  • Achievement unlocked: Do a backflip

  • He must get a contract in redbull

  • Did anyone tell him that he is a Racing driver not a pilot?

  • So baby, wanna go air born? lmfao ^_^

  • Takin flight

  • He was drafting behind the first car thats why when he got out there was a sudden flow of air causing him to flung

  • I just clicked on a random part of the video without looking and saw the car flip and I was like, "NO FUCKING WAY".

    This crash is unreal

  • clearly put redbull into the engine instead of fuel

  • One of my favorite Porsches :(

  • Dad's gonna be sooo pissed!

  • that would have been the most badass flip ever if he would have landed that

  • Maybe He should of Applied at the Airshow instead of Le Mans.

  • D. N. F.

  • Video should be renamed : Nice Porsche Backflip

  • ça pique.

  • this AMLMS not Le Mans

  • He was just trying to OVERtake...

  • he was literally flying!

  • i believe i can fly

  • only if hed landed it :( aha

  • One word: Air Dam!

  • @arklat those are two words

  • aerodynamic's failure? xD looked like the car from the front channelled air to the bottom of a car and made it fly

  • It's not a race in Le Mans. It was in 1998 in the "Petite Lemans Series" at Road Atlanta. One year later Mercedes tried to fly three times during Le Mans 24h (2x Webber, 1x Dumbreck). It was the end of the Mercedes Engagement in Le Mans.

  • car flying in le mans racing is not alowed

  • porsche 911 gt1

  • How the hell could this happen?

  • @PaveLow1000 He was drafting the other vehicle so he wasn't getting enough downforce so the vehicle lifted off. Happened very often back in the early days of racing before they realized the importance of downforce.

  • Reminds me of Back To The Future.

  • someone likes using the flying car cheat!!! ahahah

  • Imagine what his underpants looked like. :-)

  • flaps up, and take off.

  • /watch?v=Ow3rxq7U1mA&feature=related

    thats a backflip

  • FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEE

  • *Snotty Voice* 6.7 out of 10. The takeoff was quite excellent, and I respect his enthusiasm and ambition with the well executed backflip, but the landing was ANYTHING but precise...

  • @trainboy1094 I'd give him additional points for landing in a wheelie.

  • downforce fail

  • Slight aerodynamic problem there!

  • @SvenTviking Just a tiny one lol

  • Was this Webber?xDDDDDDD

  • @8master8of8desaster8

Nah, Yannick Dalmas. French bloke who did make it to F1 in the late 80s early 90s.

  • this is GT5 online.

  • Stewards and Stewerdesses prapare for takeoff.

  • He could make a exelent pilot... He can make it take of and land again...

  • Just like what happened to Mark Webber in 1999.

  • Le Mans Series: Where Cars can fligh!!

  • Similar crash happened to the Ti22 car at a Canadian round of the 1970 CanAm race at Le Circuit in Mt. Tremblant. Coming over a rise the Ti22 did exactly the same: the car flipped over because the air got underneath the new aerodynamic design and over it went. Driver Jackie Oliver also escaped the crash unharmed.

  • what is that third car there?? looks like mini.

  • @Wisaf45 Porsche ;)

  • @Wisaf45 porsche 993 i guess

  • @TheKnoppersVidz

Porsche 911 GT1 (the second generation)

    Driver: Yanick Dalmas

Track, no f** LeMans , its Road America !!

Whats more its not Le Mans Series its Petit Le Mans !

  • @adakar83 i know the track is not le mans

and the car behind the one who crashed was a Porsche 911 (Type 993) GT2.

the same model would appear later in the Fia GT as a GT car.

  • The dude lucky to be alive.

  • chuck norris would've landed it...

  • looks like it was taking off...crazy.

  • What year was this?

  • This is coz the car was already off the ground because of the little bump and + the high acceleration, the front wheels couldnt keep up and it did a overpowered wheelie

  • @TheOneFromMW2 He wasn't getting enough down-force at the front end because of the car in front.

  • thats without a doubt not le mans... maybe road america?

  • this is road atlanta. not La Sarthe.

