  • It would have been more interesting if they had used the AC4 head/cab. The head/cab version seems to cure the "boxy" sound that the combo has from the other videos I've seen. Probably partially because the cabinet version uses a 12" Celestion compared to the 6.5"-10" available in the combo.

  • Ridiculous comparison.

  • Orange is made for dirty and distorted playing. VOX is made for cleans :)

  • Whats that song at 2:00 ??

  • @WeLovePizza2012 it's cream...

  • @WeLovePizza2012 Cream - Sunshine of your love

  • @borek15 kayy thanx

  • one amp is 1000$, one amp is 250$.... which sounds better? Pretty obvious.

    Use a Night Train w/greenback cab, then we're apples/apples!

  • is this the 10 inch celestion for the vox ?? or the 8 inch ?? you say stock but you can get it either way stock .. i think they even make one with a 6.5 too .. i think the 12 in the orange makes a huge difference not to mention the vox is 4 watts and the orange is 15 .. i think the orange sounds better .. perhaps if you compared the tiny terror to the vox nighttrain usin the same speaker for both ??

  • Great comparison, but people who go on about how much better the tiny terror is are ignoring that these a,ps would be used for completely different styles of music

  • vox by a long shot.

  • The only thing that I might change in the comparison -The SM57 just doesn't capture all of the wonderful harmonics coming off of those tube amps. I'd love to see this again with an AT4040 or an AKG 414 back a few feet. That AC4 has such great tone, I'd love to see whether the Tiny Terror can match its warmth.

  • Weezer legend

  • cococombo breaker !

  • I have the ac4 mini stack. this sounds much better than the combo. also you have to take into account the head room that TT has over the ac4. not really a fair comparison. both are good amps. they just sound different. for the price you cant beat the ac4. my mini stack works really well with my pedal board.

  • i like the vox cleans more, but the tiny terror gain is much better

  • Great comparison! But is it really a comparison considering the price difference? Doesn't seem like the same level maybe the ac15 or even ac30 would've been better comparison.

  • TT FTW!!!

  • what song is that\

  • The Gibson with the VOX

  • what is the first song you play

  • I had one of these and sold it to a friend. He sounds good through it playing blues with a prs. I sounded like dog ass with my tele though...

  • Not really a fair shoot out, the Orange is 15 watt and the Vox is a 4 watt combo amplifier. Put the Orange up against a Vox Night Train NT15H.

  • Yeh that Orange tiny terror does sound alot better , but i can see how the vox would be good for less heavy styles

  • you're comparing a $230 amp versus a $575 amp (guitar center pricing), since you usually get what you pay for, it makes sense that the tiny terror sounds better, although i will say that the vox does sound very country-music-friendly with the strat and tele, and has the twang that the orange doesn't have, as well as being a little crisper and not as distortion-friendly as orange

  • ORANGE TINY TERROR RAWR!!!!!!

  • how loud can you get the vox before the amp starts nateraly distorting on its own?

  • i think the better way to have run this demo was with the orange at the 7 watt setting

after all, 15w vs. 4w is a big difference in clean headroom and even in crisp overdrive

can't fault the vox for sounding so good clean though.... mmmmm

  • both are great sounding. i will go with the vox because its alot cheaper and because of the attenuator. good video

  • Would it be loud enough to gig if I had a Tiny Terror with a PPC112 cab?

  • @CBamProductions Oh its loud enough! Its perfect for small gigs and can really shine on its own. For bigger venues you always mic upp the amps = its still enough even for arena gigs. I use mine live alot and I dont think I've gotten the chance to crank it once...

  • @MattTuffMusic

I'm not so sure man. It's definantly not loud enough for a hard rock band. Blues maybe, but just maybe. I play mine live all the time but I mic everytime. Can't beat it. All you need is a guitar a cord and the volume knob on said guitar. I play mine through a 4x10, and it gets burried on hard rock covers.

    nice cream tone btw,

  • @CBamProductions mic it and go through a PA, but for sure its loud enough without the PA

  • @CBamProductions I am currently using a Vox Night Train(also 15watt) with the Orange PPC212 cab and this thing is extremely loud, if you want something with more edge I recommend the 2x12 with closed back.

  • After a few mods to the AC4 I'm considering doing another video. Wont sound better with high gain though. I'm blaming the small transformers...

  • whats the first riff you played?

