  • Hey Amy...Great Job... I've approached this song a few times with tab....But my head get all muddled with it... You video tutorial on Vanderbillydotcom was excellent... Playing it to my hearts content now.. Thanks

  • Cleanest version of this song I have heard yet. You nail it! Awesome!

  • @sunsh9n thanks so much, sunshine! :)

  • It's not in Vanderbillydotcom Amy?

  • Hello Amy. Since you are the youtube expert on Bron Yr Aur I was hoping you would watch my version and give me a pointer on how to improve the slide section. You really capture that "broom" sound on the slide.Just beautiful. What notes are you picking exactly as you enter the slide? Is the way I am fingering it the problem? Any advice on that part or any other section I would really appreciate, not many people can play it like you do. I am determined to get it right someday! Thanks.

  • @CobaltDaydream I have a detailed tutorial on the internet guitar site Vanderbillydotcom. My username there is minstrel7.

Thanks for enjoying my cover of Jimmy Page's wonderful acoustic song.

    Эми

  • You are very good. Keep at it my dear.

  • Amy, that's an awesome site you gave me. Thank You so much :) I saw Led Zeppelin in Indianapolis Indiana in 1977 when I was 15 years old and it was the best concert I have ever been to. The ticket was embossed "which was unusual back then" and said "An Evening With Led Zeppelin" and it was, as there were no "warm up" bands. The concert was around three hours long if I recall correctly :) Thanks Again, Adam :)

  • @Discerner1999 wow lucky you! A memory to treasure forever...:)

  • Hi, I came across your cover when I was looking for a lesson I think you have/had on this song. Can you lead me to it or am I mistaken ? Thanks, Adam

    Alexander/

    Amy

  • Благодарю. Буду пытаться.

  • WOMAN! you made me fall in love with you .... :)))))) I've been playing Led zepp's every song all my life .. Great to see a fan like yourself ... ROCK ON

    Всего доброго

    Александр.

  • @Altoneev Спасибо Александр. Я счастлив, что Вы находите мой урок полезным.

  • Beautiful, lyrical, atmospheric, relaxing, wow. Sooooo good.

  • @amccann7 ahhh-hopefully that doesn't or hasn't made for any of the idiot assholes on YouTube to post nasty comments!I may have myself had I not read the description, and lots of stupid fuckers don't bother to.anyhow, nice playing.not an easy song to play well.saw LOTS of videos of the song and some STINK!!!

  • O thought "what the he'll!!" that's not being played on nylon strings!!??!! Til I read the description that is!

  • @Thegoodkingnado yeah, I had badly sprained fingers at the time. I was recovering so just played softly on the softer strings of the classical for the video footage.

  • Amazing and moving. I didn't understand your YouTube lesson on how to play this, but your cover is phenomenal.

  • @Malatesa thanks so much! Sorry the lesson was unclear for you...try my other one at vanderbillydotcom.

    peace, Amy

    Amy

  • Nicely done! I've been trying to play your version but have not found the exact tab for it. Please let me know if there is one available for your version. THANKS!

  • @CaptainToast314 sorry, no tabs. I have a tutorial for it here, and an even better one at Vanderbillydotcom.

    peace, Amy

  • Cool cover ow long will I need to play this? Could I play it in 2 weeks?

  • @99iron99 thanks. That is impossible for me to answer. It depends how good at guitar you are, how quickly you learn & how well you know the song. Good luck with it!

    Amy

  • @amccann7 I play already 4 years, I learn fast, and I know the song very well :P

WOuld you say at least 2 weeks?

  • @99iron99 Give it a go, and let me know how long it takes. I suppose you could get it down in 2 weeks building gradually on the speed and paying constant attention to the rhythm. Then practice along with the recording till you get it perfected.

    Have fun!

    Amy

  • @amccann7 I don't know if I can learn this in2 yrs. lol I don't have much patience for that finger picking stuff, but I have to give it a go. my son is wanting to learn it. even though it's a great tune. it looks like a pain to get used to. thanks for having both videos. It's nice to hear the pay off. I will listen to this when learning it, to ease my headache of my own practice. lmao...may sound funny but it's true.

  • Very,very beautiful. Thanks,Amy.

