  • Requiescat In Pace, Ricardo....."Bravo Captain!..you have your First Officer, Mr. Spock here, pry and ask questions, while you sit back quietly and look for weakness"..."Stay..go....but do it because YOU WANT TO DO IT!!"..."This IS Set-Alpha VI"..His episode on Star Trek was the PREMIER eposode, so much so, that it was made into a movie later. This honorable man was also a devout Catholic and an advocate for the Virgen de Gaudaloupe. His life was the pinnacle of Mexican American culture. Bravo!

  • this is fuckin youtube, not phototube

  • Khan was an interesting character. In some ways he had abilities a normal human lacks, but I can see in Montalban's portrayal of him how frustrated and unhappy he was at a certain level, despite the 'confidence' and drivel; the root cause of which he didn't understand how to apply knowledge in building a happy heart.

  • @eric090909

Totally agreed, he out shines Shatner in Star Trek 2. I watched it a few years ago and never realized how brilliant Ricardo Montalban was (I hadn't seen the movie since I was a kid).

  • @SFFOOL76 I sadly disagree with you; Shatner tries to take a great shat upon the character of Khan by acting almost bored with him-no great threat.

I don't know if Shatner screwed this up on purpose or just his bad acting along with bad script writing-the movie was not half as great as the series episode.

  • No it's the soundtrack from ST II Wrath of Khan composed by James Horner.

  • Predator soundtrack used here??!

  • JJ Abrams has hinted that Khan may be the villain of the sequel for his relaunch of the series. He stated that since the entire history has been rewritten that it is therefore possible that Khan is "Still out there" and that Khan and Kirk are "destined to cross paths." Would be awesome to see, but truly no one can replace Ricardo. And who else is going to shout "KHAAAAAN!" like Shatner?

  • "Ahhh, Kirk; my old friend. Do you know the Klingon Proverb that tells us "Revenge is a dish that is best served cold"? it is VERY COLD...in space."

    RIP Ricardo Maltaban.

  • Did you know that he was 61 years old when he filmed this movie? His chest is REALLY his chest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the second part of Star Trek is the best the others are regular

  • amazing actor! i had such a crush on him lol and especially in this movie! really a lovely person.

  • Very nice homage. I'm quite sure Don Ricardo appreciated it from above he is.

  • Remember, you are in a position to grant them... nothing.

  • THIS-IS-CETI ALPHA FIIIIVVEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It tasks me, this video. It tasks me...

  • FYI !! fellow Star Trek Fans "Star Trek the Exhibit" is coming to the midwest to Louisville Science Center in Kentucky Jan through May 2011. The exhibition opens January 23, 2011

  • Ricarco was great,as was this movie!

  • @eric090909 That could've had a lot to do with his low cut shirt.

  • Sweet-this guy just rocks this part!!

  • I didn't know he died in 2009. But of he had to die. Great actor, Very underrated.

And this is truly one of the greatest movie villains of all time.

WOK was a very red movie. Lots of reda, redish browns, red uniforms, red alerts, red lights, red phaser fire, red panels, red faces, red Mutara, red photon torpedo fire.

Memorable and profound James Horner score.

  • If only he and Shatner had been in even one scene together.

  • Aaahahahaaa.... Ffffffffantastic...

  • If there was one man capable of lifting Chekov up with one arm without breaking into a sweat...it was Ricardo Montalban.

  • RIP

  • The two pictures from 3:48 to 3:50. :D

  • Ricardo was the man. Lots of gravitas.

  • Very good tribute.

  • Farewell Ricardo Montlaban, You will be miss my friend, And noone will ever replace Ricardo Montlabon as Khan, So with these final words i'll say KHAAAAAAAAAAAAN! ^_^ RIP Ricardo Montlabon.

  • There's talk of the new Star Trek movies bringing Khan back.

As much as I love the character no-one will ever come close to what Ricardo did.

This was the best of all the Star Trek movies because of him.

  • @Conan568 How can that be though? Khan was found by Kirk when he was captain of the Enterprise. Their rivalry was sparked by that encounter. It would be a very different context if they brought Khan back.

  • @Conan568

Oh god I hope not. If they even think about "rebooting" the Khan character someone should stop them. With violence if need be.

  • @Reclaimer77 Lol.

Yeah it would be like the Spice Girl's reuniting then calling themselves Led Zeppelin.

    Blasphemy.

  • @Conan568 : Well......we thought the same of Jack Nichelson's performance as the Joke in the 1990 Batman film. Then Heath Ledger came along and knocked it out of the park. I would agree that is would be VERY difficult to find someone whom could give this role justice based on the brilliant performance of Ricardo, but it's not impossible. I personally would like to see either a movie or a TV series dedicated to explaining the Eugenics Wars of which gave birth to Khan Noonien Singh.

  • To the last he was a por He set forth to Qonquer a Plant but he Qonquer the Univers True to His Plan Viva Ricardo Montlaban AKA Khan Viva Mexico the Land that give him birth Viva The U.S Land that Give a Chance You will be missed Mi Amigo !!!

  • Khan lives.

  • RIP Senor Montalban!
