It angers the male lions when ever they see hyenas trasspass on their turf and terrorising the lionesses. You can imagine one day you're coming from work, you get home only to see some cocky burglers harrasing your family in your own house hold, That would definatley push me to the edge, and i wouldn't think twice of hurting them. and fuck calling the police coz they would take their time while munching on donouts.

@XMIR10C you are right they often win versus lionesses when it comes down to chasing them off with big numbers.

However a male lion almost always tips the balance back to the side of the lions.

A fully grown male lion is feared by all hyena's.

I respect hyena's for their courage and incredible cunning though.

I watched this program and that hyena at the start isn't even a fully grown adult and it holds its own against 4 lionesses. Obviously it cant survive an attack by a male lion but i still think the hyena deserves respect for being a very tough opponent. If that were a cheetah, leopard or wild dog they would have been killed instantly.

I saw 3 lionesses. One healthy lioness should be able to kill any one hyena. In any case, you have to be impressed with how tough the hyena is and wonder is there any canine capable of defeating one? It could only be a gray wolf, not any domestic dog. African wild dogs have no fear as to engaging hyenas because they are faster and more maneuverable. They better be being about one third the size. That lone hyena may have been starving and took a chance.