  • @gto225 say it aint so by weezer

  • vox is farting in frond of the tiny monster

  • whats the fist song ? i know it from somewhere but would break my brain in two pieces to find out. so please help me

  • @mrgaiusbonus

if you meant the first thing he plays?

that's "say it ain't so" from weezer

  • @DerEchteBold a genau danke!

  • @mrgaiusbonus say it aint so by weezer

  • are you comparing a 15W with a cab 60W speaker vs 4W with 10" 4W speaker?

Not fair. Please! try the Vox with the cab!

  • FATALITY!! Tiny Terror... WINS!!!

  • @IonsCreeper my review check it out

    youtube.com/watch?v=t6ByynW9_4c&NR=1

  • @IonsCreeper i have both. looks like hes playing the ac4 combo. the speaker in those is junk the MINI STACK ac4 though beats the shit out of my tiny terror. not quite as loud though. the ac4 combo doesnt even compare to the mini stack ac4

  • i own a voxac4. you gotta play um through different speakers. in my experience a nice pair of 2x12 speakers will make a giant difference in sound quality.

  • the Orange Tiny Terror makes the vox look like an old radio crackling... I own the vox..

  • whats the song on 1.54 please help me !!

  • orange ftw!

  • what's the song you play?

  • @taffykev11 sunshine of your life! best cream song, waaay better than sunshine of your love!

  • vox rulez

  • I MEAN- HEAR!!!!!!

  • woud be nice to here them both with the same speaker/cab.

  • Great comparison. The cost difference between the 2 is vast though.

  • @12caanis thats what i was thinking not a practical comparison cause i cant afford anything made by orange

  • The tiny terror sounds wild with the les paul. not so much with the vox. vice versa with the strat

  • Well done- thanks.

  • I have an AC4. Mine did have a buzzy overdrive quality. When the power tube gave out, I also put in a different 12AX7, and suddenly the swirly, chimey magic was there, it is a proper VOX!

  • I think the vox sounds kinda muffled and more compressed than the orange.that vox just sounds like a box full of poop.lol.but oh my god that sunshine of your love tone with the TT :D jeebus that sounds amazing.Methinks I want an orange now haha.

  • Apples to Oranges.. 15w vs. 4w? I like the Vox and the Orange. I own the Vox, and it works for my needs. I would love to have the Orange too. You have some cool amps.

  • i like the orange better.

  • @hutlazzz I think someone needs to read up on some facts.

  • @MattTuffMusic yeah... sunshine of your love was recorded on either a LP or a 335

  • @MattTuffMusic ahaha.

  • @MattTuffMusic Didn't he use an SG?

  • @MattTuffMusic Yeah, as it was played on a ES 335.

  • @MattTuffMusic Orange!I would like to know if it's possible to add the Tinny Terror or any other tube head to my Vox VT20+?Or do you have to have a straight cab?

  • @hutlazzz No mate ,,, done on SG

  • @hutlazzz A Strat? Hahahahaha!!!

  • @hutlazzz A Strat? Hahahahaha....you have a great sense of humour. Maybe you should be a comedian instead of posting incorrect facts:-)

  • @hutlazzz A Strat? Hahahahaha....you have a great sense of humour.

  • @hutlazzz Clapton played it on an SG, but really, as long as it is a working guitar with six strings, it should be good enough.

  • @hutlazzz lmfao

  • @hutlazzz actually, clapton mainly used a les paul in his john mayal days, and either used a les paul or his psychedelic sg in sunshine for your love. he didnt start using strats until years later.

  • @aektzis91 and eric clapton mid boosts his strats with vintage noisless pickups to make em sound like a big hairy set o' buckers. so even if he was quoting the recent live work unless you own a computer controlled not realy single coily toned guitar, youd still be better off playing it on an gibsonish guitar

  • @hutlazzz I hate people like you. WTF are you sayin? What's the problem of doin with a les paul sunshine of your love? HANDS MATTER! Shut up!

  • not a good video to compare with. it's not the playing, but everything sounds muddy on these videos. :/ I don't know if it's the camera, equipment or your EQ.

  • Ive been looking at these TT's for a while now and this video really shows the mids that the TT has....would you say that it always sounds mid rangey...and can you use and eq pedal to separate the tones better...thnks

  • lol, you give your AC4 some tuff competition.

  • Tiny Terror no doubts!!!!!!!!!

  • When I had the Orange Tiny I was amazed by its ability to replicate Zep and Sabbath tones and everything else. Its distortion was perfect for rhythm but clanky for lead but thats classic rock! For cleans I thought it was organic and good but maybe a bit flat tone wise.

