You can see A-7E Corsair modex "412" blow a tire during launch at 1:44. This aircraft had to be recovered into the barricade, they used that footage earlier in the movie just after Nimitz goes through the portal.

LOL believe it or not the Nimitz class carriers were designed to take hits from every thing but a nuclear weapon and still be operational. Even if the entire 1941japanese navy including the Huge battleship yamato unloaded all their shells into the damn thing they couldn't damage it enough to sink it.

Still you shouldn't just sit there and let them scuff up your planes and ship

@irish89055 i know eh... the navy demo team should use Tomcats instead of the Hornets... they can keep flying them until they run out of spare parts... with only 6 or so flying that will take 10 years or more lol :D.

Even if you could change history, it would change who you are today.

If you became a good fighter because you were bullied as a kid, what will going back in time and getting preemptive revenge on those bullies do for you? It will teach your younger self that "someone else will do the fighting for you", and you will never learn how to fight.

The US Navy needed Pearl Harbor 1941 to make it what it is today.

Great stuff loved "The Final Countdown" as a kid (even if the plot of a nuclear aircraft carrier getting "sucked backwards in time" to just before Dec 7,1941 is a little hokey)! It was some of the best F-14 Tomcat footage on screen until "Top Gun" came out. One minor gripe, why is the volume so low?
