I always got nervous before the 400. Not because I was worried about my placing. But because I knew my body was going to hate me with every inch of its being.
@weatheraction1 If you run a 400m race as fast as you can you'll hit a 'wall' from the lactic acid in your body, usually after the 300m mark. If you go out as hard as Sally did it becomes unbearable - you don't want to move at all. I've ran all sorts of distances, and the 400m is the only race where I get butterflies in my stomach before I run!
@watermelonandpotato yeah, my friends told me that the 400m is supposably the hardest event because it's just a full out sprint basically for a whole lap, i can only do 100m and 200m or the mile but 400m :/ i cant sprint for a whole lap, maybe a 300m but yeah
@watermelonandpotato Actually "hitting the wall" refers to the total depletion of glycogen stored in muscles, which only happens during endurance events like a marathon. I know what you meant. I don't mean to be rude, but technically, she didn't actually "hit the wall."
@beastwool1 No worries, I didn't know there was an official definition for the term.
You do get to a stage in the 400 where you feel as if you're not sprinting, but no amount of willpower can make you run faster. I don't know what that is called but "hitting a wall" seems to fit!

to me it isnt the time that makes a sprinter, its their devotion to the race. if someone pushes themselves that hard, they've won in my book