  • Fuckin amazing!!

  • You should try dancing to them.......!

Just discovered Richard Thompson( Fairport Convention,) uses C6 occassionally in his music, isn't it considered a ' Celtic Tuning'?

Like to know where Jimmy Page got his influence from, as his Accoustic work is very unique, I'm sure you will agree!

  • amazing

  • You would more than welcome Amy, bring your guitar along with you, jam with the Scottish folks! ( meant to ask, that is C6 you play the song in,isn't it?

  • @iaingbrennan yes C6.

I really love scottish reels...strathspey reels...

    Amy

  • It's on the South West of Scotland between the Mull of Kintyre, and Mainland Scotland, Home to so much musical talent, Its where I learned to play guitar, 20 years ago, love open tunings, Big fan of Joni Mitchell, understand she uses around 53 of them!

    Keep up the good work!

  • @iaingbrennan oh, thanx alot, now I'll be singing "Mull of Kintyre" all day long! haha!

Well, I must visit this island some day it sounds very interesting.

Yes, Joni Mitchell is awesome. I used to sing some of her songs when I was younger. Thanks for dropping by again Iain,

    Amy

  • Now the performance! Nice one Amy! ( like the upstroke strum at the end,) one thing that always seem to arise, when learning a song, is the tendancy to 'wander off' into different riffs, ( possibly because it's such a vesatile tuning ) anyhow, got me a cutaway Martin recently, so I am currently enjoying it!

Greetings from a small Island off Scotland, called Arran.

  • @iaingbrennan I dont know about your Island; I'm going to look it up after this message! Oh I am a huge open-tuning wanderer! haha. That's a fun way for me to write songs actually, get into open tuning and then explore the possibilities that lie therein!

    Thanks for your comment,

    Amy

  • WOW Amy ! I'm so uplifted by your talent. And now Troubleclef is sharing ... This is too much...

I've been away in the North for a while now... but I'm still eager to watch your videos when I get connected.

  • @DanOblacksmith very funny!

    peace, Amy

  • I love Jimmy. His playing, melodies, everything. Visited Boleskin house at Loch Ness which he and Crowley owned. Very strange place.

  • @Desotoguitarist Hi J!!! Wow so cool you went to Boleskine manor. I read a biography about Aleister Crowley and it spoke of the magic he performed at that place. I am sure it was charged with spiritual activity. Did you feel it when you were there? Or was it just like any other place?

    Amy

  • Am listening to Led Zeppelin's catalog of music, and reached "Bron Yr Aur". I was delighted by this little song, and wanted to learn to play it. I found your lesson, and I watched this, your performance. Bravo bravo bravo!

  • @rickumali thanks Rick,

    peace, amy

  • Absolutly beautiful

  • @mrdex424 thanks!

    ~Amy

  • @amccann7

I really like the way you smiled at about 0:08

It's kinda like a Mona Lisa smile - content & personable.

I wish I had the discipline to play an instrument so well.

  • There is such clarity of the melody in the sound of this guitar...Very Beautifully played!...:-)

  • Great Job Amy!!! I'm working on learning this one now. Just have to get my finger picking down! Have you ever tried doing "The Rain Song?" Another beautiful Zep song to learn!!!

  • thanks Donny. Yeah, I've tried the Rain Song. I learned it in standard, but later learned it was in an open tuning.

    Good luck with your fingerpicking!

    Peace, Amy

  • Amy, i'ts still amazing.

    :)

  • Jimmy himself would be proud....congrats on your hard work :)

  • Amy one question:

What is the order that you play the strings with the rigth hand, could you plese teachme?

    Thanks

  • the Greatest, ever seen

    continue

  • My favorite song. You so nailed it. You are able to let it continuously ring for that full effect. Positively the best version on YT. I've had my guitar tuned to c# since Thanksgiving working on this song. Played it 1000 times and I still struggle. You make it look effortless..just amazing!

  • Its amazing.

Wonderful, and peaceful music, and excellent presentation.

    :)

  • WOW. That was amazing!

    5*****

  • beautiful. is this in the same tuning as bron yr aur stomp?

