  • You voice reminds me of Steve Blum's. :D

  • One day I dream of someone recreating these games in a full 3d game like elderscrols oblivion engine

  • Only the very first sierra game were the best and still are. Leasuire suit Larry 1 to 3, space quest 1 to 3, kings quest 1 to 4, heroes quest 1 and 2 only

  • I used one of the three wishes you get in Quest for Glory 2 to get points in Magic there. :-)

  • "And the thief just holds a cape over his face. That's his only skill" ROFL

  • "And the thief just holds a cape over his face. That's his only skill" ROFL

  • Thank you for well done videos, i really like that you read the texts because it gives time to everybody to read and understand the story and you can feel like if you were playing. Thank you!!!!

  • You're thorough, informative, and best of all, funny;

"Reap the fruits of his loins... *awkward silence*"

"And the thief just holds a cape over his face. That's his only ability."

"If I don't have every ability, i'll have to go curl up in a corner and cry myself to sleep for a few hours"

Definitely going to watch through these and subscribe.

  • Great LP time to subscribe to LateBlt

  • Scor PEON!!

  • @echolake85

I'm back at this video again, to use it as an example on a forum about how to be thorough in LPs, and I just turned the captions on.

Google says he's saying, "Score Pee On."

  • cant you just press + on the keypad

  • I watch these all the time.

  • Nothing like some good old dos games; dare I say abandonware

  • You have a good sheriff's voice.

  • that stats trick is neat. back in the day I just started without magic, but in QFG2, you can wish for magic at some point, after defeating the elementals I think.

  • "...reap the fruit of your loins..." Yeah Im definately going to watch this now :)

  • IHAVENT PLAYED THIS GAME IN OVER 15 YEARS!!!! how did ya get it to work I tried so many things...T.T *sigh* memories....

  • Reap that loin fruit!!

  • Wow, nice trick with the + key. I was always the thief since he was the only one that could have all attributes in the beginning. Now I find out I could have been anyone. Makes me want to go out and relive some old days of being 10. Thanks for posting

  • I have the original of this game, which was Hero's quest, but then when my brother wanted to get all of the games for Quest For Glory. He had gotten the first four games on one disc, Sort of anniversary collection I believe, then he got the fifth later on. Just recently last Christmas I believe it was, my brother gave me all of his Quest For Glory games for Christmas, which I liked, because I have always loved these games, but I'm looking forward to seeing your walkthroughs of this.

  • This was one if not my all time favorite game, please PLEase tell me how to downoad on windows using vista. Many thx! I look forward to watching you play this classic gem! Piece (=P)

  • I can't get enough of these LPs. I wish they made like 30 QfG games. Also, this series got in my head so much I actually learned to do stuff with DoS Box and I'm borderline retarded.

  • Great videos indeed, all of the parts are greatly explained/done cheers for the LP mate! *Bid LateBlt a nice day!*

  • nice, thanks. The "trick" does not look like a bug at all. I think it is on purpose.

also I know that someone can complete the game without any stealth. I do not know if it can be completed without any magic or pick locks.

  • woww i remember playing this when i was 7

  • @c00lb0y10 aye so many memories ^^

  • Hey man great videos, i remember play all these in my granmdas basement on her old compaq p1!

  • just completed dragonfire, i finally got another copy, played it when i was about, played it so much i taught my self to read so i could read the text on screen, lol. never played123 ,,though

  • when i started i called myself shitface and when i said the name when he says good look in your quest _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ i laughed my head off

  • Probably the first video-game in which you can actually multi-class (if you spend the talent points correctly). Kinda wish WoW had more roleplaying objectives like this game does (for this game actually requires someone to think outside the combat box to actually beat it).

  • @Geno2733 exactly, was a way more interesting game.

  • I Loved this game!! I managed to get 509/500 points the one time, not sure if it was a bug or an extra cherry but I think i was a hero lol :)

  • If you are a thief you can give points to every 0...

  • I think I'm the only 90's kid who has played this game.

  • @kiljoy12345678 I've played this game too during the early 90's.

  • do you know where I can download this game?

  • "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness" LOL

  • Fruit of his loins? Wtf xD That's awesome.

  • Is it bad that I'm rewatching this LP for a third time? There's something so nice about the way these are done; its perfect for a rainy day like this. Grab some tea, snuggle up with a quilt...

  • @WhiteMageMentality I don't think it's bad, but then, I wouldn't... I'm flattered that you find them worth watching again. :)

  • @WhiteMageMentality I do the same thing. This, QfG2, and hercrabbiness' Laura Bow

  • @WhiteMageMentality

Same. I think this is my, what, fifth time on this?

Granted, I'm at work leveling up my Death Knight on warcraft right now, but still.

  • I think Homestarrunner made a parody game of this

It's called Pheasants Quest and it's pretty fun... if you watched Strong Bads email show otherwise you have no idea whats going on.

