  • why is c-gear rnging better than standard rnging?

  • @DeathEaterLink It's not. It's pretty much for Dream World purposes these days.

  • @bearsfan092drums hey can you help me? my version of rng reporter is different I think because I cannot find where to put my mac address

  • Hey bearsfan I can't find any videos or info on Rng manipulating Trainer Id for gen 5. Could you possibly help me out with that or send me to a site with info on it?

  • @TheRealPuchie Personally I can't help you, but if you go on Smogon's homepage, under In Game Mechanics and RNG Mechanics, there's an article on abusing your ID's for the fifth generation.

  • @bearsfan092drums Much appreciated. :) I'm glad you really help out the little people.

  • @bearsfan092drums Ok I got it. I also wanted to know when you catch a Pokemon that you rng that you want specific IVs for it, do you have to catch that Pokemon in a hurry or can take your time during the battle instead of using a Masterball on it?

  • @StrikingSword4985 Take your time. The Pokemon's stats are generated pre-battle.

  • @bearsfan092drums could you perhaps post the AR Code for the IV Checker you were using?

  • @StrikingSword4985 All the cheats I use originate from gbatemp's usrcheat.dat file. You might need r4cce to open it.

  • Can you RNG abuse using emulators, specifically no$gba?

  • @svkt28 You can do it, but it's not fun. The save state advantage is useful though.

  • @bearsfan092drums Why not? Also, I think no$gba has no save state function. Only desmume.

  • @svkt28 It's just that to manipulate the time, you have to change your computer's system clock. That's annoying in its own right, but if you think about it, it makes it pretty difficult to use EonTimer/ZomgTimer properly, as you can't start the timer as you set the clock (well, barring running two computers at once but I mean come on...)

  • @bearsfan092drums I think you can just set the system clock minutes/seconds before the appointed start time then start the timer when that time comes. Also no$zoomer for no$gba has a time function where you can fixed the ds time on specific year, month, day, hour, minute, and second. So is this plausible?

  • @svkt28 Yeah, that sounds like it's doable. Go ahead and do it if you'd like.

  • I have a question. I am using version 9.92 of RNG Reporter, do I have to continuously input my MAC address everytime I try to do a search for a different pokemon?

  • @rprusty86 You only have to do it once. RNG Reporter remembers the last used MAC address when you open RNG Reporter again. :)

  • @dreadcooler Damn because I found out that I can't RNG on my DSi. When I go to search in my DS Lite nothing happens. No seed is found and I have been trying for the last 7 hours -__-. If you know anything that could help man I am all ears :)

  • @rprusty86 You can now RNG on the DSi using standard method. This video is pretty much obsolete save for Dream World, and even then, this video isn't that helpful

  • @bearsfan092drums Thanks, I was trying everything with my DSi, got the seed and everything, but when I load the game and all I get the right nature but not the IV's. My Frame is 1 so that means I should have one pokemon in my party right? Do I still have to take the 128 steps?

  • @rprusty86 Well, first, the DSi is now standard abuseable, so I'd avoid the C Gear if you can. Second, you don't need to take any steps if your frame is 1.

  • where do you get action replay from and how do you use it?

  • @jessyjakepickering I bought the action replay. I won't tell you how to use it, but you don't need an Action Replay outside of making certain things like checking IV's faster

  • can you find a mac address for a dsi?

  • @pokemonnerd996 I'd think you'd be able to, but I don't own one.

  • what version of rng reporter is this? when i try to find the feild that asks for your mac address, it doesnt show it. im using 9.81 and 9.75. help me please

  • @yondaime57 If you go under Seed to Time after getting a seed, you should be able to input your MAC.

  • WTH is RNG Abuse?

  • If your test pokemon has IVs let's say 3/6/1/2/4/5 and the RNG reporter finds a seed with IVs 3,6,1,2,4,5, 6,7,8,9, does that mean you're getting closer to hitting the target seed, or is it always like that?

Also, is the C-Gear considered switched on after you hit the "Yes" or after the "do not turn C-gear on in an airplane" warning?

    Thanks!

  • @jzm3 If you hit the IV's like you described, you DID hit your seed, silly.

And as far as your second question, it's when you hit "Yes".

  • @bearsfan092drums lol thanks a lot then! ^^

  • helpful video, although clarity could improve... quite tricky converting to PPRNG... unless I am mistaken it runs a little differently... anyone got any advice?

