I still remember with great joy going to the London Palladium for the Ted Heath charity concerts; Dicky Valentine, Lita Rosa and Dennis Lotis...wonderful band and wonderful memories
Great music by a great swinging band. Actually saw the Ted Heath band play this number at the Embassy Welling in 1953. Ted Heath was the main attraction that evening with the warm up group being the Johnny Dankworth Seven i.e. no John Dankworth in those days!
Great song, Inspector Barnaby played this on an episode and does a little dance to it. Had to find the song, it's very classy and opened a whole genre of music to me.
Always reminds me of John Peel who played it on his radio show ago followed by the lines "... I bet you knew it was going to do that" after the snap ending.
Brings back wonderful memories. Sundays at the London Palladium. Dances where nobody danced because (as already said) the music demanded our attention.
Fantastic musicians, great sound, all lost to us far too early. Thank goodness for the recordings - to Youtube and you guys who make them available to us.
thanks so much for posting this. I played it for my Mum thismorning and she hasn't heard this arrangement for about 40 years, She had the 78 as a teenager!!
I remember hearing this played by Ted Heath at the Blackpool Winter Gardens ballroom, Skin Deep with Ronnie Verrell on drums was another one at the time, when these were played dancing just stopped as we all gathered around the band stand, just like the young ones today held captive by the music and seeing our idols up there performing for us, so whats new?. It was wonderful to be young
