  • funny and uniquely good..

  • Very informative video. Concise, interesting, funny. Good job.

  • Which episode is this?

  • Because of two cycles, (fz) and (ahlpbew), Sweet Clyde and Bubblegum Tate ended up in their own bodies. According to the theorem, with only one cycle they would be swapped. I'm wondering if even number of cycles was done on purpose by Ken Keeler.

  • Consider your mind blown!

  • @singingbanana I'm going to subtitle this in spanish and upload it.

  • grrrr,wish i understood

  • You heard him kids, don't neglect math class; Because one day you may be a TV writer.

  • I like Futurama for duh purdy colors.

  • my brain just exploded :/

  • I'm a bit confused, I vaguely remember products of permutations where they need to be done from right to left, but your result of (ap)(ab)(pl)(aw)(fz)(ew)(hl)=(fz)(ahlpbew) is found by going left to right. Or have I forgot everything I learned last year?

  • @justinaandrews Some mathematician write it right-to-left, some write it left-to-right. I myself write it right-to-left as you have been taught, but decided left-to-right would look more natural to non-mathematicians.

  • @singingbanana Ah thanks. Really enjoyed the video.

  • Why are Fry and Zoidberg the special ones in the equation that can help everyone else back to normal? Is it because they switch bodies only once?

  • @Neros3443 Yes. They only swapped once, and only with each other. They make a a separate two person chain of their own so they can take the part of the additional two people you need to sort the others back to where they should be, and in doing so Fry and Zoidberg are also returned to normal.

  • but will it blend?

  • Which episode is this

  • "why work for a dump like harvard when you can work for a dump like fox" pure gold

  • I hate when every one has some sort of accent spelling fail

  • mind boggled

  • could they do it with just 4 bodies?

  • The most simple way would be to use professors oneway timemachine (that he invented 3 episodes before this) to go around the time and then destroy to machine in the next universe before anyone used it.

  • @HORRIOR Except as we learn in BSG, let a complex system repeat itself enough times and random changes may happen. Chaos Theory n all that. Uncertainty too. Theres no guarantee going through the time machine to another big bang would result in an identical universe.

  • ok, I just had a brain stroke. I suck @ math

  • ...You're secretly the Doctor From Doctor Who aren't you?

  • @infernai lol i was just thinking that, on another note wat am i going to watch this summer... DAMN CLIFFHANGERS!!!

  • hahaha Elbow patches.

  • "Dump like Harvard" = pwnt "dump like FOX" haha pwnt again :p

  • Keelers theoweuvthem

  • Don't see how to do it in less than 9:

1 Fry X Hermes = Fry is Amy, Hermes is Zoidberg

2 Fry X Amy = Fry is WashBkt, Amy is Amy

3 Fry X WashBkt = Fry is Emperor, WashBkt is WashBkt

4 Fry X Emperor = Fry is Bender, Emperor is Emperor

5 Fry X Bender = Fry is Professor, Bender is Bender

6 Fry X Professor = Fry is Leela, Professor is Professor

7 Zoidberg X Leela = Zoidberg is Hermes, Leela is Fry

8 Fry X Leela = Fry is Fry, Leela is Leela

9 Zoidberg X Hermes = Zoidberg is Zoidberg, Hermes is Hermes

  • The latest Doctor is a crazy old man in tweed...

  • I prefer infomusement

  • Is this goanna be on the test? Because math makes my thinker box hurt.

  • Am I just really high, or was that narrated by the guy from "The Streets"?

  • @MacCreamPrior Original Pirate Material

  • If I've understood the problem correctly, I can see it being done in 7 moves. I think there may be a smaller number of moves possible, but I'm not sure.

  • Singingbanana Can i ask if you are a youtube partner? :)

  • @orbslack Nope. I'm certainly not in this for the advertising money.

  • @singingbanana Wow I gotta say. Good for you. You are a good person. Thank you for the video (I have been watching most of your vids recently)

  • Ow.

  • That's kill my brain!!!!!

  • Is this from the new season?

  • dude, the professor would want to!! i mean, if ur old and about to die, go to a younger body and get even smarter, since you have more time to learn

  • math lover myself...everything about it ;)

  • Futurama and the Simpsons are full of scientists and mathematicians.

  • I knew you were gonna do this one as soon as it aired :P

  • SPOILER ALERT. Man I havn't seen this one yet...I think I would have flipped out and sent you a message about it, haha. Great video though!

  • @Error081688 Me too, except the sending me a message part. I would have just sent a message to my own brain. Fortunately more sensible people casually mentioned it to me first. Still pleased with the quick turnaround on this one.

  • "why would professor want to enter young student's body" did you really make that joke or is it just me?

  • @kid29a Shh! Some people didn't notice.

  • @singingbanana

    i noticed :D

  • I love futurama

  • My brain died. Awesome as always! :)

  • zomg! you're too smart :3 and confusing for me to comprehend you:P

  • Which episode was that?

  • @piginaphonebox The most recent one, season 6 episode 10

  • Oh I Get It....

  • I can do it in 0 moves; don't swap minds at all?

  • mY bRain juSt foRze >_>

  • I suppose this is the video where we truly find you are a singing banana. :-P

  • The switchoroo

  • This is amazing...

  • ...not only didmy mind explode but so did my lodgic of futurama

    XD

  • I get it it's kind of simple.

  • HAAAA!!!!!! I didn't get the "Leather Elbow Patch" joke until the second time 'round. nice!!! :^)

  • Im confused.

  • Ahh Futurama FTW.

SEE??? CARTOONS ARE TOO EDUCATIONAL, MOM AND DAD!!!!! XD

  • I bet there's something hidden like this in one of the episodes of the Wonder Pets too. That show is awesome.

  • @theboombody

LOL. A show for 3-year-olds introducing Group Theory? Fat chance. XD

  • @SaiyanKirby Winnie-The-Pooh was written by a math guy, so why not?

  • @SaiyanKirby its not for 3 years old its a sshow rated mature on comedy central. its like family guy

  • @thedemon51015

I wasn't talking about Futurama. Someone had mentioned a show on Nick JR called "Wonder Pets".

  • lol I haven't seen this episode yet, is this one of newer Futurama episode? :)

I wonder if this could also be solved using graph theory

  • wow, never thought futurama would be in HD

  • A mathematician is a main character in the first two Jurassic Park movies, and he even gets to survive direct contact with a T- Rex!

  • @DevilsClaw In the first novel he is even killed, in his first encounter with the T-rex, and comes back from the dead in the second novel! Mathematicians are real badasses.

  • @DevilsClaw

yeah. he even died in the book only to somehow return for the second. Proof that mathematicians cannot be killed.

  • nice :P

  • Hehe! Now I know why Futurama is my favorite show on Fox and loved by my parents too. I had no idea it used Math in that way. Literal use of FUNdamentals or whatever the term was for fun in education. Regardless, this is very fascinating.

  • @MarioMastar edutainment.

  • @singingbanana Ah, yes! that's the word! Looks like I'm envious in your Math AND literature skills! =D You're officially my idol.

  • @MarioMastar its not on fox. its on comedy central now. fox cancelled it remember??

  • @THExVIDxKID Ah, yeah! It's been awhile since I've seen it, but I do remember it's on Comedy Central now. Thanks for reminding me.

  • This episode was awesome...and I love how Professor couldn't figure it out lol

  • That is so cool!

  • amazing haha love futurama and bananas and singing therefore best video ever!!