  • What do you mean by A synchronizer pokemon ?

  • @ThePokemonmaster33 A pokemon with the ability "Synchronize" that has the desired nature for your target.

  • This is all too confusing as hell. I'm no programmer, I don't get any of this crap. Ugh. Frustrating!

  • @Bribrikibblesnbits I feel kind of stupid replying to a month-old comment, but who said anything about being a programmer? There's absolutely no thinking involved, you just have to be good at following directions. I don't know shit about programming but I do know how to do what I'm told. You're just thinking too hard.

  • Does this work for DSi?

  • @bearsfan092drums Another question, if my frame I want is 3 I don't need to advance anything?

  • @ImMrKickYourAss Eh... if you're using the latest RNGreporter you do need to. Back when I filmed it it started on 3 essentially, but OmegaDonut adjusted it so that the first frame displays as 1, so you need to advance by two.

  • does this work for dw pokes?

  • @halanova It does with some caveats. You should look up a guide, and I will probably never make a DW video. The basic procedure is there though.

  • When do you walk the 128 steps with 3 pokemon to advance the frame?...... I get the right nature but the IV's are shot to hell. I dont advance frames though by walking because it isn't shown. Is This the problem?

  • @gulleyc2 You walk exactly where I cut the video and indicated it. In other words, after you hit your seed but before the encounter.

  • can you explain me how? does it have the same parametres as for ds? without emulator i mean of courde.

  • can you explain me how? does it have the same parametres as for ds?

  • @Annodam1992 Technically yes, but you pretty much need an emulator. Realistically, you can forget about it.

  • does it work for dsi?

  • @92pokemaniac Yes

  • Hey, I've been trying to RNG following your guide. I hit my target seed, but the IVs were screwy. :/

Am I supposed to keep trying to get this seed or did I do something wrong?

Also, you mentioned i only need my last 6 numbers in my Mac address? I actually input all twelve, when i tried. When i used 6 digits, the seeds generated weren't any different, so I'm just curious as to what I should do. Any help would be REALLY great, thanks~

  • @Kiteazuresea I believe you only need the last 6, but you won't be hurt if you input the entire thing. Also, how do you know you hit your seed? Perhaps you missed the frame.

  • @bearsfan092drums

I check the IVs every time and I search for them after each try, just to see if i need to recalibrate the Eontimer. It shows the right delay, anyway. I checked again, and I DID hit the right seed, but thats the problem, the IVs in the seed aren't what I'm looking for. The MIDDLE 6 IVs of the 10 IVs for that seed are the good ones. I'm getting the first 6 IVs. Actually, I'm just confused about that.

  • @bearsfan092drums

Ran out of space. Anyway, I key in the IVs I want, but RNG reporter gives me seeds that have the IVs in the 'middle' of the 10 IVs in that seed. But im consistently getting only the first six IVs.

Is that normal, or is there something I'm missing?

  • @Kiteazuresea Oh I know why that is lol. OmegaDonut changed it so you don't have to the frame 3 adjustment anymore. Just search from frame 1.

  • @bearsfan092drums Oh wow you understood my ramblings. Thats a first. Thanks dude, will try it now :3

  • um hi i have rng version 9.81 and it has min and max frames and you honly have a min frame so im confused please help or message me

  • @pokabu719 Um... set a maximum frame? I don't really know how you need help with that stage.

  • hey, earlier in this vid you picked frame 3 and said that you had to walk 128 steps with 3 pokemon. i didn't see you walk the 128 steps. im assuming you didnt show yourself walking 128 steps to save time but you did walk 128 steps with 3 pokemon in your party right?

  • @Lincolnlogpoo I did. I was kinda running long on time as it was.

  • Great guide! Didn't have a clue what RNG was but 2 hours later I had the IVs I wanted ^^

  • For me there is not DS mac address box.

  • @RoieTRS You mean in your RNGreporter? In the newer versions, it's in the time finder. Once you have your seed it's pretty irrelevant to have your MAC address in the main screen, which is probably why OmegaDonut took it out.

  • Stupid question: Is there a way to just find your delay equilibration (i.e instead of -95)?

  • @neerdy5 Yeah, pretty easily lol. You can do what I just did, which is the stupid way. The better way is to use EonTimer's "Update" function. Pick a target seed and load up the adjacents in RNGreporter like I did in the video. Try to hit the seed a few times. You'll probably be off by a somewhat consistent amount. Input the delay you were hitting into EonTimer's "Delay Hit" field and hit update. This will automatically change the -95 to whatever is appropriate for you.