  • Comment removed

  • ...how..did..that..happen? too much FR power..?

  • @TheOneFromMW2 i wanna knw tooo

  • bmw team bould a airplain

  • the cause was the car in front removing all air from passing over the front splitter, stopping all downforce at the front and underneath the car. This combined with the angle of the hill meant that the force of the rear wing was enough to make the front of the car lift up, and as seen with catamaran (formula 1 powerboat) crashes it is a cummulative unstoppable effect. Once it gets past a certain point there is absolutely nothing you can do about it

  • this is Road Atlanta... not LeMans !!

  • @ProfessorIgor But it was a LeMans race.

  • That was a Porsche

  • Should land it.

  • C'est Mark Webber ?

  • @76scuderia No, Webber's crash was not this bad, and he landed on his roof. (Sorry, I don't speak French).

  • this happened to me in Racedriver GRID and continued driving ^^

it was awesome I think it boosted me alot xD

    watch?v=h7ekVr1DT4c

  • 0:17

    beautiful Ferrari 333sp

  • lol what are we listening for?

  • @DBDMotorsports lol i know what was he talking about??? maybe when it bounced of the rev limiter?!?!???

  • He's dead?? I hope not...

  • shit his ass got torr up, good luck with that buddy and dont you just love aerodynamics

  • aerodynamics sweet!

  • Backflip loool

  • someone needs to add the "whoop!" cartoon sound when he flips and the "Bonk!" when he lands! lol

  • "Road Atlanta GT1 Race Track" ;-)

  • Now that's bad aerodynamics! I am assuming the car in front was part of the cause. It could be that the particular aerodynamics of the car left a bad trail of turbulence to make that happen. That's my 2 cents...

  • @Jonno2summit

That seems likely, the slipstream would have disrupted the down force over the crest of the hill allowing the car to lift off.

  • @ReverandCiderMan I hadn't thought about the hill. You are so right. I watched it again and noticed the suspension compressing as they hit the rise. As the suspension rebounds it's just a continuous motion leading right into the nose lifting.

  • wings should make downforce, but in this case they made upforce like plane wing :D

  • @piuthemagicman No, the wing was not producing enough downforce. The aerodynamic body, because of the lack of downforce now acts like a wing, forcing the car up.

  • I'm so dumb

  • Why the car was flying o.O

  • did he dieds?

  • Wow Hope Your Ok But i think it would have been cool if you landed. LMAO

  • it's not as bad as it looks.

  • If your gunna crash, might as well make it awesome

  • It WAS Le Mans guys. The Petit Le Mans. I live in Atlanta and went it it this year. Rained out and got called at about the 2/3 mark. That crash was on the local news last year. Lorenzo just assumed it was the Le Mans at Circuit de la Sarthe.

  • Comment removed

  • flying car :P

  • I know this has been pointed out but:

This is a Porsche GT1 at Road Atlanta in the USA.

    Just so that everyone knows.

  • How the shit the backflip...

It was in 1998, in Le Mans, the two Mercedes AMG had this problem because they were too much aerodynamics.

  • this is not a mercedes, its a porsche

  • That is Road Atlanta in USA not Le Mans....

  • if that happened in a computer game you would think it was over the top but in real life? yikes!

  • Damn that musta hurt

  • damn!! fly fly

  • What would cause this? Possible reduction of downforce from drafting the car in front or something?

  • I'd imagine when he came over the brow of the hill, and left the turbulence of the car infront, it instantly caused the massive lift.

As you can see, its perfectly timed at when the car crosses the brow of the hill :)

    Crazy!

  • I think because he was in the slipstream, he wouldn't have as much downforce as he would need in the position he was because of the vacuum behind the front car. Add that to the speed and angle of the hill.

He was just driving too close behind the car in front.

  • yes...

  • imagine if he landed it and kept going

  • hahha thats a damn funny comment doublexnchuck!!

  • @doublexnchuck ACTUALY IT WOUD HAVE BEEN WORST! BUT IT WOUD OF BEEN COOL

  • @doublexnchuck

impossible without damage, but funny idea.