The Vox seems appealing especially in the other vid with the guy playing U2 but I'd have to try it out. I like the orange sounds better in this vid esp. on sunshine!

  • For crunch tone the orange seems warmer, punchier and less harsh than the vox. For clean tone I would prefer the vox.

  • Yeah but the orange amp costs alot more, i like the vox more cuz its good for beginners to learn picking dynamics.

  • @ZacharyWeekend I'm guessing because you actually typed the word "cuz", that you're a beginner. Is that what you're saying?

  • @ZachWildSuxxx and how i spell the word cause is related to my skills at guitar ? FUCK OFF STUPID CUNT.

  • How about a comparison for the Vox & Blackstars ht5

  • Tiny terror all the way!

  • Tiny Terror costs about 3 times as muc has the vox?

  • Both are great amps..I have the ac4tv its a mini ac30 tone very cool.. Oh the head version sounds more full im serious, Nice review i think ill get a tiny terror also.

  • Mr Cab Driver..... Nice

  • what is the name of the first song?

  • @ivan9992 say it aint so by Weezer

  • Whats the first bit you play? Sounds good on the Tiny terror ;D

  • would the head&cab version of ac4 sound better than the combo?

  • The Orange seems to want to have a loud sound even at low volumes whereas the Vox could care care less about loud as much as sweet. Death metal on a Vox? I doubt it. Has Fender gotten into the mini market? I'd love to hear a 1965 pre-CBS Bassman head on couple of 12" Jensens or Utahs. Also, has anyone developed on the idea of the old Seymour Duncan Convertible Amp idea? I imagine someone should be able to integrate about any parts combination into an 'Any Amp' platform- Where are you Heath-Kit?

  • The AC4 sounded great on Sunshine of Your Love. The Tiny Terror grabbed the honors for all the rest...

  • what is the first song ????

  • I have the vox - it is muddy :-(

  • Hey man, you can get much better sound on the VOX AC4 TV than on this video. It is not fair.

  • WEEZER FOR LIFE

  • these are 2 different amps, both are sort of british sounding but the Vox shouts back to really gritty stuff, whilst the orange is more defined. I think a fairer shootout would be between an Orange and a marshall and a Vox and a Laney IMO.

  • Have to admit the Orange sounds better in this demo, to me anyway. The Vox sounds like a, well, practice amp! Be nice to hear both in the context of a recorded mix. That usually changes everything.

  • hey could you tell me where you placed the sm57 on the cab?

im recording my les paul through a orange rockerverb 50 (4x12 cab) and im having trouble finding reallly good tone. i need perfect tone because im recoding my album with this tone...thanks

    mike

  • I'd really like to hear a clip with the A4 into a 12" speaker.

The stock speaker sounds very boxy to me, so it's probably not a fair comparison.

  • vox all the way

  • from personal playing of both brands vox has always been the best in clean and orange amps gain rivals no other

  • whats the first song he plays? i kinda like that riff XD

  • @amrcuser Say It Ain't So by Weezer

  • i'd take an ac4 head and a 112 cab any day over the orange... but those amps are very different animals and everyone has an opinion. features-wise, the wattage options on the ac4's are making me think of picking up the head in place of my AC15TVH for recording at home.

  • vox,,,no doubt

  • Both Are Good!!

Orange is like a percent Better than The

    Vox

  • Orange slaughters Vox

  • I played an AC4 head through a 12" cab recently. Sounds amazing, huge improvement over the combo. If you buy the AC4, buy the head+cab.

  • both of them sound fucking awesome.. id had to have em both

  • My opinion as follows:

    1: Orange w. Les Paul

    2: Orange w. Strat

    3: Vox w. Strat

    4: Vox w. Les Paul

  • tinny terror is much better!!!!

  • Yo ocuparia el vox ac4tv, es muy sencillo y muy baratisimo para lo que es, es un amplificador de calidad. en cambio el orange tal vez suena mejor que el vox, pero cuesta el doble :S

  • First nice video dude ! thx for tried this both amp...i prefer the vox because of the 'old school sound" but the tiny has a fucking nice tone two...i gonna buy a vox head amp with a sg standard ebony...hope it's gonna be kickass

  • the Vox sounds kinda muddy in this video, is it the camera or something cause usually they sound brighter than that

  • @carrivera93 The mic placement on both of the amps are as similar as possible. This does not necessarily bring out the best of both speakers, but hopefully brings out the general sound of the amp.