  • @bearsfan092drums That's what I thought, thanks :p

  • Hey,bearsfan is it okay if i make a video reaspons? with my problems and how do you make a shiny pokemonand stuff as for eon timerdo we put the seconds shown on the first box or the second boxs as well as target seconds, thank you :)

  • @MrPokeman42 Dear god, please punctuate. Anyways, you can send me a video, but I accept no video responses. As for getting Shiny Pokemon, it can't be done with the C Gear. As for EonTimer, the seconds goes in the third box.

  • Hahaha im watching this on 5/28/11 lol

Thanks for the guide will tell you if it works

  • thumbs up if you saw his script on word :P anyway awesome i was told this by a friend

  • @SPRnurd Lol, I did this with another video except in notepad. I always do the script though as I try to make things go smoothly (and fail miserably at times)

  • @bearsfan092drums yea, stutering is my greatest fear on youtube 0.o

  • is it still possible to RNG runners like landorus or torandus? and is it easier or harder?

  • what methods can u use on dsi?

  • @whitericeepic Pretty much only this one for now.

  • @bearsfan092drums Sorry to bother you but I sent you a message about my problem using this method. I apologize in advance if you don't respond to them and for the questions. I didn't want to flood the page with my questions on the matter.

  • Hey,I'm new to RNG okay so every time I put in my Seed nuber to the little blank thing that says Seed(Hex) what does it mean or how to fi find my Seed(Hex) thank you:)

  • @MrPokeman42 Um... okay. The seed is the starting point of the RNG. You find your target seed in the time finder.

  • hey so can anybody give me some advice on how to rng with roms or what to do to find someone who can rng for me(in return for ev training stuff for them, providing pokemon to rng breed, etc.)

  • Is this a way of timing how to get a 'perfect' pokemon or is it cheating?

  • @athiaries All depends on your definition of cheating. If having the game generate results within its own rules is cheating, then yes, this is cheating. I do not debate the ethics of RNG abuse. The only thing I will say is the data generated by the game is completely within legal limits and is free of any external injection of data

  • @bearsfan092drums I don't considered that cheating. I just wanted to make sure. It is basically like predicting the weather lol.

  • wait wait, do you mean save [before] the catch attempt? and then over and over?

  • @Rhymeyyy Why are you saving repeatedly for C Gear abuse?

  • @bearsfan092drums no, a the end you said something about saving for nature and i got confused.

  • Also, how would you treat an egg with c-gear abuse? roaming? stationary?..

  • @zserv Most people have used "Gift Pokemon" with success.

  • @zserv I'm not well versed in breeding yet, but I believe you can use "Gift Pokemon"

  • @bearsfan092drums so I still hit c-gear power at the second timer, then just grab my egg? that's it? no specific timing for it? this crap is straight up irritating on a 3ds..

  • @zserv Pretty much, except you can kiss the prospect of controlling the nature and ability directly goodbye.

  • you sound EXACTLY like Aaron Dismuke.

  • @zserv Uh... who?

  • @bearsfan092drums Voice actor. :p

  • If you were to make a guide for Entralink RNGing, you'd be a god. O_O

  • Hi, I've finally to some extent understood the RNG abuse thank you. I am also wondering. Is this IV Check for the Dsi AR? Because I can not find a code for the Check. If you could direct me to where I can gain one that would be great. If not Thank you for your time! Wonderful Video

  • @BlackxBledxRose I get all my cheats from a usrcheat.dat file and extracting the cheats using R4CCE.

  • @bearsfan092drums Ah, thank you.

  • If you need to advance frames, do you advance it before you encounter the Pokemon or after you encounter the Pokemon? If my target frame is 4, and I encounter and capture the Pokemon, and check that it's the right seed. But then would the battle process have advanced the frames past my target frame of 4? According to the Smogon guide, battle encounters advances the frames at about 120 per second. Thanks for your time.

  • @thexcneo Advance before of course. Don't use battles to advance your frame unless you're running an emulator.

  • @bearsfan092drums Thank you very much; managed to successfully hit the right seed four times out of about 35 tries thanks to your video guide. The most helpful part was using the EonTimer- something the Smogon guide doesn't cover unfortunately for the timing is so crucial.

