I can't say the device does, or doesn't work, because I don't have the money to replicate it. However, I have seen (and built) many devices work that have been debunked by others. I think the key to the success of a device is the ability for large companies to make money from it. If a device is so efficient that it eliminates the ability of large companies to make money, it will be stopped at all costs.
Though I don't like it, the time of these devices is the future, not the capitalist present.

Instead of the full demonstration he promises to get people to come and pay him the entry fee he shows them a "Mock up model" which runs on either a car battery or wall outlet. Infact I have been unable to track down anyone who is not a current or former member of his little circle of friends that claims to have seen a real demonstration. No such person exists.

@popcornau Actually real scientists have pretty much concluded that for now our understanding of gravity shows that antigravity is not possible. We would have to learn far more about how gravity works before we could come up with anything that is even remotely similar to antigravity. At present the only way we know of to produce antigravity would be to reduce an object's mass to 0. It is impossible to have an object with 0 mass as all matter has mass and all objects are composed of matter.

I winder why I never came upon this information before. This is truly exciting! Is Professor Searl open to making household or village sized units as well? The current nationwide grid structure is open to damage and destruction from outside forces such as solar plasma ejections during the solar storm cycle, etc. A more localized set up that can be readily connected and disconnected from a larger grid system and still provide local energy seems more efficient and cost effective to me.

So obviously no one will go broke, and the investors will make a great deal of return on their investment for a divided amount of ten million or so to build a few domestic SEG prototypes. @Beamshipcaptain There is a difference that I shall point out: your typical movie made in Hollywood brings in millions of dollars which is why a lot of people are not going broke in Hollywood; however, that doesn't mean a production studio cannot go broke in Hollywood. Cost is relative to the economy meaning how much it costs to build today is relative to the current economy which means the cost is, technically, the same even if the number appears to be much larger.

This is a very interesting concept, however as of yet we still exist in a world where entropy exists. There are a lot of things that work in theory, but not in practice due to the numbers and imperfections of materials, conditions, etc.

With a superconducting coil, you can have an arbitrarily strong field with zero power input. The power you can extract, however, is limited by the power input, i.e. you can't get out more than you put in. Since you mention dark matter, btw, did you know that WIMPs are their own antiparticle? Now there could be cheap energy there.

Although magnets have limited potential energy, it is during its intitial state. Electromagnetics can be recharged. Ion drives are the future within the propulsion spectrum and the SEG is the starting point to its creation. Magnetics will most likely be the backbone behind future propulsion systems.

Classical physics only takes you so far. THe physics used by the Black Budget military is 80-100 years ahead of what we are shown publicly.

Did you guys know that Searl claims the SEG is capable of generating up to 1.5 Gigawatts? Lets put that into perspective... based on the average cost of electricity in the U.S. in april 2009 if this machine ran at peak output for 1 minute it would have produced $3,000 worth in electricity, after an hour it would have produced $180,000 worth, and after a full day of operation it would have produced $4,320,000 worth. Why does Searl need investors if he can sell the power the prototype generates?
He claims that a 12 meter diameter SEG could produce 1GW. This one is probably about 1 Meter across, at best. The material used is expensive, the team of engineers working on it need to be paid, and their office rent/lease needs to be paid. The large version isn't working, yet, but they have relocated to California to finish the construction.

@soldog Have you heard of the IGV or Levity Disk as he sometimes calls it? It is a disk shaped space craft that John Searl claims to have built and flowen in 1965. The SEG claimed to have powered it was far smaller than 12 meters in diameter and he claims that that specific one produced 1.5 gigawatts. More to the point he also claims that it was fully functional. If he had such a machine in his possession the logical thing to do with it would be to sell the power produced to acuire funding.

@albdavidt Actually if any of us make the machine and it does not work Searl's followers will just claim that we got something wrong. That is why it would be a waste of time to do it. The only person who could successfully achieve anything by actually making the machine is Searl himself... who has been unable to produce a working model infront of an audiance for 60 years. It is not because of costs... he claims the first one cost $100. I should think that is proof enough that it does not work.

To top that off every time he holds one of his speeches he claims that he will do a presentation of an actual working model, but after collecting everyone's entry fee he reveals that "technical difficulties" are preventing it from working and instead presents a mock up model running on outlet power... This is an example a bait and switch scam.

They usually just copy some random device they managed to find from over 100 years ago, replicate it, and then start running a scam based around it. This SEG is one of the few that actually uses an original device rather then just a copy so at least Searl has some degree of creativity... But have you actually heard some of his claims?

When asked why he only shows a mock up instead of a real selfrunning model he says it is because he needs $300,000 to build a self running model. I can't say the device does, or doesn't work, because I don't have the money to replicate it. However, I have seen (and built) many devices work that have been debunked by others. I think the key to the success of a device is the ability for large companies to make money from it. If a device is so efficient that it eliminates the ability of large companies to make money, it will be stopped at all costs.
Though I don't like it, the time of these devices is the future, not the capitalist present.