  • @MattTuffMusic lol you got that dubed "women tone" by clapton!!! that is truly sick!! i am pumped to get the cab for the vox!

  • @MattTuffMusic Sounds closed mic'd. I could be wrong, but it if is, next time don't do that. By placing the mic further back you're going to get a much better sense of how the amp actually projects.

  • @carrivera93

TinyTerror -Tone set a bit back of 12.

    AC4 - Tone at 2 o'clock

And AC4 sounds tiny, while TT muddy. The nuances decide :)

    @Matt

    Great demo. Great sound.

To make it sound better and more opened, you'll have to push power tubes hard with master volume more than 6.

  • @carrivera93 The Vox actually sounds knda muddy, i tested it a lot.

  • The TT tend to sound fizzy when recorded, sounds much more lively irl.

  • I like the Orange tone. I like how there's a fuzzy sound to it when it breaks up, too.

  • both great amps dude :)

  • orange tiny terror wins, i have a vox AC4TV tho, with a distort pedal it really wakes it up.

  • Which distortion pedal are you using with it? I'm currently trying to decide.. Cheers

  • @screamedthemouth well any really, as of now im using a boss multi effects ME-70 set to overdrive and its not phenomenal, but it does make it sound better. my brother uses a danelectro distortion with the vox and it gives you some really nice PAF crunch tones.

  • orange wins but the vox does sound good too just not as good as the tiny terror

  • Great demo, nice tonal capture.

  • title song 0:30 please

  • I have a VOX amp now I'd like an Orange too lol

  • really liked both, but I would pick the orange. Awesome playing btw!!!

  • I played the Vox recently and was pleasently surprised at how much tone (and volume) came outta that little box.

However, on distortion, the tiny terror really beats the vox.

    Both really cool amps ;-)

  • Cool comparison!

Two great little tube amps, just ideal for practice.

I think both are good amps, but they have their own character.

My opinion is that the Vox Ac4 shines on a clean setting, but it won't handle the cruch and the distortion like the Tiny Terror. I think it's not made to run distortion. Seems like it's baffled or muffled.IMO.

So the Tiny Terror is my election, without any doubt. Plus it has the switch for 7W to 15W.

  • orange all the way on this, easy, easy, easy......

  • Both cool amps. Should have plugged the vox into a bigger cab or even the orange cab.

  • @mmare1 Absolutely. I guess what you hear here is more a comparision of a 10" in a small cab with 12" in a big cab.

  • I think they both sound great! The vox is what it is and i love it for that. So is the orange and i love it. both diff beasts.great vid!

  • What song is that at the 56 second mark ?

  • mr cab driver lenny kravitz

  • sounds like Charlotte Church to me!! oh the horror....

  • Orange's Tiny Terror wins this one. Usually I'm a huge fan of VOX, though. I was a little taken by it.

  • I think they both sound pretty, just different. I have the VOX and really like it with my Strat & Tele. But it doesn't sound very good with my Gibson ES137. But I had a Epi '57 re-issure Explorer that sounded good too. So I think maybe it just doesn't like the P100 pups.

  • I meant to say "pretty good".

  • When I played the Ac4 i was very disappointed and I am a Vox user. But I think the Terror kills this one. Its way classier too lol

  • whats the song when he starts using the les paul?

  • @Samster65 Sunshine of your love by Cream

  • i like the vox ac4tv8 better butt thats just me opinion great chops man

  • Why not compare the vox head and 12" cabinet for a more realistic side-by-side comparison?

  • I love the AC4TV sound! :)

  • I know that song is say it aint so. The one at the start but doesnt it sound like I love college by Asher Roth?

    maybe im just crazy..

  • yes when i first heard that song i was trippin also.

  • Unfair and non objective comparison because of loudspeaker on vox is 10 inche versus 12 for the orange. Plug the vox into the samve V30 celestion cabinet...

  • the Vox AC4 has a speaker output so you can run a cabinet with it...

  • The terror is warmer sounding imo..

  • TINY TERROR!!!!!!

  • I bet a TT head would look sexy with two PPC 112s. Little mini stack :)

  • the orange is more punky, but w8, orange-lespaul , vox-stratocaster? if so thats y the sound of the orange sounds bigger (i guess ..)

  • @coreyfromtheband Guitars are always the same for the various songs.