  • Sorry another question, the seeds are always in the area you saved last right? Or does a wild encounter anywhere work?

  • @LordofCruxis Your questions don't make any sense to me. What do you mean with seeds and saving?

  • @bearsfan092drums Once you find your delay, you're good to go, or do you have to go through this process if say, you decide to look for a different IV spread?

  • @LordofCruxis You are saving at the area you want because while the seed stays the same, your frame will change if you move around and try to go to a different location. When the frame changes, your IV spread won't be the one you want if you have a target frame planned.

  • Does this work for wild pokemon, I have yet to catch a flawless or near flawless wild, and I'm out of stationary ones

  • @LordofCruxis There's a reason why the title says Legend/Wild. However, don't get too annoyed when you find you have very limited direct control over the nature/ability/species. C Gear sucks that way.

  • @bearsfan092drums If you're going for a flawless wild, should you sweet scent or run around?

  • @LordofCruxis If you run around, you risk advancing the IV frame unexpectedly. Sweet scent always.

  • I have another quick question. What Action Replay model are you using? I have the DSi one, but it doesn't let me soft reset with the IV checking code still activated. I'm guessing the one you're using with the load button is better for IV checking.

    -Zane

  • I've got a newer version of RNG Reporter than this, and Smogon says that the fact that your initial frame is 3 is now accounted for. Do you know if this is true or not?

  • @Kayleots This is true.

  • Um, Im stuck on the MAx Frame thing at the beggining (-_-'), where Mine says min/max Frame.

    Any help?

  • @CtlAltWin Your version of RNGreporter is newer and better. It's simple. Set the lowest frame you want to aim for. Set the highest frame you want to aim for.

  • Do u know the AR code to check IVs on both black or White?

  • @Yvern22 Check projectpokemon or download an up to date usrcheat.dat file and open it up with the R4CCE program (my preferred method). With that you can browse the codes withing the file and get the ones you need.

  • Hi dude is it posible you could make a video on how rng some eggs using c-gear seeds i'm totally lost i was able to rng on 4th gen but know i'm totaly lost, i only have a dsi so i can't use a standard seed....

  • @maurici0c0va I'm looking into everything, but it seems like RNGing on a DSi might be a real bitch.

  • *sigh* The day Mingot/OD cracks the DSi Standard seed will be a good, good day.

  • @neerdy5 Really, that DSi ware is tough hopefully they find a way to decipher it

  • How do i Rng eggs? using C-gear?

  • @Enraikou You can use either Standard or C Gear, but be warned that it's substantially easier on Standard.

  • Thanks dude helped me a lot i just have question is it posible to get shinny pokemon by breeding using my same seed i used to get my reshiram? i'm using a DSI

  • @maurici0c0va Shiny abuse is near impossible with the C Gear.

  • @bearsfan092drums So seems ill have to wait till resaerch makes posible use my DSI for no cgear seeds

  • @bearsfan092drums Also how do you add minutes to eon timer i have it on 0 minutewss before target

  • hi dude this is cool do u know if it is posibble to rng for an egg to be shinny i'm using a DSI

  • This is so damn cool!

I want to try this myself, but I'd rather not screw with the dates in my White Version. Is there a way to do this on Platinum?

  • @CDxTWal RNG abuse? Yeah. This kind of RNG abuse, no. I've got videos for DPPt, so watch those.

  • @bearsfan092drums Just checked em out... very interesting stuff. The best part is it doesn't seem terribly difficult to pull off either. I'm definitely going to need to try this, thanks for the videos!

By the way, any chance you're still distributing that Heatran? ;-)

  • @CDxTWal Lol, like I trade.

  • Thanks for making this video, it helped a lot.

Got my Zekrom today, 31/31/31/31/29/31 :D

  • I'm using RNG Reporter 9, and when I use the option "Seed to Time" appears "delays" "seconds" and "frame" . I set 999 in delays (both), 9 in seconds, but I don't know what I have to set in "frame" (Min and Max) can you help me please :s?

  • On topic: I've been really struggling with this, spent 45mins on it, managed to get 1ms off twice, and under 3ms about 6 times, but just can't hit that magic seed :S

Incidentally, my RNG finder isn't coming up with a seed for flawless stationary legendary. Does it exist? Is it based on MAC code?

@AIIphA 1 and 1 have reliably worked for me.

  • @DaRRoXX It might not be possible on your MAC. You might need to widen your search criteria.

