  • I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of CBS News' CBS Evening News With Dan Rather Video Close From Wednesday Evening, December 24, 1986.

  • yea well that long credit roll disappeared in the late 90's when g.e. stepped-up it's campaign to push out all unions at the net.

  • NBC News had a similar tradition in the 1980s. It was a long "credit roll" containing just about everyone who worked for the news division around the world. It ran at the end of "NBC Nightly News" on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. (This calls to mind another NBC News tradition from the era -- on Christmas Eve "Nightly News" used to run a graphic showing the closing prices of gold, frankincense and myrhh in tribute to the traditional gifts of the Three Wise Men.)

  • That's the truth! The Tiffany Network used to have a very vast organization with actual physical offices in almost every country around the world, all staffed with local people and journalists, all paid by CBS. They produced these annual Christmas Cards for years.

Today, they're all gone. It's pitiful.

  • Man, CBS News sure had lots of bureaus around the world back in the day! Too bad they didn't establish any in Toronto, Sydney, or Moscow.

  • CBS had a Moscow bureau at one point.
