Hi I have a turtle I don't know the species but I was wondering what is a good age to feed my turtle a fish about his size? Right now he eats these turtle pellets and tripos and flakes.

@youdomoo depends, most younger turtles eat a more meat based diet of fish (preferably NOT goldfish), and small ones at that

as they grow older, some like sliders n cooters go for a more vegetable based diet

I raise these fish called triops and I "farm them" I guess you can say. And I like to feed em to my turtle! But the keep on reproducing so I never run out! Free food!

you should always throw the fish in and let the turtle get them on its own. They get huge, and many people dont keep them into adulthood and set them free or give them away. You'd want him to be able to take care of himself in the wild and know how to hunt if it ever came to it

I think it's a brazilian (or mexican?) red-ear turtle. it's one of the most common species of turtles.

Even though a lot of people recommend it, turtles are not supposed to eat just pellets. they need meat and greens too.

your turtle is fat because you don't let him hunt down the fish. hunting gives them exercise.

dude the only way to capture it eating the fish so clearly on camera was to hold the fish for it...otherwise yes it has to hunt by itself. It's fat cuz it eats so frikin much

apparently it's something to do with counting the contours on the polygons of the shell..its kinda like a ring in a ring in a ring ina ring..if you get what I mean. each ring is approx. 1 year.
