movie? you cannot tell a story such as this in a movie. no, i think to do it Justus it should be a TV series on a net work like HBO or showtime. that was you can get away with blood, gore, nudity and violence. and stretch it out over years, doing a book per season and doing it right. you cannot tell me it would not work. look at true blood on HBO? if they can get away with some of the shit they do on that show, they can do elric. just need a producer/director with vision. and balls...

I wish the Elric Saga would be made into a proper film series, but Hollyweird refuses to take chances on anything other than remakes these days. That and it's far too dark, grim, moody, and creepy/disturbing for John & Jane Q. Public to handle. We have the technology to bring Moorcock's world to life, to bring the Black Sword to life properly...but he is a difficult character to cast, too. A real acting challenge. We can keep dreaming...

Why does Elric have to be portrayed as the archetypal muscle bound fantasy hero. He should look thin and sickly. More like the weedy sorcerer who gets his fighting prowess from his weapon.

There are rumors of 2010, but Moorcock said that they are moving slow on it which doesn't bother him because he wants it done right. Also, Universal doesn't own the rights to any other champion at the moment so they won't be in the first film.

If in another lifetime I was a director then this would definitely be one story that I would want to make into a movie.

I think that it would be difficult to write a script for the Elric movie, though. It would definitely have to be a trilogy which would require a studio to commit to a story with controversial & dark themes which migh not generate a profit. I think Elric was a better story than Lord of the Rings, but lets face it. . LOTR has far more popularity.

@konman001 I read somewhere that michael Moorcock had plenty of offers to make books in to a movie, but he choose not to, because so much is lost between the book and film (sry cant remember where i read that)

@mpm99klf they were going to but finding the right person to play Elric was hard they needed to make him very convincing maybe even using an albino actor their was talks about using Johnny winter as was albino and looked like Elrick a bit but hes too old now dont know if his brother is intrested so the idea was shelved but never say never they might make it into a lavish film one day Lord of the rings style
