WOW.....a few people around here have to brush up on their " History Of Rock ". David Knopfler IS Mark's brother, but more importantly a co-founder of Dire Straits. He played on the first 2.5 albums from the band, as well as releasing numerous solo albums.

wow, thanks for posting this! Good musician, I read that he left Dire Straits to pursue a solo career, just about the time DS exploded onto the world stage. I think his brother spent more time practicing on the guitar though. David plays about like I do, ok, but he doesn't make it "cry and sing".

@dravidius549 I think that David was always in Mark's shadow, particularly given the latter's soloing abilities. It's quite a shock to hear David for the first time - he sounds different than on the Dire Straits albums, instead just like his bro!