  • Thanks. I'm really not sure 21golden007, as I dont play Bron Yr Aur Stomp. But there are many other covers of it on YT; check John Curran's version; he may post the tuning. His is the best on YT IMO.

    ~Amy

  • That was just,... awesome! Very nice touch, beautiful feel and tone throughout. I thought some parts were even better than Jimmy (sacrilegious, I know). Since I'm a total hack on a guitar, I'll leave off any minor critique, but when I do finally learn this song (and maybe start sharing my humble attempts on Youtube) this video will have been a major stepping stone for me. Bravo, Amy! Thank you!

  • very sweet of you Rob; I also uploaded a tutorial of this song if you're interested,

    ~Amy

  • beautiful. just beautiful. what are you using? sounds like you're hooked up to an acoustic amp. very nice!

  • hi Caintapi! As stated in the song description, the guitar was pre-recorded by me on the Martin. shortly after recording it, I injured my hand badly, so to make the video I played softly along on my classical guitar to the backing track.

    peace, Amy

  • Hi Amy! Of course I'v been watching this cover many time! :)

Your guitar sounds are so tender. :)

    I love them!

  • thank you Hiro! I also love your version of it;

    ~Amy

  • Wow - I love this song. It just talks to you. You played it so nice. Thanks for sending all those vids. I will have to check them all out. Your a fantastic musician. I hope 2010 is a productive year for you. Happy New Year.

  • One of the best (if not the best) Bron Yr Aur covers on Youtube. The ending's a bitch isn't it?

  • what is the tuning for this song? good job by the way, sounded great

  • Simply wow... as you !!!

  • i once tried to learn this, but i had to stop because my strings kept getting ruined when i put them in the nonstandard tuning.

  • sometimes I just leave a guitar in a certain tuning for a while and then it gets used to that tension and holds better.

    thanks for dropping by,

    Amy

  • You have a beautiful aura about you and it comes through in your music. This is just lovely.

    Peace and Love ~ ~ ~ ~

  • @ladyterrific

The aura is just backlighting ;)

    (Excellent rendition of the song)

I saw one Tablature with an Open C6 tuning (CACGCE) low to high

By Andrew M. Gray (in case you wanna google it)

  • Wow, love your tone Amy!

This instrumental piece was written by Jimmy Page. Bron-yr-Aur (pronounced "Bron-rar") is a place in Wales where Page and Plant went to relax after they completed a long tour of the USA. Page wrote the piece and it was recorded in 1970 at the Led Zeppelin III sessions.

Amy do you use open C tuning in your version?

  • WOW!

  • Great tone. You make it look easy.

  • Fantastic!

  • One of most favorite songs to listen to and play! Excellent playing 500 stars!

  • You play it with such nice feeling!, wish I could do that, I can do that sometimes, but usually get quite tense towards the end. I posted a video response, hope you like it.

  • Wow!!! Nice that I found this. Amy is great. Sounds like studio quality. U have a cd? I will buy it....: - )

  • One of the best covers of this song! The atmosphere was awesome!

  • Gorgeous cover. I love Led Zepplin. :D xox

  • Are you single?

  • Wow!!!!!

  • Hi Amy, Stupendous COVER of a guitarist that I love belonging to the great history of a great Group as Led Zeppelin!!Compliments!!!55555555555 * a super hi from Italy and from Pino

  • You are brilliant. Truly talented. Well done!

  • Me gusta tu SONRISA =)

  • beautiful cover - sounds like the original !

  • Probably the best on YT (and believe me, I think I've seen most of them).

  • Wow, great playing Amy, flawless! Adding this to my favorites... Led Zeppelin is also one if my all time favorite bands and I play guitar because of Jimmy Page. Jimmy Page is the nickname I was given in high school.

  • Many have tried, few have succeeded! Congratulations! I salute you!

  • wonderful job Amy ! I really enjoy of the melody of this song ..5/5

  • Wow. As good as the original! What's the tuning and what guitar are you using?

  • Perfection as always, Amy! Beautiful. The "confusion" on crippeto's part only confirms that!

  • Wow another one of Amy's great led zeppelin covers, like there are no others. It is so refreshing to not only see a great female fan of such an incredible band, but also one that can do such refreshing acoustic versions of the timeless musical genius known as Led Zeppelin.