  • @cloud314231 TROGDOOOOOOOOOR!!

  • @Squiglypig trogdor was a man!

I mean he was a dragon man...

but he was more of a dragon....

    but he was still TROGDOOOOOOOOOOR!

  • Thank you for uploading LateBit.

  • I have the original game. On 3 1/2" floppies! My version is called Quest For Glory.

Back in the days BEFORE windows, there was dos. And this treasure was the very first adventure game I ever played. I've been hooked on adventure games ever since.

  • For those that don't understand DosBox or just don't want to be bothered with it you can play QFG 1-3 on Gametap with their "classic" membership. It's about $5 a mont and lets you play these games in your browser even on a 64-bit system. I've noticed a few bugs in QFGIII but none in the first two, they work fine. I have the "collection" on disc but can only get it working on dosbox, it won't work on my 64-bit Windows 7.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmm...loins.

  • Dang I was thinking Of LP'ing this game . well hope you don't mind I do the VGA version >>

By the way How did you get sound I tried dosbox and it didnt work for me

  • Please feel free; just because someone else has already LPed the game, that doesn't mean nobody else can.

The game works fine in DOSBox; if you're not getting any sound, it's probably either a DOSBox setting, or you need to run the game's INSTALL program.

  • DOS!

  • i have the remake of this and it has better and i mean way way way better graphics its epic and to you....

    DANCE WITH THE FARIES!!!!!

  • I've played the remake; the graphics in this version are much better. The remake has 256-color graphics so you can't see the transitions between pixels as clearly.

  • @KingKoodaz whoa there was a remake?! Do tell please ^^!

  • You can give all skills by choosing Thief and no cheating is required. ^^

  • @Preweck

    I always chose the thief.

  • A jack of all trades, but master of none. Not good.

  • I miss these games, I was so foolish not to keep these old games! I had the original copy too...oh well, should've kept on playing and maybe sell it on EBay~! :)

  • @feslenraster

ARE YOU NUTS?! I still have mine! I can't install it on my computer though... computers these days don't have an A drive.

  • Reap the fruits of his loins?!? BWahahahahahahaaaaa! Sorry. Couldn't resist. :D

  • I so enjoy your LPs. :)

You and hercrabbiness are the reason I finally got brave enough to do my own LP.

  • Well, actually Conquests of Camelot had that right click feature as well.

  • God, I need to find a copy of this. I miss this game...

  • Congratulations, you've discovered the first of over 9000 puns throughout the series.

  • i agrey i have playd oblivion too and it is a grate game i cant wate for the next one next year

  • you're right, but maybe you should cut back on the game playing and learn to spell.

  • Hahahahah!

  • Good One!

  • This was my favourite game at the time.

I just started with the theif in order to get all skills.

  • ...the fruits of his loins?

    Lol.

  • graphics remind me of the Genesis...

  • i wise they still made games ilke this. nowadays its all hacemslashem no real story

  • seriously but oblivion is pretty much the new quest for glory...

  • If you're a tool?

HQ/QFG was easily better. Oblivion is fun, but Morrowind and Oblivion are so incredibly broken in so many places that it isn't funny.

The best you can say for Oblivion is that it is on par with QFG4: Amusing, but way too buggy.

  • Of QG1--a lesson I learned the hard way was "Never listen to the haunted graveyard theme before going to bed."

  • great let's play ! and your commentary is entertaining, thx !!

  • Was that the Star Trek: TNG theme in the intro?

  • I wish I had your cool voice, my LP's I sound.. ahhh... non-serious.

  • So would you normally get a "jack of all trades" type character when you play through these games, or do you try to stick to one "class"? I never, ever put skill points into anything that a fighter, thief, or magic user couldn't do, but I think that might accurately place me in the "anal" category.

Plus, when I was 14 or so and playing these games, I did have enough time to run through them with each character class.

  • Just as in real life, I try to be able to do everything. I really wouldn't want to limit myself just because I decided "I only want to do things this way."

  • I think the real answer as to why I did that was that I wanted to get maximum usage out of the game, and run through it three times with the class-specific solutions. This may be why I never played sports.

  • id rather watch you do this quest for glory game than any1 else becuse u do voice commentary and you actlully explain it very well better than adv and classicletsplay

  • You can also start a decent all round character, by choosing a thief and add parry and magic points. I didn't know that one "cheat" though. That is pretty cool.

  • fruit of his loins. LMAO! XD

  • Why was the game renamed?

  • Never mind, I'm a moron.

  • Nah, it just helps to watch the video. ;)

  • Oi ... I played loads of Sierra/Westwood/Lucasarts point-and-click adventures when I was a kid, but somehow I've never heard of Hero's Quest (or Quest for Glory).

