave you my feedback... ;)
