Interesting round table, not much said that we already don't know but the idea of using the gyro for FPS looks promising. Ubisoft developers said, when asked about the WiiU hardware, that the hardware is still being developed and upgraded so we might see a 4 tablet controller support with 4 wii classic/motion controlers for up to 8 players local multiplayer experience with 4 players split screen and the other 4 with tablet screen. Fingers crossed for a strong enough processor to support this. :)
I hope that they give you the option to use the right stick to control the up/down and left/right camera instead of the gyroscope and accelerometer. The one thing that really bothered me about the Wii was the fact that they forced you to use the Wiimote. A lot of games could have been better with the option for Wiimote, Classic Controller and GameCube Controller.

For those who don't like the look of the new controller, the Wii U is compatible with all the Wii controllers, that includes the Classic controller pro, which has all the buttons and sticks the Xbox and PS3 controllers have. Aside form that, as someone who plays a lot of FPS games on the Xbox and Wii, I can say that the combination Wiimote and nunchuck control scheme is, in my opinion, by far the best for this kind of game. What could be more natural than point and shoot?

It's pretty clear from the demos that dual analog is a step back from infrared pointing. Hope FPS developers realize that and incorporate fully customizable wiimote control options in their games. So far I think Black Ops Wii had the best customization options and if every FPS on WiiU could achieve that level of support I'd be very happy.

Ok. Watched the video, and I need to take my words back a little. The gyro-aiming in Freaks looks fantastic. It looks a bit like virtual reality, a window to game world. Use that in Ghost Recon too, but don't forget Wiimote! Use it instead of Classic controller in brute mode.

Make Wiimote for a FPS -standard, and release Far Cry 3 for Wii U.
In some games the uPad could be used as a kind of back pack, where you could find inventories and maps. For example, instead of pausing the game for browsing, say, a hacking tool from a menu, you could put the weapons(Wiimote) down and pick the uPad for playing a hacking mini game in it...and perhaps, if you are attacked while you wait for hacking sequence to be ready, you need to put it down and pick up Weapons again.

@JTNugget It's not six year old technology. It's from 2009 which is really good hardware wise. The xbox had 2004 tech and the Ps3 had the 2005 tech plus bluray. It takes awhile to make consoles so they have to plan ahead. I have an Xbox360, Ps3, and a Wii. I love them all and i don't think this a failure.

Interesting. Nintendo introduces the Wii, then everyone thinks it's a fad. Sony and MS follow upon the success of Wii, but the Wii is still a fad. Now Nintendo introduces a new way to play so that all those sci-fy stuff EVERYONE wanted to try but with stunning HD (the bird and Zelda demos were in real time), but they're still a fad? WTF? This could also work for RPG's and MMO's with complex inventory systems as well as games like Lifeline. I'm a scy-fy fan, so I like this.

@Vlad88667 You can look at the Tv but the purpose of the screen is for inventory and maps but occasionally it can be looked at to play the entire game if someone takes the Tv. It's pretty clear from the demos that dual analog is a step back from infrared pointing. Hope FPS developers realize that and incorporate fully customizable wiimote control options in their games. So far I think Black Ops Wii had the best customization options and if every FPS on WiiU could achieve that level of support I'd be very happy.

Ok. Watched the video, and I need to take my words back a little. The gyro-aiming in Freaks looks fantastic. It looks a bit like virtual reality, a window to game world. Use that in Ghost Recon too, but don't forget Wiimote! Use it instead of Classic controller in brute mode.
The RTS vs FPS in freaks is freaking awesome

Make Wiimote for a FPS -standard, and release Far Cry 3 for Wii U.
In some games the uPad could be used as a kind of back pack, where you could find inventories and maps. For example, instead of pausing the game for browsing, say, a hacking tool from a menu, you could put the weapons(Wiimote) down and pick the uPad for playing a hacking mini game in it...and perhaps, if you are attacked while you wait for hacking sequence to be ready, you need to put it down and pick up Weapons again.

@JTNugget It's not six year old technology. It's from 2009 which is really good hardware wise. The xbox had 2004 tech and the Ps3 had the 2005 tech plus bluray. It takes awhile to make consoles so they have to plan ahead. I have an Xbox360, Ps3, and a Wii. I love them all and i don't think this a failure.

Look at a game like Battlefield 3 and how it completely smokes anything on current gen consoles and you don't even need an expensive PC to play it. PS4 and Xbox 720 are going to make the Wii U look just like the Wii when compared to the PS3 and 360. 3rd party support will dry up so fast it'll make your head spin.

@JTNugget By the way Dolphin Foundry are talking about the entire specs of the Wii U and how similar it might have been with the rumored specs but the true specs haven't been confirmed and it's pretty obvious that the Wii U isn't graphically similar to xbox or Ps3, just watch the beautiful tech demos. I can't wait to see how Microsoft and Sony top that cause it'll be awesome. If rumors are true that they won't release new consoles till 2013 - 2014 then they likely will surpass the Wii U not much