Instead of the full demonstration he promises to get people to come and pay him the entry fee he shows them a "Mock up model" which runs on either a car battery or wall outlet. Infact I have been unable to track down anyone who is not a current or former member of his little circle of friends that claims to have seen a real demonstration. No such person exists.

@popcornau Actually real scientists have pretty much concluded that for now our understanding of gravity shows that antigravity is not possible. We would have to learn far more about how gravity works before we could come up with anything that is even remotely similar to antigravity. At present the only way we know of to produce antigravity would be to reduce an object's mass to 0. It is impossible to have an object with 0 mass as all matter has mass and all objects are composed of matter.

I have spent the last several months interviewing people who have been to many of Searl's presentations aswell as several of his Ex-Neighbors. One thing all of the witnesses had in common was they where dissapointed by the fact even though they where told they would see definative proof the machine does as claimed... when they got there all that was presented to them was a mock up model run by a car battery.

They could not have been stolen because he claims he built them in different locations all over the world. No one can simultaneously steal them all under such conditions. I winder why I never came upon this information before. This is truly exciting! Is Professor Searl open to making household or village sized units as well? The current nationwide grid structure is open to damage and destruction from outside forces such as solar plasma ejections during the solar storm cycle, etc. A more localized set up that can be readily connected and disconnected from a larger grid system and still provide local energy seems more efficient and cost effective to me.

@daexion No. Your typical sex-comedy made in Hollywood costs millions of dollars to make. I see no one going broke in Hollywood making those, and many are made each year. So obviously no one will go broke, and the investors will make a great deal of return on their investment for a divided amount of ten million or so to build a few domestic SEG prototypes. Cost shave gone way up since 1946, it cost less than pennies on the dollar to make them in the 1940s-50s.

@Beamshipcaptain There is a difference that I shall point out: your typical movie made in Hollywood brings in millions of dollars which is why a lot of people are not going broke in Hollywood; however, that doesn't mean a production studio cannot go broke in Hollywood. Cost is relative to the economy meaning how much it costs to build today is relative to the current economy which means the cost is, technically, the same even if the number appears to be much larger.

This is NOT perpetual motion. This would be considered a science of deminishing returns as magnets do not retain their "energy" forever. The idea has considerable merrit if you look at it in the proper ways. Don't go through life saying it won't work because we've never done it that way before. This is a very interesting concept, however as of yet we still exist in a world where entropy exists. There are a lot of things that work in theory, but not in practice due to the numbers and imperfections of materials, conditions, etc.
This boils down to a neat parlor trick for nerdy scientists, and believe me I do think it's pretty cool, but it is not useful in the least. There is no physical gearing so any point that you would draw energy from would reduce very quickly to zero.

@admiraliggz What has dark matter got to do with magnets? please tell. The force from an electrically generated field is limited by current flow, not power input. With a superconducting coil, you can have an arbitrarily strong field with zero power input. The power you can extract, however, is limited by the power input, i.e. you can't get out more than you put in. Since you mention dark matter, btw, did you know that WIMPs are their own antiparticle? Now there could be cheap energy there.

I'm skeptical, because these supposed 'free energy' devices contradict the established laws of physics, not to mention the history of scams and fraudsters. That just means there's a high burden of proof, but I'm still open to the possibility of a loophole. I just think that it won't come from a clever arrangement of magnets.

Although magnets have limited potential energy, it is during its intitial state. Electromagnetics can be recharged. Ion drives are the future within the propulsion spectrum and the SEG is the starting point to its creation. Magnetics will most likely be the backbone behind future propulsion systems.

So... Where is it? Where are the devices running on this energy? Also has anyone questioned whether an entire planet running on these devices might drain the ' free' energy from the planet? this energy, as I believe, is tapped from the magnetic field created from the rotating iron core in our planet which creates the magnetosphere that deflects solar radiation. Did you guys know that Searl claims the SEG is capable of generating up to 1.5 Gigawatts? Lets put that into perspective... based on the average cost of electricity in the U.S. in april 2009 if this machine ran at peak output for 1 minute it would have produced $3,000 worth in electricity, after an hour it would have produced $180,000 worth, and after a full day of operation it would have produced $4,320,000 worth. Why does Searl need investors if he can sell the power the prototype generates?

He claims that a 12 meter diameter SEG could produce 1GW. This one is probably about 1 Meter across, at best. The material used is expensive, the team of engineers working on it need to be paid, and their office rent/lease needs to be paid. The large version isn't working, yet, but they have relocated to California to finish the construction.

@soldog Have you heard of the IGV or Levity Disk as he sometimes calls it? It is a disk shaped space craft that John Searl claims to have built and flowen in 1965. The SEG claimed to have powered it was far smaller than 12 meters in diameter and he claims that that specific one produced 1.5 gigawatts. More to the point he also claims that it was fully functional. If he had such a machine in his possession the logical thing to do with it would be to sell the power produced to acuire funding.