  • @bearsfan092drums Found one on frame 65. Spent a few days trying to hit it. Succesfully got 1ms off a total of 12 times now. No hits.

Incidentally, if I turn my DS on at the same time, move the same number of steps, and leave the C-Gear on for the same amount of time before turning it off, will the pokemon I catch have the same nature? And if so, could this be used as a reasonable way of 'controlling' nature, with time and luck?

  • i have question when i start the timer what do i have to do and when first timer hits zero what to (i am using a flash card)

  • How do I get RNG Reporter? whenever I open it, it says

"Party's over. Go download the real thing."

  • @sKribblenaut OmegaDonut released that version of RNGreporter as an April Fools joke. It has fake ads and only works on April 1st. Set your computer clock back to then and it will work. OD will release the real version soon. He just had some shit come up

  • @bearsfan092drums I know, I heard about that, but then I tried it and it didn't work.

  • Well then wait for the release. It should be out soon. Sorry!

  • Yeah...probably. :P I'm still studying it, though. xD Thanks! :) That'll help me very much. I think I'll start it again.

  • Hi bearsfan, thanks for this, I kinda understand RNGing already, but I have a few questions if you don't mind;

Do you need to know your SID when you are doing IVs? [Just to make sure]

Can I just use hard-resetting (turning off the game and start from the DS menu) or is soft-resetting required?

What does it mean when it says that no match was found for the IVs? Is it because I'm wrong on the calibration?

    Thanks again! :)

  • @youpods I think you might want to re-evaluate your understanding of the RNG :P

    1. No, only affects PIDRNG shininess, which you can't really control with this method.

    2. Yes, just make sure you do this when calibrating and stay consistent.

    3. It means that either you've advanced the IV frame to the point where RNGreporter can't find it, or you aren't hitting your seed. Make sure you follow the instructions listed in EonTimer or ZomgTImer.

  • Soft-resetting is much easier than this!

  • @odesti It may be "easier", but if you want to get the flawless Pokemon, it's better to invest the 40 minutes to first learn and set up stuff and 15 minutes per pokemon after.

  • Okay, this is the first RNG I will have done yet, but I have a question on frame advancing:

C-Gear seed starts at frame 3.

    My target frame is 7

    So do I:

So I walk with 4 Pokemon in the party for 128 steps THEN activate C-Gear

or do I activate C-Gear once the EonTimer hits 0, then walk 128 steps?

Thanks in advance and these videos are very helpful even for casual players like me. =)

  • @TESvideos The second one.

  • what about shinies?

  • @steorer Nigh impossible with this method. You'll need PIDRNG manipulation to do that, and that requires Standard Abuse. I just uploaded the videos now, so go ahead. It's not explicitly stated how to get them, but it would take an idiot not to check the "shiny" box in RNGreporter.

  • can you post a download link for the RNG reporter?

  • Canon S5 IS!!

  • Also, would this be the same for wild pokemon?

  • @drygdtg See title.

  • So if your frame is 3, you don't have to advance it at all? o_o

  • @drygdtg Nope, none at all.

  • Thank you so much bearsfan! I've always loved your videos and you really helped me out with the HGSS RNG. I have a question. Does this take into account to the roamers too, like Tornadus?

  • @TheGreySong It essentially does, but you'll probably kill yourself in frustration due to the zero control you have over natures.

  • Oh yeah thanks for this video. It helped me tons. :)

  • I always envisioned you as white kid with brown curly hair that goes to high school lol. At least I got one part right.

  • I know you're using Windows but is there a Mac version of the RNG Reporter? Mono will quit immediately when I hit generate in the time finder. :\ Thanks.

  • @ThisChannelisUseless No, there isn't. However, Chiizu is developing a Mac equivalent, so keep your eyes posted on that. I will not be making a video tutorial with that as I don't own a Mac.

  • @ThisChannelisUseless There isn't, but Chiizu is developing his own RNG calculator for Mac. Check the Smogon forums.

  • @bearsfan092drums Thanks, I felt retarded after realizing to ask smogon though lol.

  • FINALLY. I've been reading the forums over and over and over, and I never quite got it...mainly because all I ever did in Gen 4 was hatch one shiny, and that alone took me a while to understand. I certainly appreciate everything they did on the forums, but the instructions weren't too friendly for those new to the method. After watching this, I completely get it. Can't wait to give it a try tomorrow!