I did play Hero Quest though, which was also fun ... Not in the least because the box contained groovy plastic zombies. =0p

  • Oh well, there are lots of people who haven't played Freddy Pharkas either. :)

I played Hero Quest for about 37 seconds. It was fun, yah.

  • Yeah, Freddy Pharkas is one of those almost forgotten classics.

  • Since this game doesn't check on your class later during play, starting as a thief lets you get all the skills (with more points all around I think) as an alternative to this strategy. Just add Parry and Magic, and you're good to go.

By the way, ADGI's QfG2 VGA remake is finally in beta testing, for those interested.

  • You are correct. I just didn't do that because then you don't get a sword and shield. I suppose it doesn't particularly matter, since a fully-developed character can defeat any monster with just a dagger, but doesn't he look so much more... Heroic with the sword and shield?

FINALLY! It's about time! I've been waiting for years. Thanks!

  • I had a laugh when you said "fruits of his loins". However, I wasn't offended. haha I love the QFG series. THANKS LATEBLT!!!

  • You're very welcome, I'm glad you liked it! :D

  • razzledazzlerootbeer

  • ty for bringing back memories. wish they would make more point and click games again, they are grat fun. keep up the good work :)

  • Thanks. :) There's actually a whole fan-based community around point-and-click games. If you go to the homepage for Adventure Game Studio, you'll find a bunch of free games there (which of course vary wildly in quality, but that's part of the fun).

  • :) that's great hun, ty very much, i'll go take a look now.

  • This is such a great game. My father bought it back in 1990 when we got our first computer. As I was born in '86 and from Holland I didn't know english, but my father wrote down some of the basic commands of the game (run, look at, ask about, search body etc) and that's how I learned my English really. I loved this game, but it was difficult for a 5 year old. So a couple of years ago I installed the original game (EGA version) again and figured out what to do with Antwerp and Baba Yaga and so on.

  • Memories! Your message almost makes me want to play this game again even though I just finished this set of videos a few weeks ago. :D

  • I think I'll look up the box and install it again this weekend. What a great game! The only thing I don't like about the game are the 'no turning back' points. For example when you saved your game sitting on the barstool with a glass of Dragon's Breath in your hand.. Or when you just cut up the Spirea to take the seed. Then you were screwed! Thanks for making these great video's it brought back so many great memories! Cheers!

  • Brilliant. So much nostalgia. Thanks for posting.

  • These are great, I just found your channel. Did you post this on SA? I know its long, but a run through the rest of the series would be great. (not sure if you have that planned.)

  • Thanks for the compliment. :) I'm not a member of SA; never was. The LP name originated there, but since then it's broadened out into a more general community. I'm currently doing QFG2, but don't plan on doing the rest of the series.

  • I like the way you say "Scorpion."

Anyay, mind if I ask what "Lets Play" is?

I've seen it around on a lot of videos looking for a particular childhood memory, and really enjoy the commentary.

This is my very first video of yours; should I watch these in the orders of your having posted them?

  • "Skor-pee-awn" as opposed to "skor-pee-uhn"? I tend to emphasize the last syllable of long words for some reason I guess. Most people pronounce the last syllable of "ambulance" as "luns," and I've been mocked for pronouncing it "lans."

"Let's Play" is a fairly loose-knit community of people making documentaries of playing through a video game for others to watch. It has its roots in the Something Awful website, and was popularized by DeceasedCrab and his LP of the game "La Mulana."

  • I didn't know that about the "let's play" community. I did notice that people have been doing the same thing under the name "playthrough".

Also, "speedruns" usually show the game completed as quick as possible.

I was there. I witnessed the original :P

  • And, oh yes, I'm numbering and posting the videos in the order of playing, so although you can watch them in whatever order you like, it'll probably make the most sense if you watch them in the posted order. Thanks for watching!

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • QFG FTFW. I thought 4 was my favorite IMO.

  • 4 was excellent, but 2 always had a special place in my heart. I tend to like the desert for some strange reason. The whole series is basically a win, though.

  • I love this series for all the fantasy atmosphere, hero-ing and humor. An obvious play on words right at the beginning: Spielburg can be considered a reference to Spielberg, but it also literally translates as "game-town" or "play-town".

  • QFG always had a penchant for foreign wordplay (like the welcome sign at Erasmus' house which we'll hopefully see later in this LP). I didn't realize the pun on "Spielburg," but now that you mention it, I think I'll mention it in the next video. Thanks!

  • What the... You mean to tell me that after all this time I've been playing the game without ever using stealth, I could've just hit the plus and minus buttons to get all the skills!? I feel cheated!

  • I know! I HATE having to miss out on things because of artificial limitations imposed on the player. I played this for years before learning about this trick. Then again, you could say that you played the game the "right" way, since this trick is technically a cheat. The limitation exists for a reason--it's a way of adding replay value so that people can be inspired to play the game again in a different way. Still, I'd rather just have a jack-of-all-trades character. Variety is good!
