One of our group who fancied himself as a journalist sneaked backstage and interviewed the band.
I think NME or Sounds paid a fortune for this after Ian's suicide and "Closer" went to no.1 ..........and the rest is history. SteveM

I was extremely lucky to be at this particular gig by default,really. A mate of mine was a big fan and got
us both tickets to go along with some others.I hadn't really heard much of their music up until then . The Ajanta club was a real shithole. I think it was a cinema playing Bollywood films in the day. I sniggered at first sight of Ian Curtis' insane dance routine........until they started playing and were awesome....became a lifelong devotee there and then.