  • @doublexnchuck that would be the best thing happened in Le mans :D

  • @doublexnchuck Lol I acctualy think that is possible! Gotta be helluva lucky tho.

  • @doublexnchuck I would go "What the Fuck?!" :D

  • @doublexnchuck lol, that's the funnies thing i heard, nice.

  • @doublexnchuck

christian fittipaldi did the backflip and then crossed the finishing line with a formula 1 car.

  • UOOO ! ! ! free style !

  • Very similar to the accident of the 99' Mercedes CLR-GT1. Now i get how difficult is to keep those beasts on the road O_O

  • too much air under vechile =D

  • LOL

  • oloco! o carro vuava e eles nem sabia disso!

  • exits the slipstream of the car in front and flips... lol unlucky mate

  • this ain't le mans

  • The car involved in this crash was a Porsche GT1-98.

    Ouch..

  • love these kinds of cars XD funny how the hood just flies off at any hint of stress

  • My mistake thats a Porsche 911 GT2 car not the Mercedes CLK-GTR but the same thing happen to Mercedes at Le Mans in 99 to Mark Webber, actually it happen twice the car went over a small hill and flipped upside down and went airborne. This race is Road Atlanta not Le Mans - Again sorry for my previous comment

  • I saw it happen 3 times.

    - Webber

    - this one

    - Dumbreck (/watch?v=teTYm61oPVo&feature=related)

  • TWAT!

  • and this is why Mercedes no longer races in Le Mans, or really no where besides F1

  • actually mercedes also races in the DTM championship against the audi

  • would have been awesome if he landed it after the backflip and kept on driving.

  • haha that would have been cool

  • that would destroy the suspension

  • he still be able to get to the pit

  • @ozzinaus funny cunt

  • i wish they had this in car view

  • he likes to fly it seems

  • He forgot to do a barrel roll.

  • If removal of some air, thus decreasing downforce and then going over a small top can not only decrease grip but produce lift, then I wonder how much front downforce these cars actually produce in clean air!?!

You should think its not enormous forces!?

Maybe its also the danger of relying of too much of the downforce, to be created by a small gap to the ground!

The car in front takes some air, and at the top the rideheight increaces...and then you have an aeroplane!

  • why did the car fly?????

  • it got too high and air went under it which made it fly.

  • thats not finishing the last 20 odd hours

  • How sis it happen?

  • start: 10 points

    flight: 10 ponits

    landing: zer0000000000!!!!

  • He shoulda' stuck the landing.

  • Backfliiiip.

  • nice first flying car?!

  • there's been a lot more... maybe they could start up an airline company :p

  • no trohe polcial no

  • had to have been a combination of aerolift from both the car in front of him and the crest where it finally lost all of its' downforce

  • Well this isnt LeMans, its road atlanta. . .and the problem was that coming over the crest the nose of the car went up becasue he had no downforce upfront from following the other car. No the first time it happens there at road atlanta

  • oooppppssss!!!!!

  • he was going too slow for take off so he stalled

  • Wow....howd you guys get the tape of me playing GRID? lol

  • LOL!

  • ce n'est pas au mans mais aux USA!!

  • anyone know the actual design flaw? too flat of a nose or what?

  • No flaw as far as I know.

I aint no pro but think its just airflow.

These cars are designed to stick to the road by design with airflow in mind.

He got too close to that other car so airflow got messed up and no longer got sucked to the road.

But if someone knows better go ahead correct me.

  • yeah u r right.

  • looks like air built up from being behind the car and going over that little hill on the course.

  • Is that a Ferrari f333 going past at 0:16??

  • yes it is

  • 10 for the flip, 9 for the landing(would have gave it less but i like the sparks and stuff

  • 10/10 for the flip

  • Am I the only one amazed by the commentators lack of surprise or reaction at all to this frankly amazing sight?

  • no you are not

  • it's because it's a fucking recap.

  • woulda been sick if he landed it

  • 9 for the flip, 6 for landing

  • These cars look great, especially during flight.

  • DIO CAN??!??!???? O:O0 SEC....

  • bloody hell!!!!

  • why didnt he just open the door and jump out?
